    Hi

I started a save with Wolves and have noticed all my Europa League games are played on Wednesday instead of Thursday, also every single league game is on a Saturday at 3pm.

I checked other Premiership teams and all their games are Sat at 3 too.

Is there anyway to fix this, as the Europa League games are played on a Thursday which would mean league games are usually played the following Sunday.

You probably didn't tick the "move games for tv" box.

  2. It's a pre-concern.. You've got like 2 years until he starts bothering you, and even then it's an easy conversation to dismiss him.

The issue here is probably that he is earning a lot less than other players with the same squad status, 1.7% of total payroll is very low. Always try to lower the squad status, even if he'll be playing a lot.

4 seasons in I would have expected to gain at least a couple of 4-5 star PA youth players by now but they all seem to be utter rubbish. My Head of youth says the same thing every season "nobody stands out but these are ones to keep an eye on".

Any help with this would be appreciated.

This is your problem. When is the last time the Utd academy has produced a Ballon d'Or candidate? Because that's what a 4-5 star PA player would be. In 4 years, you should expect to produce a number of good premier league quality players, and it sounds like you have. Don't write them off just because of stars.

There is literally no transfer bid to buy the player, just a pre-agreed price should they want to.

That's actually the key difference. With the optional future fee, it's the way you describe. But with the mandatory fee after x amount of games, the game has already agreed the transfer fee and contract. You do not bid again, it will be confirmed as soon as the clause is triggered. Yes, technically it doesn't say there's a bid on the player, but the move is in the database already and can't be changed by the user.

Never send someone on loan without a recall clause :)

Look back what you have said. Best open play chances not the number of open play chances. Who is not making sense here?

In this case, it's actually both. I guess this could have been more clear. You can knock the ball around most of the game without creating chances (other than set peices), while season #1 Liverpool will get 30 shots per game despite not dominating possession.

You can substitute in FM20 with in real life and it will still make perfect sense.( In real life your best open play chances will come from quick counters, which is why so many people use gegenpress.) Thanks for raising this point here.

It doesn't make perfect sense, precisely because open play other than gegenpress still generate far more chances IRL than in FM. This difference is the point you should notice, not that gegenpress is somewhat decent.

Lack of chances from open play is also another reason possession is often overrated on this forum, it's simply not as valuable in FM as it is IRL.

Arguably FM should have far more set piece Goals, as it had (far) more shots (pressured headers et all) from the set piece for ages.

Absolutely, open play creates far less chances than IRL. In FM20 your best open play chances will come from quick counters, which is why so many people use gegenpress.

If you read the first example of OP. Player wanted to leave outside of the transfer window so he transfer listed him and got offers when the transfer window opened. There wasn't a talk of two transfer windows. And sometimes they will give you more time and promise will carry over to next window. I have a player currently who I promised that he is going to be sold if someone pays his release clause. When the trasfer window closed I got the message that he understands there was no offers and is willing to wait for someone to make the offer.

That's still enough time for a player to go from unhappy to happy. Players are (too) easily manipulated in general, but you have to view the goodbye messages without thinking too much about the context. More than likely both players are moving to lower rep teams, maybe even lower rep leagues. That triggers a certain response, regardless or the interaction that led to the situation.

The rest isn't relevant to the OP, since promising to sell for a certain fee or release clause is quite clearly a different promise than promising to sell a player, and therefor it has different possible interactions.

They shouldn't forget it if they asked it unless their personality is described as psycho. If they no longer want to leave you should get the message that they are now happy to stay.

That's just the FM way - no history of past unhappiness seems to be kept once it's over. You can say it shouldn't be this way, but it is this way and unhappiness is almost always gone between two transfer windows if the club is doing well and the player is playing.

Sometimes even offering him a few times doesn't work and when it happened to me I didin't get any convesation options. Just the message that he is now unhappy at promise not kept. Offering him for lower fee might have worked but the again maybe not as he was only a fringe player in still not so strong club.

Once your promise has failed, there's usually an option to talk about this with the player, where he asks what you want to do about it. That's where the option is possible. Either way, you promised a transfer and you didn't make it happen. Ultimately you didn't keep your word and the player will always react negatively to that.

If stars are heavily weighted by form then how come Haland was the top goal scorer in priemer league twice and declined in attributes and in stars ??

Because it isn't the only thing weighted. I've never seen any version of Haaland below 4 stars, must have been a very bad roll PA roll, or you have issues with your training.

It's also possible to be in bad form and still be the topscorer, especially if you are on penalty duty.

  11. Players are fickle. It's pretty clear what happened in the first two examples, you didn't sell them immediately and their unhappiness went away before the next transfer window. That's why you're seeing those messages, they've long since forgotten that they wanted to leave and now want to stay. For #3 there's usually an personal conversation option of saying no-one made a bid and they'll drop it, but it's possible you need to offer them out more than once and for less than their value.

In general make as few promises as possible, and make damn sure you fulfil any you commit to.

I don't know how to explain that either, if i could know the reason i would do that with all my players

Stars are heavily weighted by form. Rashford didn't really improve, his form just did. It's been said before in this thread, but you can't just blindly base every player decision on their stars. That's not what stars are meant to represent, you can buy a 5 star striker and he could perform worse than a 2 and a half star striker -  and if a player is doing well does it really matter if he's 2.5 stars or 5 stars?

The only direct measurement of ability is the hidden current ability, but even CA doesn't mean that a higher number will always be better than a lower number. I hope you can find a way to enjoy the game without obsessing over stars.

I suppose Chelsea- if you just count CHO, James, Anjorin and Abraham (Tomori and Gilmour are excluded as they came through other clubs)

The players you mention were born in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2001.They wouldn't have come through in the same youth intake. In fact, those could be the best 4 players Chelsea have gotten during their last 5 intakes. You had a similar group in 1 intake. Can you see how wildly unrealistic it is that you even got it once?

What's the actual exploit here? Generally players are extremely reluctant to move straight after a transfer, however you treat them. On top of that, if you overpay them wage-wise to get them, then other teams will be reluctant to sign them anyway.

That's exactly the exploit. You sign a player for free, do a few specific things, use a specific player conversation option, and the AI will ignore that the player has just joined you and put in offers like normal.  After a couple of days the player is sold. The example in the video used a League 2 club signing 3 free transfers, after a week all 3 were sold for £3 mill total. Other than signing bonus and agent fees, pure profit.

Still confused as to how this can happen if star ratings are supposedly relative to squad ability, unless you have a slew of 1* players on the bench.

It's because form plays such a massive part now, a top team in good form will get stars like that.

In general you should trust star ratings less than ever. Here's an unremarkable player of mine, growing from 2.5* to 4.5* in 3 months for no reason other than form. The rest of the team is world class, #1 reputation in the world, two better players at his position. Way too high rated.

What if I renew the player's contract with a higher salary but he's already loaned out - will the loaning club pay for the new higher salary?

This is a definite no - if the loaning club agreed to pay 20k per week wages (100%) and you renew the contract bumping it to 50k, nothing has changed in the loan deal. I know it says 100%, but the game uses the actual number, not the percentage.

This is easy to test with any player out on loan where they are paying wages btw
