North American Football Association 2022

Back this year with some small changes.

INTRODUCTION

This is a project I have been Developing over the last few years. The core Concept is what if North American Soccer developed like European Football. With that, unlike many forms of this style that developed into one pyramid of just Promotion Relegation. I went with the Idea of a Super regionalized game with the continent divided up into smaller regions that would act like their own independent nations with their own system and style of play.

Each nation has a Three Tier Professional Pyramid and a Regional cup that is fought for by the 68 clubs found in each nation. At the Nation level there are two cups, one for all of Canada and one for all of the US. In Canada all 136 Clubs play in two legged ties, for the Canada Cup. Meanwhile In the US all 408 Clubs play in one legged ties that see the lower division site hosting the match. For the top 8 Finishers in the previous years, regional leagues get included in the North American Champions League, which mimics the European system but only the Top team in each group makes it to the knockout rounds. The runner-up and Third Place Teams Fall into the America Cup which here is only a springtime knockout Cup. All Clubs will take part in at least Three competition each year, The Home League, the Regional Cup, and the National Cup, With the best of the best adding on the Champions League.

Every Club is one with a History, Logo, Kit and Stadium all their own. All the Competitions have a history going back over 80 years with complete data on when clubs won or where runner-up. All the Clubs have a Reputation Score that gives the Club a ranking in my System, so just like in the Real world you have Big Clubs and Small ones you have that here too. There are some Clubs with a proud history that are looking for a manager to get them back to their Glory days, and there are small Clubs who just need a manager to show the owner why they need to spend money.

The list of Nations are:

• The Northeast- which centers around the cities and towns running from DC to Boston. Historical and Important to the game, this is the old power house who still is as important as ever. This is one the Three founding Football Association. 
• The South- This runs down the Coast from Richmond to Mami then Inland to Mississippi and up stopping in the Middle of Kentucky. This is also a founding Member
• The Great Lakes- Are based around the water ways and lakes of the near Midwest of the United States, it runs to the Mississippi River down the Ohio, including the major Cities on those Rivers. This is the last Founding Member.
• The Southwest- Is based on the Powerful State of Texas and the many kids who play Friday night Football, it runs east to Louisiana and west to Arizona and as far north as Oklahoma
• The Rockies and Plains- This Large Region is based on the many Cities and towns in the Middle of our Country, with half in the peaks and half in the Farmlands. It has never been an uncommon Sight to see kids playing keep ups in a Cleared out field.
• The Pacific- The youngest league is now just over 100 years old and it has been growing in power, now that its core four states(CA, OR, HI, WA) are some of the most important culture and economic centers.
• Eastern Canada- The League Runs from the Maritimes to the middle of Ontario It has been over looked and seen as a frozen land of hockey but there is a rich history of Canadian Sides playing some of the most Progressive Football. 
• Western Canada-  It starts as far east as thunder bay and is driven by the power house Clubs of the Prairies and Pacific Regions. It also has taken in the far northern teams of Alaska and the Frozen terri since the 1900s. It maybe the smallest population wise but the Region as built it self a true home advantage with some of the Coldest temp, and blood.

• I will be Working on New Kits for all the Teams this will be a long Progress but will be worth the work one they are done, feel free to give me any ideas you like. 
• I have linked the updated map with some of the Clubs from other years being moved into different cities but in the the same States.
• I am working on Cleaning up my Spreadsheet for it to be understandable for normal people this should out for people in the coming days.

Above you can find the Logos, two fmf files so you do not have to mess with the database, and the database itself. Plz use the winter update if you want to use the logos, there id number only lines up with that, also while it can be used with other databases, that can mess with the id numbers so you would not be able to have them line up.

This is fantastic, mate. Just been having a look around and I can see myself enjoying it. 

One thing I did notice, though, is that there's a league without any teams. It's unplayable at the moment, but is listed as the most reputable league in the region, and given its name, I think you might have created it and forgotten about it:

It's the Eastern Super League at the top there. Listed as being in Bonaire. It seems as though it was probably meant for the teams that are in the North-East Superleague.

So When I was forming this Save Originally the Northeast region was in going to be in bonaire- as the based nation because get region uses smaller Caribbean nations as their base. But when I went to finish making that region I kept getting a critical error message, so I moved the east to a new nation call the northeast, and all of the leagues in bonaire are defaulted. After moving to the Northeast there has been no problems. For the Lore I just go with that there was a money split or a tv company going broke.

Cameron, this is amazing work you've done.  I wanted to understand better the league structure so I tried to open the .fmf file using the FM22 pregame editor.  Strangely enough, it will not appear in the list of databases I can open. I unzipped it successfully and placed it in the FM22 Editor data folder. I'm not a newby to FM so I don't understand why I cannot get the NAFA databse to open in the editor.  Do you have an .xml version by any chance? I can try to import it, like I did for Zeelands North Americans tiers database.  Thanks!!!

Thanks, mate! My FM 2022 pre-game editor opened the files once but now it is refusing to open any .fmf files.  I don't understand why it's doing this.  It will only open .xml files.  Frustrating to say the least. You wouldn't by any chance have these exported as .xml would you?  

The  kits are really good.  Did you use Kit Basher, or if there another app that you used ?   

It's a great save and like the concept of the different North Americans nations.

this should work the leagues are very simlar to each other right now but I am working on adding the semipro level ( Divison 4 and 5), and hopefully I can get a quicker way of adding more people.

Yep, I am so happy that there is the kit basher program now because I had to do over 1000 kits by hand with the Smart Shirt Designer 2 it is much faster now. 

I wanted to have a USA that did not just have the one single league, and I wanted to have regional cities have a chance to grow.

I am in the early stages of their development of them, so I love any suggestions people have. I just finished logos/kits for the northeast and south this last week, but those are really quick to change so I am always willing to change.

Here are some random ideas that just came to mind. I lived in Montréal for a few years so would be very familiar to assist with teams in Québec / Martimes. Also I'm from RI originally (live in Miami at present) but would love to see some more RI/SE Massachusetts clubs.  Here are a few random ideas:

• Club de Soccer Outremont  --  (city on Montreal island)  "CS Outremont"
• Boston Common FC  (Boston, MA)
• Westborough Town  (Westborough, MA)
• Wickford Village (North Kingstown, RI)

Some seriously nice work here. I'm looking up the locations on the map as time permits.  I noticed that you have Marlborough, MA - the town uses the British spelling (maybe your team doesn't though?) 

Football Outremont - really like that one a lot!!

Not a critique, but simply by way of observation and personal experience, you have a club in Sherbrooke, Québec, called Sherbrooke United. Just my .02, but an English team name, especially outside of Montréal, isn't a strong choice. Sherbrooke is 88 % French speaking, for example.  Some alternate ideas:  Le Club Sherbrookois; Union Sportive Sherbrooke. 

I'll try to think of some more ideas for your lower divisons.

Hmm, downloaded this, got my team all set up and ready to start the league season and 1/2 my team is "unable to be registered", even though there are no league rules requiring registration, no foreign player restrictions in the nation rules, and no option on the squad screen to register players. So...that was a waste of time and effort.

Sorry to hear that, I would like to help can you tell me what nation you are playing in? this is the first time I have heard about a problem like this. you also need to understand all these data bases are work in projects and not going to work perfectly.

Rockies and Plains League A - the Wichita team. Signed a bunch of free agents as well as players at other teams, but there's no registration option at any time from the squad screen, and I played my pre-season friendlies no problem, but I got to the first league game and half my starters can't be registered, but they don't DISPLAY as unregistered, they show as available for selection, but the game won't progress with them in the match-day squad.

I am working on a fix current, what you found is true, but it does give you a list of rules when you first join a club.

Forgot to drop back by and say the fix worked, the foreign player limits are reasonable and registration works fine. Thanks for the fun database!

Hi Cameron, might you be able to export this .fmf file and post this update also as an .xml file? 

The FM2022 pre-game editor is not working correctly and won't read .fmf files. I've tried to contact them but no one at SI seems interested in fixiing it.  It seems to read .xml data files, at least for the moment.

Hope to have it out by the end of may, with all the problems people had with the editor this year I wanted to see if the winter update did anything to fix those issues. 

There will be a lot changes this year too. Which I hope people enjoy. I'm adding over 400 new clubs that will act as the semi professional clubs. All with logos and kits.
