  1. Low Determination really shouldn't scare you away. Even with the mentoring changes, you can still get decent determination gains from young players. The absolute game-changer is fining players for bad performances though. I've had players go up 5 determination in a season, due to playing poorly for u18/u23 teams. It's crazy to the point that I've considered trying to make my youth team perform worse, because after a couple of season they usually dominate and the fine option doesn't turn up very often

Same here, I've had one save where he was fired, but then again hired after a few seasons. In all the rest, he stays and is usually pretty successful. In general, sackings are very rare in FM21, it's not uncommon to see all the same managers in EPL after 10+ seasons, in top teams especially.

Sometimes I wonder if I play a different game than everyone else on this forum..

In my games, Jose, Arteta, and either Klopp or Guardiola are usually fired in the first season. In some bizarre twist, I've seen Klopp take over City and Pep take over Liverpool, but only after a stint at Real Madrid.. The only manager I've ever seen stay 10 years, and the team that nearly always overperforms in my games is Ole at Man Utd. Chelsea slip out of the top 4 very quickly, and sure enough they keep spending and paying way too high wages, but the only thing they ever win is the Euro cup.

  3. You can have a 140 CA player with a good attribute spread and good hidden that will perform better than an unbalanced 180 CA. You can't automatically assume that a player is this or that good based on the number. Either way, the number is hidden for a reason, and you should never buy a player based on it because you've gone under the hood. It's a fun thing to check when you're done with a save, but it's not something to actively use while playing the game.

  4. It's definitely a bug that you have £267 mill transfer budget with a £23 mill balance. No club should ever allow a transfer budget that, if spent, will cause the board to sell off the training facilities. It's pretty clear that your £200 mill cash injection caused this though, so not really sure it's something to report. Weird input = weird output. All you can do is pay attention to your balance and not spend too much, despite being able to.

I'm now fairly certain that it is not possible for a player to acquire Malaysian citizenship, which leads me back to the question of why bother tracking their eligibility?

Quick google search found this - https://maestroben.wordpress.com/2017/02/09/fm-naturalisation/

    "Years to gain Nationality: Never"

It's old information, but if it hasn't been updated in years, then it's likely players can simply never gain Malaysian nationality because of their RL rules.

The game still counts it under eligibility, because under some competition rules you don't need a specific nationality to qualify. Like home-grown players in EL and UCL, Pogba can be home-grown for England and Man Utd, even without being English. It might be something that's only used in Europe, so it's useless information in Malaysia, but that's the reason it's counting it.

  6. This could turn out to be both a blessing and curse if you are doing a road to glory type save going from non-league to prem.

A new stadium in League 2 is way too early to get a big station. You'll get a 7-10k stadium at most, with some expansion potential. That's going to hurt your finances in the very long run, because it will quickly become too small as you progress up the league ladder.

But, because you are getting a stadium this early, it's also likely to include terracing. The EPL does not allow terracing and enforces a 12.5k stadium minimum requirement. It isn't always possible to convert all the terracing to seats in FM. So I've seen examples where a 15k stadium with terracing didn't get approved, and the team had to move to a different ground. One case I saw a northern team move to St. James' Park, which had a 50k capacity at the time. I think the team ended up relegating and moving back to their old ground because of The Championship having different rules, but I think they might have been stuck at  St. James' Park otherwise, until the 30 years for building a new stadium had passed.

  7. It really all comes down to if there's a reason for them to switch. Are there squad rules saying you need Malaysian players? Are they not playing for their NT, and could play for Malaysia's NT? When players take up a new nationality, there's a mention of why they do it, and those two things are the only ones I've encountered.

Name, nationality, and position all look to be set on Preview Day as none of these change at alI would love to see SI improve the odds of having a son come through.  I've been playing this game since CM 97/98 and never had one :/From that, I would say that it's clear that if you want to improve your odds of having a son appear then it's the day before Preview Day you need to be reloading.

Some good info in your post, but I don't think you are correct with this. There's currently nothing you can do to re-load for a son, because the game won't tell you if there's a son before youth day happens. If you keep reloading preview day, you might change the names, but you won't know if there's a son amongst them, rendering the endeavour rather pointless. You'd have to save the game, holiday months from just before preview day to intake day, and then reload just before preview day again.

Slightly off topic, but do you have great midfielders and weak wingers in the save where you reloaded this? Matt Burpo is rated with 2 to 3 stars potential, despite often having the best PA in the intake. In one case, a 147 PA player gets 4+1 stars. and Burpo with 148 PA gets 1½+1 star.. In another, he gets 2½ star potential with 158 PA. I'm sorry what? On the other hand Reece Bowers is very often the highest rated player by stars, and while his PA is pretty good, he's never as good as the stars would lead you to believe. Bizarre, really shows that you can't trust star ratings this early at all.

  9. Jadedness/freshness is a threshold. If you are constantly waiting for your players to barely get out of being jaded, then keep playing them the same way as before, then the same problem will always return.

Always send them on holiday instead of resting.

It looks like your players are playing 4-5 matches in a row in between rests. When people are talking about rotation, it's normally understood as "play one, rest one".  4-5 games in a row is not enough rotation for most players, certainly not fullbacks with average natural fitness that also play international games.

Worst case scenario, you can edit jadedness and just reset the cycle. They should be good for a year or two that way. Jadedness is likely to show up again unless you change your habits though.

I suspect it will depend on the actual injury as to how much his performance will be affected.  In-game condition will always drop when there is an injury but say a leg injury will affect the player more that a gashed forearm.  The answer to your question however, will be that only the coders will know for sure.

I think he's also referring to the tactics screen, where it will actually say "hampered by the injury". It can also say "affected by the injury". Sometimes there's also a line saying "but wants to stay on" or "wants to get subbed off". I think there's one like "can shake off the knock", maybe with a different wording.

Since they are different flavour texts, it could be assumed that "hampered" indicates a worse injury than "affected". But it's pretty clear that no-one knows that answer, only SI.

When it comes to watching the 3D, I've never noticed a player with a knock actually playing worse or slowing down.

  11. 12/12 dribbling/crossing is perfectly fine for wingbacks, even CWB's perform well with those attributes. A lot of the best wingbacks IRL are players that either have played or can play as wingers, so it makes sense that FM doesn't create a lot of natural wingbacks with high dribbling/crossing.

Tackling and positioning are absolutely crucial attributes for my wingbacks, as they get very involved in the play up and down the pitch. Which means a lot of tackling, and being able to take up the right position to defend quickly. Quite confused how another comment mentions them as irrelevant.

  12. Very sure it's not in the game, but it's in the competition rules IRL, so that's why FM also adds it in rules.

Circa CM 00/01 it was in the game, but obviously it wasn't a good look on the game or the player. Headbutts, brawls with multiple reds have been in the game too.
