Regarding the football being called off, I got absolute pelters on the local Facebook page regarding Hereford's game against Farsley Celtic for posting: "People could have used the games this weekend to celebrate her life and show respect with a minute of applause. The matches may have helped the healing process that some need." I got called the C word more times than any other occasion in my life. I don't really see anything wrong with what I wrote but, **** me, the hostility and threatening messages was way OTT.

All this does feel weird, to me. I'm very conflicted as a Republican by actually feeling sadness. (Maybe it is because I am not a psycho that wants everything I politically disagree with to be utterly destroyed?) It is probably the constancy of it all - I'm 42 and remember seeing The Queen on TV as a kid as one of my earliest memories. It might feel like what my Grandparent's generation felt when Churchill died some 20 years after WWII?

Man, 24hr News can be a pain in the arse sometimes. I remember when Diana died and it was just Peter Sissons (in a blue tie?) popping up on BBC 1 unexpectedly.
