Lambie\'s Lovechild
There May Be Trouble Ahead ..... "I cannot stand him" replied Costinha when asked by the boss what his problem was with the assistant manager. "He keeps picking Gabi and Luccin ahead of me whilst youre off on your fact finding missions in Amsterdam boss" was his reasoning for the recent very public spat between him and Ignacio Ambriz following the 4-1 defeat to Getafe. This was a problem Bodragueno had not anticipated, as his side were currently 2nd in the league and chasing hard on the heels of league leaders Barcelona. "Right, nae bother. Ill have a word with Ignacio, ill explain my position, and youll be back in the team for the game this Saturday Costy. Just dont you be going public again with all this crap or youll be looking at more benchwarming time. The club is doing really well and doesnt need these distractions as we challenge for Europe." "Ok Boss" replied the Portugeezer and strolled off to lunch. "Ignacio" said Bodragueno over the intercom "Get me that scouting folder and find me a midfield anchorman pronto. Tell the board to break the bank if they have to, we need to keep moving forward, and theres only one way to do that .... Its Howie Time"

Guest sav112
Managers Comment to the fans! “Well it’s been an interesting season so far with some fantastic results and a few embarrassing ones. Beating Real Madrid, Barcelona and holding Athletico being just some of the highlights. It’s been a real test of the squad with the lengthy injuries of Ikechukwu Uche, Santiago Cazorla, Laurenţiu Dumitru Roşu who thankfully are coming back to fitness. Uche our star player was badly missed and hopefully he can stay fit till the end of the season now. It was a bit of a red card frenzy there, I lost count after the sixth and suspensions were all we needed with so many out injured but we got through it. It’s a slow building process but hopefully we have secured our survival in this league and we expect to improve with some new much needed additions to the squad for next season. You’ve been a great support and exactly what we needed to get us through the season, so keep it up. See you at the match†Savio Mambo Manager Recreativo

stabwest
2nd July 2006 José León Gómez has stated that on the clubs centenary year he's gonna re-live the past and bring something back from Glasgow. José León Gómez "The great that is Manuel Ramos Asensio, one of the club's founding members, returned from a business trip to Glasgow with a set of green and black striped shirts and proposed Betis take up the colours. The green and black strip was subsequently deemed unlucky after a losing run and was replaced by a green and white version, I won't be so unlucky with my choice" and on that note Juan Ibanez was revealed as the new Betis gaffer. the former Espanyol, Nottingham Forest and Rangers centre half, whos just quit the game at the tender age of 32 due to injury, was said to have jumped at the chance to manager Real Betis. Ibanez" I was totally gutted i had to end my career at Rangers, due to a tackle from that animal Lennon. I've got my ufea badges and Real Betis wow what a great club to start my career in management. am no-ones fool I know this club should be up there aiming for a place in Europe, and thats what am aiming for. the Squad
No. Position Player Apps Gls 1 GK Pedro Contreras 5 - 2 DF Melli 35 1 3 DF Enrique Romero 2 - 4 DF Juanito 33 1 5 DF David Rivas 24 - 6 DF Alejandro Lembo 18 - 7 DF Damià Abella 22 - 8 MF Arzu 14 1 9 FW Fernando 13 2 10 FW Edú 15 2 11 FW Dani 14 - 12 FW Robert 21 3 [on loan from P.S.V] 13 GK Toni Doblas 33 - 14 MF Capi 12 1 15 DF Nano 20 - 16 MF Johann Vogel 18 3 [on loan from Milan] 17 MF Jorge Wágner 29 2 18 MF Alberto Rivera 19 - 19 FW Xisco 23 - 20 MF Marcos Assunção 36 4 21 MF Miguel Angel 4 - 22 DF Fernando Vega 23 - 23 MF David Odonkor 30 3 24 FW Tati Maldonado 12 - 25 FW Rafael Sóbis 35 20 26 MF Andre Guaradado 13 2
Stats Copa del Rey runners up. Guest sav112
Well it’s the end of the season and 13th place is a start to build from. Next season we aim to improve and the Manager now has an idea of just what he has and what he needs. Transfer rumors of us signing Deco for 30 Million are amusing, firstly we don’t have that kind of money and secondly I would not be spending that amount on one player. I know some clubs have hefty offer in for players like Torres for a reputed 59Mil and I wish I had that kind of offer, I could build team for that. What can we say about Uche, lightning fast with an eye for goal, once he gets in front that’s it. His teamwork, agility and natural strength and fitness are key to the teams best performances and his value is rocketing. Manager Savio Resigned him up, At only twenty three he has room to improve the only problem for the management is finding a suitable partner. Top Goalscorer - Dumitru Laurentiu Rosu 13 Fan player of the year - Dumitru Laurentiu Rosu Most valued player By Management – Ikechukwu Uche We may not be League Contenders but we aim to ruffle a few feathers next season…….Lets hear it for the Daddy, the Grandfather of Spain “El Decano†
Gary Toner
Everybody listen to me ah ha my name ist Gaz Julio dos santos Tonerinhoooooooo haha It was a strange season a season of inconsistency and lack of firepower. Only one player managed to sneak into double figures for goals and that was January signing Gonzalo Higuain. The others well Raul Tamudo was never off the treatment bench but when he was he fired in 9 goals in 26 games which really isn't good enough so he now finds himself gone to Charlton in a £8m deal. Then there was the other two. Walter Pandiani and Luis Garcia which pretty much was a waste of wages but I am pleased i've managed to move them on to other suckers. Garcia joining Blackburn for £5m and Pandiani for some reason going to Palermo for £4.2m. See despite a real lack of class within the squad we somehow managed to finish the season in 7th place and dumbfound the media who thought we would be battling relegation and although i wasn't too happy with my defence over the course of the season we finished with one of the better records in the league. Next season however I can't have afford to have any passengers and with Deportivo having some ahem money problems I seized the opportunity to rape them of some talent. In comes Valeron, Andrade, Rodriquez and Capdevila for a combined total of just over £5m. Joining the Deportivo 4some are Strikers Mido from Spurs in a £1.5m deal and Pippo Inzaghi from Ac Milan for £275k. Pippo may 33 years old but he is a natual goalscorer and proved this last season netting 14 goals in 16 appearences for Milan. His experience in coming off the bench will prove beneficial to us next season. Also incoming is Thomas Hubener and Marek Heinz on frees and 28 year old goalkeeper Tim Howard for £2.8m. Next season is going to be make or break for Espanyol and we can only hope come the end of it we are up there in the honours list.

Lambie\'s Lovechild
Viva Atletico - Number 1 Team in Madrid! The season ends on a low, as dropped points and poor discipline cause Valencia to sneak into 2nd place and deny Los Colchorenos the automatic Champions League spot. Players In

Sherman Cardenas - AM RC - £900k (Bucaramanga)
Luka Modric - AM RLC - £1.5M (Dinamo)
Didier Digard - D/DM C - £1M (Le Havre)
Lebohang Mokoena - AM/F RC - £350k (Orlando Pirates)
Benedict Vilakazi - AM C - £350k (Orlando Pirates) Players Out

Antonio Lopez - D/DM L - £3.2M (Villareal) A quiet season in the transfer market, Lopez out to fund some serious youth purchases with Bodragueno's strategy of a long term management of the club, and not wishing to upset a stable team by bringing in a lot of new faces (Digard/Cardenas/Mokoena/Vilakazi all loaned out to Affiliates) A solid start to the season saw Atletico open with 10 points from a possible 12 , including a 5-1 humping of Zaragoza. The squad combined well, and stayed injury free for a while , the front trio of Petrov (who Spurs kept trying to Lure) , Maxi Rodriguez (who Man U/Real Madrid kept trying to lure) and Fernando Torres (who pretty much f'n everybody tried to Lure) were near unstoppable as defences tried to cope with their skill , speed , and explosive finishing. Following a 1-0 reversal (and an unlucky one at that) to Sociedad , Atletico managed an impressive 11 game unbeaten run before coming up against a Ronaldinho inspired Barcelona and succumbing 1-0 to a dubious penalty. From there, the season wobbled a little , good wins against Levante & Betis coupled with single goal defeats to Real Madrid and Villareal. However squad unity was strong, and they bounced back to go on another 8 game unbeaten run, ended again by a single goal to a resurgent Valencia side. The remainder of the season was up and down , good wins followed by frustrating goals or single goal defeats, but other than a 9 man humiliation to Gimnastic, Atletico fans really had nothing to complain about , and Bodragueno was warmly welcomed to the end of season fans dinner to receive their thanks. During the dinner however, came the news that the fans, and Bodragueno, had been dreading. A £59M bid had been received for Fernando Torres, and despite the club not wishing to accept it, the terms of the players contract meant they had no choice. Torres bid the fans goodbye with the Player of the Season trophy in his back pocket and off he went to ply his trade at the Emirates Stadium. I have a massive rebuilding job on my hands at Atletico now that Torres has moved on, and even the signing of 5 or 6 new faces wont replace a man who can only be described as "A Legend" at 22. Lambie\'s Lovechild
"Hes retired boss" panted the assistant after running the entire length of the park to deliver the news to Bodragueno. "Apparently he was offered a job working in Tesco's and it paid enough for him to give up football". This was the last thing Bodragueno needed to hear. After the loss of Fernando Torres, Atletico were back to Boing Boing football, gosls were in short supply and the midfield werent firing at all. He needed that anchor man, that lynchpin, that all important leader on the field, but this news brought him to the realisation he would never find such a player. Willie Howie had retired "Get your scouting systems into Germany , Italy , Argentina , Brazil , England and France. I need the best players money can buy, Valencia have spent all their cash, Barca dont need the players, we are the number 1 club when the transfer window opens this season, and I expect us to sign BIG. No excuses mate, I want the best and your remit is to find me the best." "Ok Boss" said the assistant, and turned on his heels to book the flights for his next scouting trip. "And while youre at it" shouted Bodragueno "See if Geordie Shaw, Colin McGlashan , Davie Elliott and Isaac English are available. We need some serious firepower". The scout looked blankly at Bodragueno. He put this particular request down to a language barrier, and unfortunately, one that was widening.
