The tweet is very confrontational. But they still have a right to say it. Of course many of us will absolutely disagree with it and will find it distasteful, but we do not have the right to police how other people react to this news. People who have historical links to victims of colonisation are maybe not going to always have the same views of the Monarchy and of what it represents as us and we need to respect that. Better to not engage with it rather than to try to draw attention to it and invite a pile on. -

On the train home. If it gets announced while I'm mid journey from Bristol to Newport, I believe I can rightfully claim to be the new Prince of Wales. Right?

That's not guaranteed. It's in the gift of the monarch. So it will need to be decided by Charles. Of course he may do that and I'd say it's more probable than not, but given that it'll be more than just him really, and the political situation being different from his investiture, then there is no guarantee that it will actually happen.

It's 12 days of mourning but only the funeral being an official day. I think it effectively means there's a sombre period where not much is done, then the funeral, then back to normal.

Yeah, not quite the same, but always remember when my Nan had her stroke. Everything was still firing inside, but her body just didn't want to agree, including her ability to communicate as well as she used to be able to. Heartbreaking when you see that happening with people you love so much.

I think that Charles could and probably should have been declared Prince regent already. It'd have allowed her to carry on certain duties without the obligation of others, but despite everything else I do think it's almost all her decision on this than anybody else's.
