Twellman24
Just wondering if anyone can answer my question. Miles said this: How long will the activation servers be available? Will I still be able to play the game 5 years from now?Yes, we hope so. Nonetheless - after 18 months (estimated at present) we will release a DRM-free version of the game to ensure that you can play in years to come. And I asked this to several mods and well, everyone lol: So, hold on a minute. If I want to play for years to come and be sure of it, I have to but the game again in 18 months? Did I get that right? Just wondering. Anybody?
AvatarST
You got it right. If the servers go to hell you'd have to buy a DRM free copy from what I can gather.
Twellman24
Well, we'll see if I finally get an official answer.
Selleckta
No of course not! The DRM will be patched out of your existing copy!
Twellman24
Anyone knows for sure?
Selleckta
Oh, thanks very much! Use your brain, dude. Why would they make you pay again? One of the Sega reps confirmed it would be patched out.
Interloper
There will according to some devs on here be a patch after i think it was 14 months of release that will make it not need to activate anymore or anything.
Twellman24
Agh! No, it was 18 months, and Miles said it himself, but i want to know if that means buying a new game or not. Come oooon...jesus.
mne2
They will not release another FM 2009 in 18 months as nobody would buy it anyway!! It will be done via some sort of patch.
Twellman24
Yes, we hope so. Nonetheless - after 18 months (estimated at present) we will release a DRM-free version of the game to ensure that you can play in years to come. This does not assure me that it will be a patch. The key term is DRM-free version of the game. That sounds like a game to me. I just want to know, I've been asking this for 36 hours lol
Butts
It will be patched out

In 18 months time, FM10 will be out. At that point, why on earth would SI charge for a DRM free version of FM09?
Twellman24
Obsessed? Obsessed is realizing that there is a mistake with the authentication part of the game and asking the same questions over and over again, cursing at everybody who tries to help and collapsing the boards. I just want to know; that's all. I'd be buying a game for 1 1/2 years, and then having to buy another one. Can I ask that without being too much of a problem? Ranson52
So big deal. By then you will have bought FM2010 and your problem will go away. Most people, not all, move on from version to version. The issue will be dead and buried in 18 months time.
Twellman24
Ahm, ok then. I still play 99-00, but if you say so, I guess it won't be a problem. I don't understand why everybody is avoiding my question.
Selleckta
Ha! no one is avoiding your question. The answer is: no, you will not need to buy a second DRM-free version of the game. You will simply patch your exisitng copy.
Twellman24
No one has said that as far as I am concerned, so unless someone who knows whats going on confirms that, I'll believe that it is the other way around, which is what Miles implies with that response. Cheers.
Selleckta
Fine. Don't stay up too late. Bon nuit!
Blaugranista
No offence, Twellman, but I would imagine Miles has other things on his mind at the moment; I would assume that is the reason for the delayed "official" response.
