I refuse to accept that Hugo Aronsson (YP3c), my AMC with 6 games, counts in the best eleven, and will be replacing him forthwith with Rasmus Steen (YP3a), with Aklam Mutebi moving to the AMC role. (The confusion, I think, is that I played with Rasmus Steen (YP3a) as a DM against big teams, or similar teams away from home - and that he also dropped into defense when someone was injured, and that the AMC role in easier matches alternated between Elias Jangdin, Aklam Mutebi and Hugo Aronsson (YP3c).

Two wins to start the month, including against Hudiksvalls, sat in that scary 13th position, helped haul me away from the relegation playoffs. The losses to end were worrying, but results elsewhere mean that I will be staying in Division 1, with two games to spare!

Haaland is killing the competition in FM22 in every save, it seems!
He's quite good at football, tbh!

April
Not a bad start at all to life in Division 1. While typically dreary with the exception of the game against fellow promoted team Ekilstuna - we have to be with the players at our disposal - we've not been outclassed by any stretch of the imagination. The objective is a point a game or so - somewhere in the 30-35 point range over 30 games - and we're well on track for that.
The biggest negative of the month was a broken ankle for midfield mainstay Eskil Thor in the first game of the season, a horrible injury that rules him out for the season.
On more positive news, my Youth Coaching got upgraded again...

Preseason
Having scraped promotion, I have every expectation of going straight back down. One of the two losses of the Summer was a big one, Albin Andersson (HG), leaving on a free. His fellow centre back, Jamiu Oladejo - who didn't actually play a game last season - went to Division Three Terbuni. As a result, we're seriously lacking in defence.
Expectations:
We've gone up, and now we're expected to battle bravely. Nice to see the board getting used to my style of football (bore the pants off people by passing it around, and scoring from set pieces because we're not actually very good). We're predicted dead last.
Pre-season:
I actually vaguely cared about this for once, as my first three friendlies were against teams in Division 1. The results weren't promising...

Thanks. The less said about (23f) Magalhães (POR) 6'1" the better.
No, we haven't produced nearly as many decent defenders as we have technical attacking players, (22g) Banao (CIV) 6'3" the obvious exception. On the plus side, let's see how some of them progress after a season playing Premeira Liga football.
(22g) Banao (CIV) 6'3" is only valued at £77M because that's what his min fee release clause is. I thought it was a bug related to the new player valuation system because of every player in Spain requiring a min fee release clause. At least I thought that until I noticed (22c) Caneira (POR) DLF who is at Alaves in Spain and it valued at £400k - £4.1M despite having a min fee release clause of £8.5M. I'm still getting to grips with the new system to be honest and haven't quite worked it out yet. neither of them have a Transfer status or Loan status set so I don't understand what the difference is.
(22g) Banao (CIV) 6'3" is getting paid £75,000 per month and is classed as an "Important Player" at Cadiz.
(22c) Caneira (POR) DLF is getting paid £86,5000 per month and is classed as an "Important Player" at Alaves.I just can't work out why 1 has a range and the other has a specific figure.
As far as I can gather, the idea of a valuation is the minimum that would be seriously considered (say, with you for eg,' we need the money') up to the point at which they'd be like 'yeah, that's silly money, of course we'll take it' - or as much as your scouts/agent relationships tell you. I assume, therefore, that Banao and Cadiz are at a point where they wouldn't ever sell him, and thus his value is at the minimum release clause where he'd have to be sold?

An early loss, a win, and then a loss when a draw would win the league put me on the spot into the last game. I was a goal and three points ahead - so I needed a draw at least; my loss and Skovde's win would send me to the playoffs. So, having played in person - and lost - the game against Linkoping, I took charge of a defensive game away against early favourites Motala. And, a penalty, two missed (one aside) and a red (for Motala) in a thriller sent me up with a 2-0 win. Amazing. But just. We made it hard. A Skovde loss made it look simpler.

Five wins from five, a goal from a youth product, the 19th of the season from our striker, two goals in a game from our centre back following a rejig of our corner routines... what's not to love?
And with everyone else continuing to take points off one another, given how tight the league is - 2 points between 2nd and 6th - we go into the run-in 8 points clear with four to play. Beat Skovde in our next match, and the playoffs are all but guaranteed.

Your Youth Academy has done a good job so far - great start to this long-term save.
Cheers! Not quite the level of first-team ready players that @Jimbokav1971 or @Makoto Nakamura seem to be getting, mind, and I'm worried about next season - when we'll be losing our first-choice and fourth choice DCs, with no one to replace them, and will be down to 13 non-regens. Of those regens, none have more than 1.5 stars of CA... so it could be a struggle; and definitely will be if we get promoted (though I'll obviously invest anything I make in the youth setup!)

We've gone 8 unbeaten now, and even those draws aren't costing us - in a league this tight, everyone is taking points off everyone else, and we're staying ahead through the sheer willpower of Gabriel Pettersson (who's up to 13 goals in 17 appearances.
In actual fact, we've managed to pull 4 points clear. It's a real bunfight though, and there's no certainty whatsoever.

I got offered a job!
Obviously I turned it down, but I've been keeping track of my interview offers (which are all, with the exception of BK Forward last year, below even my modest level) and it's nice to be offered.

Bugger. Andersson is my best player by a margin. Let's hope we can stay up and keep him. I can only offer 1 year contracts to players, so this is annoying.

Youth Intake
Hooray! With a new league, my youth intake has formed a squad and played against my u-19s! Saves me some effort...
And an extra hooray in that the intake is bloody good.
Not keen on that personality, but his raw numbers are, I think, good enough to slot straight onto the bench...
Now he's great for this level...
