Quite why I needed to play seven games in April, when I only had three in June is anyone's guess. Also, I've no idea why I don't have a cup to play in. But a much more decent month, including a brilliant win against BK Forward who are far too good for this league. Shame about the loss to Ahlafors.
On the cup - its totally baffling. According to this wikipedia article (last updated in 2015) the first round is done by the top ranked team in each region...
We are based in Orebro Lan - Orebro County - which incorporates the city of Orebro and the surrounding area. It appears, therefore, we only get 1 place in the cup - which makes (some) sense, I think. That said, I don't understand why Orebro Syrianska, who are Division 1 North, didn't play this year, whereas the Orebro team who seem to be in the cup are Karlsunds IF of Division 2 Sodra Svealand
As far as I can gather, the teams that matter to me are:
Orebro Syrianska - D1N
Karlsunds IF - D2SS
Yxhults IK - D2NG
BK Forward - D2NG
Kumla BK - D2NG
So, theoretically, the top team out of those 5 ought to play in the cup next year? So probably Orebro Syrianska, but perhaps BK Forward when they get promoted? I'll keep an eye on this.
EDIT: Oh, hang on, BK Forward also played in the first round of the cup. Which continues to beg the question as to why Orebro Syrianska didn't qualify. But it does mean there might be 2 spots in the cup? Perhaps?

Top month all round, with Petterson smashing in 5 (including a hattrick against our local rivals in what is clearly the most exciting match I've had). Just the one loss, and its looking like a mini league of three for the layoff position... I sort of hope we don't make it, as it's only going to get harder from here.

Happy in 5th. I think this is about where we'll finish.

We aren't what you'd call and exciting team to watch, by any stretch. We've also decided that inconsistency is the way forward. Frankly, it was a pretty poor month. We'll stick with it, but if the goalscoring remains this dried up, I might make a few tweaks and changes.
Somehow we remain third, but we've played an extra game and won't be there for long.

April
They really work you in the Swedish fourth division... We may not be attractive, but we have been efficient, and defensively solid too. The loss to BK Forward - 1-19 favourites to win the league - was impressive; the 2-0 loss at home to local rivals, and bottom three loungers, IFK Kumla was an odd one. I think I'm putting it down to going attacking, and killing off my counter-press (that was knackering the players when they played every three days), under the false assumption it would be easy. To be fair we out shot and out possessed them, but not much more. With eight goals from seven players, we sit a very happy 2nd.

Preseason
Sweden, as you'll probably be aware, run a Summer league to avoid the cold and the snow, so we kickstart the game straight into March 2022. The squad is decent, with Jens Johansen, our Norwegian AMC, looking like the brightest spark - and the first person to leave as soon as he's humanly able to get out of the door. A shame, but we'll use and abuse him this year. We could do with a DR or two.
Expectations:
The club isn't exactly demanding the world. We're predicted mid-table (7th of 15, to be precise), and the board... well, they're fairly happy where they are
Pre-season:
Clean, simple and easy, mostly against amateur sides. No idea what it means, but we had hattricks from four different players, which can only be a good thing, right?

How on Earth are they pronounced?!?? - Yxhults IK
A Youth-Only Save in Sweden
Welcome to Sweden, were I've decided in my wisdom to start a Youth-only save in FM22. I've never done a Youth-only save, but I have good memories of Sweden from FM12 or 13, as I like how many leagues it has, how **** it is, and when I spotted a club with a name I genuinely have no idea how to pronounce - and with a sick badge to boot - I decided it was only right and proper to manage there.
Google tells me surprisingly little about Yxhults, especially for a club founded in 1929. We're based in the little town of Kumla, known for its history of shoemaking and for hosting the largest prison in Sweden, the Kumlaanstalten, or Kumla Institution. A commuter town 15 kilometres from Orebro, it seems a bit... Didcot... to me. Well, we'll have to put it on the map.
THE RULES
Rules is rules. This will be an @Jimbokav1971style youth save (definitely a trademark), where we can sign players, but only those who have come through our youth generation, or been poached. I'll be on instant-result. I'm also a terrible FM player, so likelihood of going up, staying up, or any real progress at any decent speed is low.

2020/2021:
October 2020
Matches:
October started with an unfortunate loss to Sandhausen, conceding two goals - including a worldy - in the last five minutes from former St. Pauli player Aziz Bouhadouz. A snoozefest of a game against Nurnberg followed, with a lovely, lovely 3 points. A disappointing loss to Darmstadt, in a much more exciting game led us into the big derby with Hamburger - and we succeeded in keeping the game to 1-1, despite giving up 20 shots to just 6.
Table:
Apostle-watch
Elsewhere, we did a little bit of transfer dealing at the end of the window. Out went German u-21 player, and someone I would never normally have sold for all the tea in China, Finn Becker, for £675k with riser to £800k and a 50% sell-on, as well as u-18 centre back Berkay Dogan, for small fry but again that 50% sell-on.
With the Becker money, I brought in a new first choice DC in Lukas Muhl from FC Nurnberg for £675k. He will play every game.

2020/2021:
September 2020
Matches:
A good start to the season - an easy win against third division Norderstedt in the cup, followed by four points in the first two games in the league, Borys Taschy scoring in both games - including an injury time equaliser against a superior Bochum.

2020/2021:
Pre-Season
Media: 12th
Odds: 50-1
Board: Top Half
Cup: Second Round
New Apostles:
The first order of business is signing pretty much evrybody I could. I have three years to build an entire new squad, with the exception of right backs. In comes a new goalkeeper, double apostle Ivan Lucic, who will slot into the first team immediately. At AML, we also signed the experienced Jan Hochsheidt for £475k from Erzebirge Aue. In the middle, former Spurs and Palace youth player, Englishman John Bostock comes in as an MC. We signed a backup as well, in Joao Oliveira, a Swiss-Portugues AML
For the future, Filippo Matteo Mancuso Catarinella, as well as being in possession of an excellently long name, was free and might one day do a job. He's OK.
Out went my now-third-choice 'keeper, Svend Broderson, and a young prospect DC Marvin Senger - vitally for a 30% sell on. I'm looking to sell, and make money in future, where possible.

2020/2021:
The Apostles
The squad as it stands officially lacks apostles. Apart from a random welshman, which I must admit appeals to me, we have three Apostles around which to build the team. Luckily, they're all on the younger side, and can help us build. Less helpfully, two of them are right backs.
I have four years to clear the remainder: if they aren't an apostle, they won't get a new contract, and the latest contracted party is 2023. That means potentially great players, like Afeez Aremu and Finn Becker, will have to be molded, and sold, at speed to free up cash.
In the reserves, I have a couple more ready and varying levels of terrible:

Way back in 2016, I did a save where I only signed players named 'John' or variations thereof, for St Johnstone. Then in 2017, I did an (aborted) save where I signed players named Matthew, Mark, Luke, John or Paul for St Pauli. So I'm redoing that idea, because it's a good one.
The Premise:
Jesus o'Nazareth, half Irish, half Israeli, will be the manager of Hamburg St. Pauli and be limited in signing players who's first or sur-names include some iteration of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John or Paul. As these are some of the most common names in Europe, it should limit me but not enormously - and the addition of managing in a top tier country should provide at least some excitement. Our manager, Jesus o'Nazareth, has also let the press know that any youth products will also be renamed one of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John or Paul, just to make things a little fun.
Further stipulations are that I must actively try and sell any original player not named Matthew, Mark, Luke, John or Paul over the first four years.
Sample Names:
The wonderful website Behind the Name lists etymologically similar names for Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Paul. These will be used extensively - expect to see Matthias, Marco, Ian, Lucas and Pavel featuring throughout. In surnames, the name will have to be clearly named after the biblical figures: Jovic, say (Serbian, son of Jovan), or Paoletti (Italian)
Sample Matthews in football: Matthijs de Lijt, Matteja Kezman, Matteo Guendouzi
Sample Marks in football: Marco Reus, Marcos Alonso, Marek Hamsik
Sample Lukes in football: Luka Jovic, Sam Johnstone, Lucas Leiva
Sample Johns in football: Johan Cruyff, Shane Duffy, Jan Oblak, Ivan Cabellero, Yannick Bolasie, Branislav Ivanovic
Sample Pauls in football: Paul Pogba, Pavel Nedved

End of Year Awards
Another bumper crop of awards for the boys, and me. We're now by far and away the best team in Denmark, and our players are, rightly, getting recognised for it:
Manager of the Year
Eric Amissah (Yth)
Danish Player of the Year:
After a year off, Eric Amissah (Yth) wins Danish player of the Year a second time.
Superliga Player of the Year:
Superliga Media Player of the Year:
Four in a row now as both the Player's Player and Media Player of the Year
Superliga Manager's Player of the Year:
A clean sweep in the Superliga, including a surprising first win in the award voted by managers...
Danish Team of the Year:
Two players in the Danish team of the Year, with Jacob Petersen (Yth) joining the party. A slight reduction from the four (Yth) players who were there last season. Now for a (YP#x) player to join the party - though it won't be any time soon, I don't think. At least until Fleming Dhyr (YP12a) matures a little.
Ali Ben Belgacem
African Team of the Year & African Defender of the Year:
A great season at right back for Ali Ben Belgacem saw him named defender of year, ahead of more celebrated defenders. Onguene is at Juventus and Ben Hassine at RB Leipzig...
Marko Paulus
2nd in Superliga Goalkeeper of the Season:
Upsetingly this is the one competition my players have yet to win at FC Nordsjaelland - perhaps because we concede very few, and our goalkeepers aren't tested as much. One of my players has won it before - Casper Hauervig at HB Koge. But Marko Paulus has finished second the last two years, and Peter Vindahl finished second the year before that.

Fixtures:
Well that was how it should be done. With the exception of the unsurprising away loss to Real Madrid, a perfect month, including a brilliant 2-1 win in Salzburg. The team is gelling, and we're playing superbly - and averaging more than 3 a game in the league too.

Europe:
In a way, though, this is the worst thing that could happen. We could still go out, and there's no easy way of dropping to third. Oh well - we'll have to actually try against Hertha...

Fixtures:
Outside of Europe, we are destroying the league. Rafik Jaziri (Yth) has 10 goals in 8 games, and Mhlengi Hlela has 9 in 9. Eric Amissah (Yth) leads the league in assists, with 8 in 7 alongside 4 goals and an insane average rating of 8.29. We're playing sexy, sexy football. Shame about the home loss to RB though. We want third in the group, and that isn't going to help...

August
It started so well, and then petered off so sharply. For some reason my players have all become unhappy at a promise I made in a team meeting that I haven't fulfilled - no idea what promise, or when - but that coincided with two matches where I conceded three, which I can only assume is related. Stenungsunds won with a hattrick from their captain, a ridiculous 6'6" Dion Dublin-esque DC/ST with an 18 for jumping reach.
Had we won those two matches we would, ridiculously, have been top of the league. Three games left, though, and we're looking decent.
