Fan Poll is rubbish

So I’ve got Darlington into the FA cup 3rd round and you would think the fan poll preferred opponent would be Newcastle, Sunderland or Middlesbrough but no it says Swansea, Salford or Portsmouth?

I suspect this is probably based on the current form of the other clubs and/or the chance of winning.

May be worth looking at the current position/form of the teams you've mentioned, especially if you are in your first season (23/24).

Difficult to say now because it’s now last season 27/28 but looking at the teams mentioned Swansea and Salford finished mid table and Portsmouth in the play offs.

I might be wrong but I think most people would want a big local team in the cup rather than their chances of winning.

By the way turned out I got West Ham at home and I didn’t even get on TV?

As with real life, when you get to round 3 you tend to see the big teams get selected more. That said should you get a replay the chances of that being on TV is significantly higher

I’m in the 3rd round draw again 2030/31 with Darlington and the fan poll says 67% West Brom (1st championship won 5 matches in a row), 22% Wigan (7th league one) and 11% Woking (5th league two) so I highly doubt it’s chances of winning the match. I think it’s just a load of random rubbish.
