  1. Hi all Any ideas on how to turn this info/player pop up, into one that has a solid background rather than a transparent one please?
  2. Hi all Apologies I am very new to see this, but could someone talk me through please or refer me to somewhere on how I would add the "I" info, popup within the match/player bar at the bottom please, seen it on some skins but unsure where it is located/changed? For personal use only Thanks in advance
  3. Thanks very much for the feedback @phnompenhandy glad you like the concept as it's one very close to my heart, as linked to my family etc. My concern is if I go up and straight back down, if I would then be able to keep the job... as you say timing seems key!
  4. Season 1 | 2022/23 | Mid-Season update So with us just passing the mid point of our first season, as promised we are back with our first proper update... how are we doing then? In summary, it's really pretty positive as we find ourselves well and truly in play-off contention in the league, whilst also having a nice little cup run being in the last 16 of the FA Trophy As you can see from the screenshot, the beginning of the season saw us have an indifferent start results wise, largely hovering only between 19th and 13th places during the first 13 games. I truly believe I identified what the issue was and that was our very bad/abysmal Team Cohesion which as a consequence was causing us to be very inconsistent - The "Teamwork" training session after some research seemed the best suited solution to fix the issue. ... and it really did/has! We now sit in 5th place after 31 league games!!! We have a few star performers to thank for that and I was right in thinking Cameron Thompson (see screenshot) might be key, so far grabbing 24 league goals and a total of 34 goals in 33 appearances. Top scorer in the league see's him now wanted by a couple of clubs in league football from League 1 & 2, unsurprising really given his massive output. At 22 if we do lose him, a sell on % would seem vital to be included, in any deal! Our relatively successful time so far, can't just be put down to Thompson's goals, at the back we have our highest average rating player Darragh Gibbons (See screenshot), whose ability to score a goal from corners, probably helps with that, whilst warping it a little. Either way he has been impressive and at 24 years old, would definitely one to keep long term Finally, in midfield we have another youngster Sonny Graham (see screenshot), whose sheer physicality at just 20, is impressive alone, but his performances on the field, have been equally so. Keeping those three seems so so vital, to both immediate and longer term plans Yes it's all going great great, BUT I do wonder if we did go up this season, would it be too soon? With our first youth intake literally just around the corner, next month (we are now in Feb-23) and with our squad so small, all running out of contract at the end of the season, with them currently all reluctant to even enter talks, we might end up being overly reliant on that first youth intake anyway. Perhaps better to wait a year or two, although perhaps a promotion enables an increase/improvement to facilities which is obviously vital and due to our current very poor financial position, not an option currently I will be back soon hopefully, with a look into our first youth intake!
  5. The Squad As previously mentioned thanks to the FMEditor we start with a squad that may be short of numbers but does have a few standouts. The lack of numbers/depth in the squad, is something that might cause an issue is Season 1, before our first Youth Intake, so we will need to manage that well I think we have a good spine in Darragh Gibbons at Centre back (who I like immediately as Irish) and Sonny Graham in Centre Midfield. The star man looks to be the man tasked with getting us goals in Cameron Thompson who has pace to burn! I intend on posting two updates per season, one mid-way and the other at the end of the season
  6. The above posts were for some context/narrative which is born from reality somewhat regarding my grandparents passing etc. Having spoken to mods, this best sits within the career updates forum anyway, so rather than story type format, I will now pick it up in a simple career update format So the save effectively is a Youth Academy challenge using the created club BallaghLily United No Transfers, No Loans, no buying back players we sell, am very much looking forward to it
  7. "What we stand for" "So your trying to tell me, you want us to buy some land, develop and build a stadium, then rise through the divisions, whilst never actually signing anyone, like EVER???" My voice was strained, I was almost shouting due to just how ridiculous I thought the notion or idea was. I mean I had heard that with age you might lose some sense, but Dad was well and truly on one here, he was motivated like never before and that in itself was a scary and frankly powerful thing, I didn't want to suggest it was Disney World he was living in, as he was so enthused but part of me wanted to ask him if he was on crack cocaine to be honest! He went on to pitch and explain the blueprint for how he saw the club operating: "Values of us and our family, will be the lifeblood and soul of how we do things" * "No signings, we nurture our own, and create from within" * "The Youth Academy is where we get our players" * "We will improve our own by hard work on the training field, caring and developing our young to help them grow and make us stronger" That's what Nan & Grandad did Mike, for me and then me for you... it's a tribute to them, to us... our Family, it's what we stand for! Sure... that speech motivated me, Dad was always good at that, he knew what made me tick, he assured me the finances were in place to make all of the above happen in time. "Right Dad, what do you want from me?" I asked, "Just manage it all Mike, be the Manager!"... "oh and name the club!" So with that and some hours of thought BallaghLily United was formed, Ballagh for the town linked to my grandparents/family in Ireland and for my darling daughter Lily, this club meant although they never met properly, they could always be "Forever Together" Unaware to me, months ago Dad had ploughed his life savings into planning and building the stadium we needed "The Dashes" named after the area where my Grandparents lived, he took me to the newly developed ground near us and said "see Mike, they are still here with us"
  8. "We are doing this!" Dad phoned "He's gone Mike" and with that I knew that Grandad had died, "he's with Nan now Mike" Dad reassuringly said. With covid, neither I nor the family had been able to be there at the end. I tried to also re-assure Dad, he had now lost both of his parents in little over a year, both to brain issues/dementia, truth was the people they actually were had gone long ago, they were just existing these last few years, better they are out of suffering now, "they wouldn't want to have lived like that anyway"... I told myself and Dad that Both Nan & Grandad ended up in the same care home, not at the same time though, I often wondered what it would have been like if they were. Am not even sure if by the end they would have know who each other was. I know my grandad when people visited could hardly talk anymore in that last year, but he would always mutter one word whenever people did visit... "Home". I think he just wanted to go home, but the truth was he was needing 24 hour care and that was just a fairytale. Nan on my visits, would introduce me as her husband, I was her grandson she knew she remembered me from somewhere at least! Due to covid when my nan passed, I attended "virtually" due to number restrictions etc, so when my Grandad passed at least we could then have a proper send off for both of them. That was lovely, a celebration of the people they were and memories shared which underlined the people they were, all about family and love. About two months later, was when things started to change massively for us andour lives, Cheshunt FC had been on the brink of collapse for some time and as keen non league football fans, Dad & I watched on, in both sadness and interest. Non League is where the heart and soul of football sits and as a result, it always resonated with me. I feel, too much money has made the modern game at the high level, almost uninteresting and frankly too corporate. Non League clubs seem to be more about community, family atmosphere clubs, so to hear of one going out of business was really quite sad. Dad has always been super strong in terms of a person, a Director of a business we had always joked about starting up our own business together, but over the last few years because of health issues himself and probably just age, he to some degree had mellowed - A consequence of retirement maybe? He was super successful in business starting as a Saturday boy in a shop and 40 years later, climbing that same companies ladder to the top and effectively running things for the whole chain. I think his intrinsic values were a direct result of Nan & Grandad, hard, honest work, prepared to work harder and longer for his family. I reaped the rewards as a consequence as his son growing up and little did I know, I was just about to again! "We need to talk Mike" were Dad's first words when I picked up the phone, "everything okay Dad?" I replied, "absolutely" said Dad, "are you free for a few hours this evening", an unusual request especially given the haste I was sensing, but obviously I said yes and I popped round to his this evening. When I got there the dining table was full of paperwork organised to perfection, Dad was always known for his organisation and efficiency, the order of that paperwork on that table illustrated that to perfection! "What's all this Dad?" I questioned inquisitively, "Come and sit down Son" Dad said firmly. He then took me through "The Plan" well it wasn't really a plan, he had actually done most of the work already, he then proceeded to take me through everything, "Cheshunt FC have folded and there is a place next season in the Conference South for a new club and we are going to be that new club!" "But Dad, what are you on about?, I mean this doesn't make any sense, how do you even go about doing that? - Surely, other clubs from the Divisions below get their place?" I am not sure how Dad had wangled it, but he then proceeded to take me through how he had effectively bought Cheshunt, sold their ground off and got the place in the division for a complete new club! I questioned him for hours on just how had he managed this, challenging him on every point, "We are doing this" he stated clearly, your going to be the Manager and me the chairman... we are starting our own business finally!... well football club

  12. Intro/Prologue Hi All This is my first contribution to the FM Stories/Career Forum and to be honest, I wasn't sure in which one of those forums, this perhaps best sat, but hopefully that might make more sense when I give you all some background/narrative behind my save this year. Having been an CM/FM player since the game/s were on the Amiga it has truly been one of those few "constants" in my life and something I am very grateful for, like most helping me through good times, bad times and indifferent ones too! Unfortunately, over the last couple of years I have lost two of my grandparents (were married), which I have struggled with. They, like FM, were the "anchors" that offered me stability, routine and comfort. It especially has hit me I think, because I find myself, probably that bit more in touch with my emotions since the arrival of my Daughter and due to my grandparents illnesses around dementia, never really got to know my Daughter in the real sense of the word. With them all being pretty important to me and my grandparents being part of that wider family, that offered me so much love and security when growing up, I am very much insistent that, that is something I want for my daughter also. Although biased, I can say with a good degree of certainty that my grandparents were very special people, meeting in their late teens in Ireland and moving to England, they had four boys (one of whom is my Dad). Visiting their home or staying there, was akin to residing at a 5 star hotel, you would want for nothing and my Nan especially would look after your every need - such special memories. I have visited Ireland on a few occasions going back to "Ballaghkeen" a village near Enniscorthy (Wexford) where a large amount of my relations still live/have gone back to live. My Grandad was one of 14, yes I know presumably no TV's!!! and my Nan one of 3 and interestingly my Nan and her 3 sisters, actually married my Grandad and 3 of his brothers. A BOGOF or Bulk deal if you will, I don't know but it has as a consequence, seen a very large family. This is something that I have always been interested in and as a consequence, have always been drawn to Ireland So with all the above in mind, as I spend and have spent so much time playing FM, it seemed a very natural idea to try and "blend" all of those things together around my FM23 save this year. I genuinely feel it might also help with that loss and gried I am struggling with. I have therefore with the help of Steve the FM Editor & Lorenzo of FM Custom Kits (please check them out on Twitter) created a club based around the home town of my Grandparents and my Daughter, with the fundamental point of the save being about family and growing up together. Introducing.... "Forever Together" & BallaghLily United
  13. Just out of interest guys, is it normal that after holidaying a season, in the Conference north/south leagues in England, for some teams to have swapped divisions (ie. last season Braintree were in the South, but now down as the North?)
  14. Hi all Am very interested in this and making it my main save this year. A question though I have a "create a club" idea, have had kits created, badge etc, is there anyway I can go about replacing a promoted club with this one, to use that in the challenge? Is that allowed? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thanks in advance!
  15. Hi All I am using the editor for the first time to create a club, so apologies first off if I am missing something very obvious. Process itself has worked which is great but in my tests, I am super struggling with how uncompetitive the team are For context I am adding a team to the conference south, but literally the best player generated and seen as 5 star current ability is not even at conference south level (comes up as being only of regional division standard) I have also added a reputation which matched one of the teams in the league, albeit it was the lowest one. I suppose my questions are: 1) What can I do/change to effect the quality of the starting squad, in order that it is around a mid table team in the Conference South and generates equivalent quality players of that level in the editor 2) Is there anything else I should be doing around the game setup differently Appreciate any help in advance
  16. I have just been looking into this myself as am experiencing the same, the suggestion here is "True Tone" being on might be causing the issue - specifically on Ventura https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JBR-4959/macOS-Ventura-Screen-flickering-after-OS-update-when-IDE-is-full-screen?s=macOS-Ventura-Screen-flickering-after-updating I have just turned True Tone off, so will give it a period of time and let you know how I get on
  17. After trying a couple of skins and removing/deleting them my default skin now is now showing as transparent. - as per below I cannot seem to revert it back, any ideas would be much appreciated I should add when trying to then change to a different skin, it reloads to what is effectively the background
  18. Hi All I plan on creating a club using the editor when FM23 officially releases, could anyone answer a couple of questions I have please? (would be much appreciated) 1) If I don't add any players and only add/create the club (stadium) etc, would the game auto generate players for me (would this be random newgens)? 2) If so, would the players generated, be of the quality/level of the division, at which my newly created club will compete in (Conference South)? Many thanks
  19. I am currently managing Brentford in my save, something I am really enjoying and am immersed in One of the main reasons I feel so invested is because of the minimal/zero youth structure and the smaller amount of total players as a result across the squads, lends itself to a uniquely different approach, which also allows you to concentrate on player development more easily and generally more manageable (Rather than managing many many more) Out of Interest, does FM allow you to replicate this and change the structure of a club/your club to abandon and not have a youth academy/youth setup etc - If not is it a possible change/feature that should be considered for a future release? Many thanks
