  1. I'm playing a multiplayer game with a friend. I'm more of a consistent tactician, he's more of a tinkerer, so between us most bases covered. What unites us is an inability, even when we're running away with the league, to beat teams at the bottom of the division. Anecdotally we both felt these games were _always_ banana peels, and so I started monitoring it. Even as a top four Premier League side, no matter how long a winning streak I'm on, _every time_ I play a side in the bottom three I struggle; a smattering of draws but usually I lose these games. I haven't won one since I started monitoring.

I'm becoming really frustrated with what's happening. I've tried tweaking tactics, bringing in fresh players, all to no avail. I feel like there's a complacency mechanic or something behind the scenes, and I haven't got a clue how to combat it. Obviously as with real life, being an FM manager means ups and downs, but losing yet again to a side that hasn't collected a point in eleven games is starting to take some of the fun out of it. I'm certain it's not chance; there's a game mechanic I'm being beaten by. On the flip side, I will not infrequently beat big clubs (Arsenal, Man City etc) by five goals. Feels like the same mechanic but flipped. Any advice?

  2. In exciting news, the save now works again. I played on solo, controlling both managers until Jan 1st, and when we tested, the guest player now has no issues with accessing the inbox. Couple of things to note, other than the standard passing of time?

    Qatar World Cup has passed.

    Inbox has refreshed.

Not sure how, or why, but great news :D

  3.

I had a post in the bug forums relating to a multiplayer save using an edited database I created (reformed two 'extinct' clubs, and added players/staff etc). SI seems to have located the issue causing my multiplayer save to crash. Only happens when second player is remote, if controlling both managers off one PC then not an issue. Also issue only appeared after 1.5 seasons, no problems hitherto.

Does anyone here know if this save is salvageable? Presumably editing the database itself won't work, I'll need to fix the save file. The official in-game editor seems very limited. Are there third-party tools that could do the trick?

Huge thanks in advance to anyone who can suggest a way.

Depends on individual rules of the leagues. In conference north/south, you can sign players from the end of the summer transfer window as they don't use the standard summer/winter rules - for example.

This is what I thought, that for the lower leagues in particular you'll be able to loan/sign free agents before Jan 1 2022. Not far enough into the game to confirm this yet though.

  5. I play "Disable First Transfer Window" for the realism of real-world squads; but at what point can clubs start making loans/free signings? Is it the day after the transfer window would have closed? I also presume the date may be different for each league (I'm talking English pyramid here, down to Nat. League N/S).

    Thanks!

  6. I've manually created and added two teams into FM22 for a multiplayer save. The player roster is made up of imaginary manually created players.

As they exist at game start, they don't get newgen faces, nor would they be covered by a facepack the existing photos of real players/staff in game. Is there an option to tell the game "give this person a random newgen face based on their physical attributes"?

  7. I'm creating two new teams for a multiplayer save, and will be filling them out with full squads of manually created (i.e. made up) players. Is there a) the ability to, and b) a template for, using a .csv (or similar) to add these players in one bulk import, or do I need to manually add them all one by one?

  8. Hi @Unknown Hacker

Apologies for bringing this post back to life, but it's the most relevant one I could find.

Similar to the OP, in FM22 I'm looking to move Dover Athletic from National League to National League South (whilst removing their points deduction), and add two new clubs I've created to the National League (thereby returning the leagues to their 'full membership' of 22 clubs (NLS) and 24 clubs (Nat League). In real life promotion/relegation this season will be slightly unusual in order to make sure the 2022/23 season starts with the 'correct' number of clubs. These special one off rules are built in to the editor, but I'm having trouble seeing how to edit (or remove?) them to allow for the larger league sizes in the 21-22 season (have changed every mention I can see to 23 or 21 teams, but something somewhere is still telling the game max league size are those numbers).

The below is a screenshot of the National League South rules. Are the rules chosen by the game depending on date (e.g. one rule set is set to be used for 21-22, then another for the following season), or does the game simply select the rules matching the number of teams in the league?

National League South also complicated by the fact there are two sets of rules, one for National League South alone, the other for National League South/North combined as a tier.

I'd be hugely grateful if you were able to point me in the right direction. Appreciate you're probably bombarded with similar requests, so many thanks in advance if you or anyone else gets time to respond to this.

  9. There are a number of data points in the editor that presumably are linked, yet one can exist without the other. E.g. I could add a new current contract to a free agent player, but not add the same club to his playing history tab. Or, I could add a club as a winner of the FA Cup in 1904 on the competition's historical winners, but not within the club's own history section.

Does this cause problems when data in one place is missing in the other (nb. missing, not contradicting), or does the game just make an assumption that if A=x, then B must also equal x?

  10. I'm looking to move a club from National League to National League South, and add two new clubs to the National League (thereby returning the leagues to their 'full membership' of 22 clubs (NLS) and 24 clubs (Nat League). In real life promotion/relegation this season will be slightly unusual in order to make sure the 2022/23 season starts with the 'correct' number of clubs. Are these special one off rules built in to the editor, i.e. by correcting the size of the leagues from the start of the 2021/22 season, will it break/go one team too many come next season? If so, where are these one off rules located and how best to edit them? Thanks in advance!

  11. How do I go about deleting/adding/editing a point deduction to a team, is it via the club or the competition? I found the below thread, but not sure if the instructions are still accurate. If they are, would someone be able to explain the part about "converting the English league rules to advanced rules"? Thanks!

  12. The player comparison menu would be hugely more helpful if it allowed players to add whoever they want globally as the second player/staff member (not just recently viewed in the same position/role).

It is often useful to compare across different positions, say if you're looking at leadership and other mental attributes.

A search function rather than just showing recently viewed players/staff would also save a few precious clicks each time also.

  13. I raised this a couple of seasons ago, but wanted to suggest anew having seen Miles Jacobsen refer to "Suspension of disbelief" elements of FM a lot during FM22 blogs and videos.

In previous versions of FM (still by FM15 at least) there was an option to turn off budgets for the first transfer window, but still have the window open (i.e. every club effectively had a budget of zero, but could make loans and free transfer signings).

By FM20 this had changed to the current setup; the transfer window is disabled entirely. (I didn't own FM16-19 so can't say when this changed).

I prefer to play with the first window "off", precisely for that "suspension of disbelief" reason; beginning the initial season with real life squads.

    HOWEVER

The new/current setup actually fails the "suspension of disbelief" test when you receive for instance, a severe injury to a player over summer. Now, in real life if on the eve of the season I lost a key player I'd go out and replace them. This is particularly an issue at smaller clubs, without the squad depth to cover these eventualities. I'm a League Two side, my star striker breaks his leg in three places during a pre-season friendly, and I'm sat wanting to make an action I can't because of the game rules. Suspension of disbelief; shattered.

I'm not asking for the current system to be scrapped; I'm sure some players prefer it. But I'd love to see the old system brought back in as a third option (open window, open window no budgets, disabled window).
