Morton continued their promising start to the season after a slight hiccup loss to Alloa. The defence seems to have gelled and found some level of skill. The front line have been prolific with another heavy 6-0 win under their belts. Morton only lacked the killer instinct against Cowdenbeath where they lacked their first 4 choice strikers.

So roughly 1/3 of the season gone and things are looking good for Morton. The board however seem to be only satisfied having seen their balance dip into the red.

Sorry guys but with regret I have to leave the clan.

I just dont have the time right now with work and other family issues so it's unfortunately my clan time which has to go.

To be honest I've kinda lost heart with the game, not the clan, the game.

I'll miss all you guys and the banter but might be able to catch you on msn sometime.

Sorry for messing you around and I wish the clan all the best.

Mortons good form continues as they continue their high scoring. Currently top and clear by a good eight points the capture of Duncan Ferguson can only make things worse for those chasing.

Rumours are starting to be heard that young dynamic manager Andrew Price could be looking to take up a position in a higher league whilst leaving Morton strapped for cash... only time will tell if these rumours turn out to be true.

Raith Rovers Relegated!!!

Raith finished bottom of the league and are relegated to Division Three. A failure to hold onto leads cost them. Brownleys future is now in the balance and he is weighing up his options and is due to meet the board shortly.

Morton powered into the First Division leaving the other clubs in their trail. The championship and qualification where secured with several games in hand allowing some of the up and coming youngsters to try their hand.

AMC Jamie Stevenson came into his own in the tail end of the season giving manager Andrew Price a quandry having bought 2 AMC last summer. Stevenson will surely stay though and the unconsistent Nick Riley will move on.

Several older players will also leave the club in this transition period as Price looks to strengthen again witha mix of youth and experience to see if he can tackle the first division.

Having returned late from New York Andrew Price is saddened to see his good friend Polo has been sacked. Price described the decision as 'absurd' stating 'we all knew that he was climbing, just he saw the table the wrong way around'.

Price also offered Brownley a temporary job as bog cleaner till someone offers him a position.

Just about to go into the New Year Morton can look back with mixed feelings.

Currently lying 3rd in the First division although the points are so close a loss could see them drop to 8th.

Jamie Stevenson has gone from strength to strength and is now naturally attracting some big clubs.

McCallister has become an inspiration at left wing and new striker Davidson is settling in well.

However the defence seems to be static and leak too many goals. New legs due in but there is already an abundance of defenders in the club.

The financial situation worsens as the club sink further into debt. Many blame the board for allowing Price to have a 500k budget which they could ill afford.

Time will only tell whether this season will turn out brightly or not for the tons.

Andrew Price took the Morton faithful on a rollercoaster ride through the second half of the season. Starting at a unusually high 3rd place into the second half a few quality signings provided a little more stability at the back. This in turn let young starlets McAllister and Stevenson take off.

Possibly the highlight of the season was beating Abderdeen in the cup having drawn a closely fought battle away 3-3, the return fixture was eventually won in the dying seconds of extra time by Morton faithful Chris Templeman (4-3). Morton made a good account of themselves in the quarter finals against rangers but went out 2-0.

This seemed to be the springboard to launch Morton to top of the league with just 4 games to go. Unfortunately the team couldn't stay there loosing on the final day 1-0 to Clyde as Hamilton won 1-0 to go top by 1 point. Andrew Price was reported to be extremely gutted but can take alot from their performances.

He has managed to get the spiralling financial crisis under control by reworking some of the silly contracts that existed on his arrival (£1000 for an appearance....)

So the new season awaits but Price having proven his skills by nearly taking Morton to the heady heights of the premiership within 2 seasons may well be first choice for any premiership clubs that come calling.

The outstanding form of McAllister and Stevenson will once again likely bring the bigger clubs calling and who knows whether they will go or not.

One thing is for sure, whatever happens in the following season is likely to be defining for both club and manager.

CHAMPIONS OF DIVISION THREE

Raith bounced straight back up top Div 2. Raith held a good lead but a few poor results made it a nervous finish. With only 2 games to go Forfar were 1 point behind. A goal 4 minutes into injury time from Lombardo gAVE Raith a 2-1 victory. In the other game Forfar had led 3-1 with only a couple of minutes left but 2 late goals made the final score 3-3 and promotion was assured for Raith.

Raith will have to buy a couple of players to be able to compete in the higher league.

Price has learned that despite the last day dip in form that saw his Morton team slip to 2nd in the first division he may very well still be promoted by way of a technicality, namely Hamiltons ground not making the 6000 seated minimum. Morton are currently in talks with league and are expected to hold a press conference tomorrow to announce their findings........

Ayr United look set for a intresting 3rd season the team have now got a transfer budget that should be able to attract the odd player after having no budget and a small budget the last 2 years

6 players have all found there way to somerset Park for free transfers all though Thomson has made it clear he was trying to boost the strikers with 4 arriving in that 6 to add to Brian Mcphee,Willie john Kiely,Eddie Annand along side last seasons back up Chris Robertson and Wardlaw who played of the forwards in a attacking midfield role

8 players found they were suplus to requirment adding to the 2 players freed in the xmas period

Having failed last term to get a playoff spot having lost to Brechin on the last Day of the season Ayr are looking for the tittle and automatic promotion to the 1st Division
