Guest sav112 Posted February 15, 2007 Share Posted February 15, 2007 Unfortunately after a great season and finishing 3rd we failed again in the play off’s 3-1 Agg for Real Oviedo. Only two players were brought in for the start of the season both from Hospitalet although the board went over the mangers head and sold one of our best players in a million plus deal for Danilo Arrieta. The transfer kitty was boosted but we will spend wisely over the Xmas window with more scouting on some of the targets. Jorge Longo Rodriguez Nacho The main signing of Nacho to become first choice forward was a welcome signing as the manager had been watching the player over the last two seasons. The manager Tied up future signings Cuellar Ruben – Vecindario Carnero Pablo – Hercules Unfortunately it took the Manager seven months to find out he did not have a coach for his keepers with Manel Benavente leaving at the end of the summer transfer window. Amazingly His keepers kept this quiet as well with one starting a new hobby in Art and Crafts and the others down the pub on an after noon. This all came to a head when the manager could not figure out just why his keepers had beer bellies and why four wicker baskets in the dressing room appeared out of thin air…..although the hand crafted drip mat that appeared on his desk was very welcome. Nacho Rodriguez and De los Santos have been outstanding this season along with most of the team. We currently are in the play offs with four matches to go. Good performances with us beating Sant Andreu 2-1 convincingly and 6-1 thrashing of Benidorm had the fans chanting for more! phlapster Posted February 23, 2007 Share Posted February 23, 2007 Sants fans are bracing themselves once again for a roller coaster finale to the end of the season. This time at the end of the table. Manager Paulo Phlapstito finally seems to have his team believing that they are capable of reaching the play offs not battling it out for relegation. With the season kicking off Phlapstito had much the same side as at the end of last season only bringing in a young 18 year old Turkish striker, Tolga Guclu. Guclu a Turkish under 21 international proved to be an excellent foil for Aranal and Sant Andreu finally started a season well. Mid season saw the addition of Rodrigues the Portugese U19 keeper and Vaclav Machacek a 20 year old Chech Republic U21 central defender. With these reinforcements and the good start to the season Sant Andreu found themselves in 5th position going into the new year. With Aranl again proving invaluable with 22 goals from 32 starts and the emergence of Eloi as a quality midfielder the Sants find themselves 4th in the table with a play off place in the balance with 4 games to go in the season. After 18 months out and working with Sky sports, the former Betis manager takes a plunge into the unknown, and his 1st battle is to save Lemona from the drop to the Tercera División's. Within a month he signed Arkitz former Athletic B and Palencia goalkeeper on a free. And right back Arkitz from Athletic B. But the rumors are that madcap Ibanez has installed a new top of the range PA system instead so the team can run out to Twisted Sisters - We're Not Gonna Take It, as this was used towards the tail end of last season. Most noted in the 2-1 win over rivals Barakaldo. With 6th in the Segunda División B2 there highest ever and Ibanez beliefs of being great we look forward to the new season. Bulls of Sant Andreu Paulo Phlapstito has stirred up things with Ibanez with more slurs of Lemona have more bulls than fans. Jonny Kaufman Posted February 27, 2007 Share Posted February 27, 2007 Sav looks to me like B2 is wrong. 1 seeing as Baralkdo finished in the play offs and i even finished just one place out of the play offs Cultural Leonesa And their English Magician After joining Leonesa in the middle of last season the English unkown manager Jonathan Kaufman, showed why he was appointed by ripping up his first three oppenents by 3-0 4-0 and 5-0 despite this end to the seaosn saw Leonesa finish well outside the play offs. However some sigings, the best being the former loan signing of Radivella the right midfielder for 20k, saw leonesa becoming one of the teams to beat by going on a 11 match unbeaten run longer than any other team in the league, despite this though a mid season slump saw Leonesa slip out of the play offs. The final 2 games would seal the fate of Leonesa, first came Valliodid who were in the play offs one place above Leonesa by 1 point, a 3-1 win to Leonesa saw them in to the play off postions with only 1 game to go, a win and they were in the play offs, a draw or loss and they would have to watch the Vallioid and Real Scoididad match, Valliodid won 3-0 so Leonesa needed a win, leading 1-0 at half time because of Jesus Millan, however with only 2 minutes gone in the second half Olvideo equalised, and this was the way it stayed until the final whistle condemeing Leonesa to yet another year in the hell of Segunda División B2. Few signings were made in the july month most noteable, former Palencia striker Jonathan signed, after he was top scorer for palencia in B2 last year will he do it again? The Manager looked hunted as his decision to release his No1 from the club to save some money backfired as he soon found out his second choice was woeful to say the least. So disappointment all round for the fans and they had to cope with more bad news as Two Million Pound offer was accepted for star striker Nacho RodrÃguez. It was explained as being too good an offer for the twenty nine year old player to turn down. So boosted by a huge transfer fund the Manager has started to rebuild, Omar from Elche for 300K looks a steal and the rest are solid buys, well we hope so! With a mere four games to go in the Spanish B3 the little team of Sant Andreu clung tenaciously to the fourth and final play off spot. Written off as relegation candidates yet again manager Paulo Phlapstito and his players were determined to prove that this was no lucky run but something the squad and their manager had been working and building towards since he took over the side in 2009/2010. Things did not go well in the first game of four that would show Spanish football that a team of meager finances could still compete with teams with far more financial clout. The Sants went down 0-1 on their away trip to Hospitalet and slipped to 5th in the table , outside of the promotion play offs. Many sides and many managers might have taken this as a sign that the task ahead was too great and rested on what they had achieved in already the best season Sant Andreu and its fans had ever seen. With 3 games to go, 2 of them away from home the Sants would need to squeeze every point possible out of the coming fixtures to climb back into promotion contention. It is not known what was said by manager Phlapstito behind closed doors at the training ground before these next games (loud bellowing, like of many bulls are reported to have been heard)but squeeze the mighty Sants did. The last 3 games of the Spanish B3 division yielded 3 wins on the trot with Sant Andreu scoring 9 goals and only conceding one. Against all the odds Sant Andreu had done it, they had climbed above much more fancied teams like Llieda and claimed not the fourth play off spot that many thought beyond them but their best ever finish in the clubs history a record 3rd in the division. Fans and those associated with the club were ecstatic somehow instead of battling to stay in the division they would now be battling to leave it behind for greener pastures! Sant Andreu would now face Barakaldo in a two legged play off before they could progress to the final promotion games. Paulo Phlapstito would face the difficult task of taking his team to Barakaldo for the first leg and hope to take something away for the Sants home game still to be played at the Narcis Sala stadium. After going a goal down in the first half Sant Andreu had it all to do in the second half, once again the odds were stacked against them, these odds increased when influential central defender Alessio Frigerio was sent from the field for a second yellow within as many minutes. Manager Phlapstito now had to take the bull by the horns and went with 3 at the back and told his side to go looking for that valuable away goal that could make all the difference in the next leg. This away goal came from an unlikely source with central defender Vaclav Machaecek scoring his first goal of the season heading in a vital equaliser as the Sants held on to claim an unlikely 1-1 draw away from home. The next leg would be played at home in front of a packed Narcis Scala stadium with the Sants having every chance of walking away with a berth in the next play offs. As manager Paulo Phlapstito looked at the sky in anguish and dropped to his knees on the hallowed turf of his beloved ground he could only think of what might have been...... In their worst preformance of the season the Sants saw themselves let down fans and manager with a lethargic and uninspiring 0-2 loss in which they looked a shadow of the side that had stampeded into the promotion places. Whispers of poor refereeing and dodgy food before the match abounded but the sad fact was Sant Andreu's fairytale was over and now they would have to prove in the coming season that their 3rd place in B3 was not just a flash in the Paella pan. The players and manager went on their well earned holidays vowing that next season they would not fall at the final hurdle and would gain promotion for their loyal fans. Once again the media give Sant Andreu little hope to repeat the success last season brought, with finance's non exsistant manager Phlapstito must again settle for a transfer kitty of zero. With such little funding the manager has made sure he has kept the nucleus of last years small but successful squad which again will be ask to play above themselves. The only addition has been the free signing from Nancy of Cyril Barbosa a young french U21 striker who Phlapstito hopes will set the B3 alight this season. Sant Andreu face old rivals Llieda first up and he and the fans will be hoping that it was the best of times, it was the best of times come the end of this new season. Tonerinho with him anything is possible said another. I dunno all I know is ELCHE are CHAMPIONS and baby we're up we're up to the Segunda division properly and you know what we're not gonna stop there yeah we lost some good players due to age or stupid minimum release clauses BUT we still have Spanish young player of the year Manual Munoz. We are expected to bravely fight against relegation this season but hey I am Tonerinho I am The SPECIAL ONE and we are going to the Primiera mark my words. You can never tell till you start competitive of what new player can do on the park. There was a surprise signing for the fans, Juan Roman Riquelme signed, he has justified his inclusion by scoreing four and three assists from midfield. His experience in midfield is priceless and the whole team will have got a lift. First game up Sant Andreu 4-1 Win With the Manager signing a new keeper and Central defender and a few excellent forwards and Omar on the wing, he went with tried and trusted Nuno up front with new forward Cuellar. New signing Omar was out standing and got a great goal. Nuno scored twice with Susaeta also hitting the back of the net. In all we dominated the game from start to finish., had 23 shots with 14 on goal. The Manager was pleased with the movement and passing. He went to shake Manager Pauls hand but he was otherwise engaged We exited the Spanish up at the 3rd round but after 11 matches we top the league on 28 points with 2nd on 23.
