I know there are various updates available throughout the season from the FM community but would anyone else be willing to pay for an official update ahead of the FM24 release?
I for one would. I'm not sure what price they'd set it at but I'd be willing to pay £10-15. It's all about the realism for me !
Will never happen due to licensing restrictions, same reason EA or Konami don't provide them for FIFA/eFootball.

sorry, I'm not the guy who created the post and I don't mean to be rude but I could use the same argument about the opponent, take a look at the xg on the opponent too:
0.41 = 2 goals
0.15 = 1 goal
0.80 = 2 goalswhy are they so accurate on goal then and we are not?
Can you provide any hints on whether a "touchline shouts" or tactical instruction could help our team be more accurate in the face of goal?
please don't tell me to use "work ball into box" or that my players bad.
It entirely depends on where they're getting the shots off from, position of defenders, etc. xG can very quickly become inflated with getting tonnes of shots off, and if the majority of his on-target shots are, for example, like this, where the keeper nearly has the ball anyway and it's basically just being kicked into him:
or from tight angles with little chance of success:then sure, you'll get shots on target, but the chances of those shots ever having gone in are slim to none. Meanwhile, if the opposition is getting decent space to get a shot off from in front of the goal where they have the largest surface area to hit in order to score, and where defenders may be blocking the goalkeeper's initial sight of the shot, he'll have a better chance of scoring, like this:
So it's about checking out the shot maps, the heat maps for your player's movement, etc, to see where any potential issue is arising in them getting into the best position to score.

Yeah they removed it in the winter update.
Probably too easy to boost a youth player's workrate and determination
It wasn't intended in the first place, and so was removed.
Considering that the Court of Arbitration for Sport also ruled against clubs relatively recently for fining players for things such as "poor performance" due to the entirely subjective nature of that determination, and UEFA/FIFA have ruled against clubs allowing it, I imagine that it may be removed entirely for FM24 unless something changes in the next few months regarding the rules over player fines.

What you'd be better looking at is your shots on target and your XG from those, and the opponent's XG from their shots on target. It might be that your players are making speculative shots, with most well off target, and those that are on target are from poor positions where the goalkeeper has a better chance of pulling off the save (tight angles, etc).

İ really like new format. Older format is boring because you play only 3 different opponents 2 matches. İn new format you play against 8 different teams. İt is really so so so much enjoyable.
I actually agree, I like the idea of playing 8 different teams rather than the same 3 teams twice. It not only sets teams up against a wider variety of opponents, which IMO tests their ability more, but also increases the chances of a few of the smaller teams that were never going to get through the initial group stage of pulling a few big teams out of the hat, bringing them additional much needed revenue.

Yeah I was hoping I wouldn't have to reinstall Steam but I guess I'll have to try it as I don't have anything but Windows Defender running. Thanks for the help much appreciated.
Reinstalling Steam doesn't usually require having to reinstall all the games, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Given how often teams that are in multiple competitions in the Premier League end up playing anywhere from 3 games in 5 days to 4 in 7 days, and that this is around New Year (when the match schedule is tight anyway), yep, that's entirely normal.

In my online game, it doesn't let us advance from September 3 and the game fails as soon as we try to advance to 4. Do you know if there is any solution? I tried to go on vacation and reinstall the game and nothing.
Save for try:

You'd be best off posting this in the Bug Tracker section, and upload the save to SI via their system, so they can take a look.

As @DarJwrites, try the demo. There are certainly issues, but personally I think it's vastly superiour to FM22. That said, there could be things that you find that are bigger issues than me, so have a go with the beta and make your own decisions. You're likely to get anything on the scale based on personal preference.
Fully agree with @XaW- I honestly find the ME in FM23 to be a vast improvement over FM22.

For anyone who is having mental health issues, related to FM or otherwise, please do seek help. As someone who has had long term depression and generalised anxiety for over 20 years, and recently finally got diagnosed with ADHD and got help and medication that changed my life, I know things can get better if you're willing to talk about it.
@Drystone, I would strongly suggest you speak to either your GP, or seek out one of the many mental health services available via the NHS: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/mental-health-services/

I don't now if they care about a particular window closing, there are many transfers happening year around
I mean, the last database update has always been once the Russian and Chinese transfer windows close, so even if SI don't care about a number of windows, they do about those ones.

When is the final database update going to be released?
Since the Chinese/Russian transfer windows aren't closing until early April now, I'd imagine once those windows close.

I checked, and apparently being able to fine youth players was the bug. It wasn't intended, and so was fixed by being removed.

Champions League requires fixed seating - as such, if most of your stadium is standing terraces, those parts will remain empty and not have tickets sold for them.

There isn't any competition at all . This is why the game suffers
In my opinion, competition does little to spur on upgrades or development. I mean, look at the AAA gaming market at the moment - there's plenty of competition between different genres, like FPS, RTS, etc, but 99% of the time, they just all decide to use the same mechanics with the same visuals, because so much money is spent on game development nowadays, they can't afford to take a risk on something new because it's unlikely to bring in new players. Those games that do push the envelope, they don't make nearly as much money and are often ignored by the majority, and so can only lose them money. As businesses in a capitalist system, that is no bueno.
This is without the huge scouting network that a game trying to take on SI would have to establish to try to replicate the level of complexity and accuracy SI put effort into.

There's a big problem here that isn't being treated seriously enough.
One save can be virtually unplayable and if I load a different save its working fine. There's also no problems whatsoever on 3d...only 2d. This isn't a user problem.
Unless you work with SI, you have absolutely no idea how seriously or not it's being treated, or how complex or not the issue is to resolve.

Is it to difficult to just let people choose to update there gamepatch after season? Already thanks for ruining a great Champions League run and a winstreak of 29 games in the competition just because of a patch. Give people atleast a option to install the patch end of season
You have that option - set Steam to not auto-update games. It's not SI's fault if you don't use the options available to you.

I'm enjoying this years FM - possibly more so than recent years. Yes, there are a few weird ME moments, but the game is very playable imo. I'm enjoying the new animations, scouting changes & tactics this year. I've enjoyed the challenge of trying to get a low block, low line tactic working.
Same, FM23 is the version I've enjoyed the most since... I'd say probably 2020.

Pretty sure they aren't licensed to sell new copies of previous games once the new one is released. It won't be coming back.
This is correct. SEGA is no longer allowed to sell the older version once the new one comes out, due to the licence agreements they have.
Only way to get the game will be from a third party key seller, like CDKeys or the like.

I'm going to shut this here, given that @Nmason10 isn't interested in further responses. I would also suggest he take a look over the forum rules, as some of his responses have been unnecessarily rude.

Removed a whole bunch of posts that included stuff against the forum rules - it's one thing to have opinions and feedback on the game, it's another entirely to start directly attacking staff.
I'd suggest people give a read through the forum guidelines, because if people post that again, they will quickly find that they're resigning from being on the forum.
https://community.sigames.com/forum/34-house-rules-forum-guidelines/As @Neil Brock has said before, and had to repeat more times than he should have to:
Quote"Remember when you talk about SI, you're talking about real people who read these forums. - In the past we've read things like: "SI are idiots", "Did the QA team even test this game" and "whoever is responsible for this should be sacked" and more. These forums were set up to be a way where our development team can engage directly with the community on a whole host of issues. Over time unfortunately the frequency our developers post has dropped considerably due to the types of comments above. Please bear in mind when you're making comments in regards to the game that the people who created it are likely reading. Keep things civil and above all respectful.

If you think you've found a bug, or believe the game isn't playing as it should (such as with defender movements or goal distribution), report it in the bugtracker: https://community.sigames.com/bugtracker/

The game is? Because it really, really isn't unless you're playing it for less than say 30 hours. Value for money wise you won't find a better game in existence.
And the average playtime solely for during the 2 week beta period was 62 hours per person, which even if you bought it at £30 is still around 50p an hour, which is a bargain.

I dunno, Unity has a much larger documentation and standardisation of certain parts of its coding, and isn't not a decade old unique game engine that's had bits and pieces bolted onto it. I'd hope it'd be easier to bug test it and find issues because of this, plus being able to work with a well-known engine and building things from the start again means less bolt-ons that call back to random bits of code that has knock-on effects on several parts of the game.
I'm optimistic, and looking forward to seeing how this new FM will work.
FM24 is sounding good too, means I'm less likely to just stop playing FM in the last month or two of the cycle, because I can just carry my save over to the new game.
That's how I interpreted it too, and with those features having an extra year to be worked on, hopefully they'll be significantly better. I've honestly been really enjoying FM23, so I'm looking forward to both 24 and 25.
I'd expect so, since all the info is included in the save. You can give someone else your save and they can play it with the custom database stuff in it, even without having the edited database themselves.
