An absolutely horrible end to the season. At least in the league.

We're safe for another year, and that was the main goal at the start of the season. And that will be the goal for the next season as well. Vaduz won the Swiss Promotion League, and will be joining us next season.

Perfect pre-season!

 

To my surprise we're not predicted to finish bottom

 

We even have a player in the Media Dream XI! All the white/blue (and GK) is players from FC Lausanne-Sport.

The two players closest to the starting XI at this moment in time is Paul Eppensteiner (YP07a) and Marian Bonz (YP07f). The only reason Bonz is close to the starting XI, is because we really need a new right inside forward, and he could be the biggest talent at that position.

To my surprise we're still doing great in the league! How long can we keep this up?!

 

UEFA Europa Conference League

First up Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrar from Iceland. A team we should beat without a problem.

After a 6-0 win in the first game, I rotated a bit in the second game. It backfired slightly, but at least won on aggregate.

 

Next up, Derry City from Northern Ireland. On paper a tougher team than KA.

We won 3-1 on aggregate, but it should have been more!

 

With that win over Derry, we got to the fourth qualifying round for the first time, and there we faced Omonoia Nicosia from Cyprus. A much tougher opponent!

This was so close. And I feel a bit cheated that we did not win this. At least when they scored in the 97th minute in the second game.

 

At least we get money!

I'll call this a good month. Two wins and two close defeats. Xamax scored in the 94th minute, and we held Lausanne to a draw for a long time as well.

Goals galore this month! A bit annoyed with the Thun game however, as we were leading 3-1 in the 65th minute.

This is almost the same as last season. If we can get anyone that will strengthen the left inside forward position, that would be great, but I will take anyone!

Two players with 5 star potential is great! Even though Thomas Rupp (YP09a) is rated higher when I sort by potential, I think Michael Friedlein (YP09b) is the best one. He is very, very close to the starting XI already, and could go far!

I forgot the April update. Silly me.

What a season this has been! After our strong start, I really though we sooner than later would lose momentum, but we played great all season, and in the end we finished as number two in the league. Lausanne, the big favorites before the season had a good second half, and in the end they finished 14 points ahead of us. That meant we had a chance at promotion, as we played FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy in the play-offs.

Unfortunately they proved too strong for us. Well, too strong is is not really the right word, as we actually had the highest xG. But, we lost, so it does not matter.

We have to say goodbye to Justin Pires, the last player from the original squad. He leaves us as the most capped player in the history of the club, and he even has the most goals for us!

I would have liked for him to be around, but he wants to be a Key Player, and wants more than double the wages than what the next guy in the squad has. And I see no reason to pay him that much, especially now that we have several players that is just as good, if not better in his position.

Loving the story so far, having done Liechtenstein saves for many years it has peaked my interest!

I have a few questions:

• What is the aim of the save? Realistically what division do you think you can actually get them to? Whats the limit?
• Do you have to manually put nicknames on all your youth intake players to number them (eg YP07A)? Could you explain the naming convention? 
• Did you choose Schaan as they had the most Liechtenstein nations in the team at the start?
• Would you ever do a save where you just made it Liechtenstein only (can sign only that nationality as well as youth intake)?
• Are you using instant result to get through as many games as quickly as you are?

If you're thinking about the Swiss league system, we should at least be a good Super League team. And out in Europe, winning the Conference League and getting to the Europa League could be doable, but we need a lot of luck, that is for sure! I said in the opening post that Champions League was the main goal, but I don't see that happening.

 

Yes, I do. Copy paste all the way! It's pretty simple really, (YP07a) is the highest rated player from the seventh youth intake.

 

That is also pretty simple, as they had the best looking kits of all the teams from Liechtenstein that play that far down in the Swiss league system

 

I doubt I'll do anything like that. I really like doing the youth only saves. It's much quicker to move forward, as I don't need to scout for players to sign. But, if this saves just stagnates, and I feel like I'm hitting a peak in the players we get through the youth intakes, I might try to sign players from the other teams.

 

I use instant result in like 90% of the games. I usually play the "normal" way in the first game of the season, the Cup finals, European games and some of the games that I give the youth intake players debuts, as I want to know how they look in the game engine

July/August 2032

Incredible start to the season! We have defeated all the teams we have faced in the league, even though newly relegated Bellinzona proved a bit tougher than the rest.

UEFA Europa Conference League

First up, Klubi Futbollit Teuta Durrës from Albania, a team we should have no problems with.

Two good games, and even with the rotated team in the second game, we managed to win.

 

The next we played was Cracovia, from Poland. A slightly tougher opponent, but definitely beatable.

The first game was close, and could have gone either way. In the second game we really ouplayed them, but left it very late. We really should have scored more goals. But at least we managed to turn around the deficit from the first game, and got through to the next round.

 

Then we faced Odense Boldklub, and they were the only team between us, and the Conference League league phase. This was the first team we faced with several players that was not grayed out. A very tough team!

In the first game our main problem was hitting the target, and even though we had many chances at doing so the game ended 0-0.

Even in the second game we were the best team, but it does not matter as they took their chances, and we did not, and ended up losing 1-2... I feel like we deserved to go through to the League Stage with how well we played. We go again nest season!

Thun ended our winning streak in the third game of the month. And we only managed a draw against Bellinzona as well. But we're still on top!

A lot of players away on international duty has it's cost, and three games in a week really takes a toll on the players. We beat FC Stade Nyonnais 2-0, and then lose 1-4 three days later, after playing a highly rotated team due to fatigue.

This is the sort of youth intake one can only dream about this far in to the save! Five players with five star potential is brilliant, but the personalities of three of them is not great.

Laurin Hassler (YP10d) is probably my favourite, closely followed by Günter Herzig (YP10c).

We managed to beat Sion, and that was very important! But we have lost four points in the two games against Xamax and Thun. So we still only have a two point lead with three games to go.

Great progress, you're flying through the seasons and I can't believe you're already so close to being in the top flight! How have you found the personalities of your squad to be so far? I know how important they can be with development and can only imagine how impactful they are in a youth-only challenge. I've have quite an issue with most players becoming unambitious for some reason after being introduced to the senior squad, although the latest patch seems to have reduced that, and I can imagine a similar issue might be pretty detrimental for you.

To be fair, I have been very lucky with the players that have come through the youth intakes. The latest youth intake is the first time that some of the highest rated players have had bad personalities. I just had a quick check in this thread (because I can't remember all the players), and none of the players with the "Unambitious" personalities have stayed put. They barely played for us in fact. The only player we have at the club, around the starting XI, with a "bad" personality is Marco Walter (YP07c) (low det), and he has grown a lot slower than some of the other players with the same amount of playing time.

I am curious to see how well the new players will develp, with bad personalities.

Super League here we come! This was our third season in the second tier, and I really did not think we could get promoted so soon. Especially after that first year. I was a tough end to the season though, and with both us and Sion losing a lot of valuable points the last month. In the end I feel like this was fair for both teams, even though it was close. Over the course of the season we dropped from the first place only twice, and then we won it back the next round anyway. Let's see what happens next season. For all I know, we will back to this league in two years Next season we will playing with the big boys, and the board has made FC Schaan a Professional football club.

I am a bit surprised that we managed to get to the Super League in only ten seasons! Vaduz has only managed one season in the top flight so far in my save, but I feel like that is pretty close to real life, as they have been quite the yo-yo club.
