Carabao Cup – Semi Final Second Leg

Hull (H)

It was key that we got off to a good start after we lost the first leg and we did exactly that. Alexander-Arnold played a good through ball for Oxlade-Chamberlain to run onto and fire into the bottom corner. We got a second soon after ruthlessly pouncing on a defensive error. Goalkeeper Marshall played it short to Dawson who then passed straight to Mané. The winger played through Woodburn who in turn beat Marshall at his near post.

Half Time – Liverpool 2 – 0 Hull

The tie looked as good as over straight from the kickoff. Mané sent a long ball over to Oxlade-Chamberlain. The winger run down the right flank and sent in a beautiful cross for Mané to tap in at the far post. The tie then did look over on the hour mark as the same combination of Oxlade-Chamberlain crossing to Mané at the far post worked again. Hull pulled one back as we failed to clear a corner and Irvine tapped in from close range. We comfortably saw the game out from there to ensure we made it to the final and an appearance at Wembley.

FA Cup – Fourth Round

Sunderland (A)

A rather boring first half as both sides failed to test each other’s keeper and was no surprise to see it scoreless at half time.

Half Time – Sunderland 0 – 0 Liverpool

The second half had lots more chances but both sides were very wasteful. Vaughan could have had a hat trick for the hosts but for some awful misses from good positions. Woodburn had our best chance firing wide from range which was the closest we came to scoring.

Full Time – Sunderland 0 – 0 Liverpool

Lineup (4-3-3) – Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Clyne, Gomez, Klavan, Grujic, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Sturridge, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Woodburn

Danny Ward has left the club for a fee of £4M to AC Milan. We have signed 18 year old wonderkid Ezequiel Barco from Independiente for a fee of £5M. He will now go out on loan to Sevilla until the end of the season to enable us to complete a work permit for him. The bid for Ragnar Klavan has now been rejected after a replacement wasn’t found.

Barclays Premier League – Match 25

Arsenal (A)

A great game of football that didn’t do the end scoreline any justice. Lozano should have put the Gunners in front after ten minutes but could only fire over from Giroud’s knockdown. Coutinho then should have score after a combination with Firmino but shot just wide. Arsenal took the lead  thanks to Coquelin heading a through ball into the path of Lacazette to squeeze in at the near post.

Half Time – Arsenal 1 – 0 Liverpool

A change of formation saw us get back into the game more in the second half and got a deserved equaliser. From an Arsenal corner we quickly broke with a long ball up to Firmino who laid it off for Coutinho halfway into our half. The Brazilian proceeded to score one of the goals of the season with a mazy run from there. He went past at least 3 Arsenal defenders on his own and blasted into the bottom corner. It was end to end from there with both sides chasing the winner but it wasn’t to be.

Full Time – Arsenal 1 – 1 Liverpool

Lacazette 25; Coutinho 71

Lineup (4-3-3) – Karius, Roberto, Moreno, De Ligt, Matip, Can, Henderson (66), Coutinho, Salah (66), Mané, Firmino (71)

Subs: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Wijnaldum, Lallana (66), Oxlade-Chamberlain (66), Sturridge (71)

Chelsea 1 – 0 Brighton

Everton 1 – 0 Man City

Stoke 3 – 1 Watford

Swansea 0 – 1 Tottenham

West Brom 4 – 1 Southampton

West Ham 3 – 1 Crystal Palace

Barclays Premier League – Match 26

Burnley (H)

The Clarets looked like they had set up with a gameplan to frustrate us so Sean Dyche will have been horrified to see us 4 up at half time. In the second minute we took the lead as a combination from Firmino to Salah and then back to Firmino was then cooly finished off by Milner. A couple of minutes later we got a second goal as Salah used his pace to outrun his marker and send in a cross for Firmino to head in. Salah then got himself on the scoresheet thanks to a brilliant powerful cross by Coutinho gave the Egyptian a simple tap in. We got a fourth just before the break from a simple throw in at the corner flag. Alexander-Arnold threw the ball to Lallana and he then crossed for Moreno of all people to slot in.

Half Time – Liverpool 4 – 0 Burnley

We completely switched off in the second half and allowed the visitors a glimmer of hope. Burnley scored probably one of the team goals of the season after what must have been at least twenty passes to then be finished off with Brady tapping in at the back post. Brady then got his second thanks to Dolberg cheaply giving possession away to Ward and the left back raced up and crossed for Brady to head in. We saw the game out from there but it should have been far more comfortable.

Full Time – Liverpool 4 – 2 Burnley

Milner 2, Firmino 4, Salah 29, Moreno 45+2; Brady 68 83

Lineup (4-3-3) – Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Moreno, De Ligt, Gomez, Roberto, Milner, Lallana, Salah (73), Coutinho (61), Firmino (61)

FA Cup – Fourth Round Replay

Sunderland (H)

The first half was a half of few chances but both sides made the most of theirs. A simple long ball from Galloway found Gomez sleeping and the grateful Grabban latched onto it and slotted past Mignolet. We did get an equaliser though after a quick counter. Oxlade-Chamberlain found Sturridge breaking free whose shot was well saved. Woodburn managed to stop it going out for a corner and crossed in for Wijnaldum to tap in.

Half Time – Liverpool 1 – 1 Sunderland

We made a poor start to the second half as the visitors retook the lead as Ntcham fired into the roof of the net from Galloways header down at a corner. Oxlade-Chamberlain wasted a great chance after great play by Woodburn and the winger fired into the side netting. We did get an equaliser though as Sunderland failed to clear a cross and the grateful Lallana fired in. we failed to take any more chances and had to settle for extra time.

Full Time – Liverpool 1 – 1 Sunderland

Wijnaldum 37, Lallana 80; Grabban 33, Ntcham 61

We should have taken the lead straight into extra time as great wing play by Mané found Dolberg but he could only head over. Another chance was wasted as a Clyne cross found Dolberg who headed down for Woodburn but he could only hit the side netting through a crowd of bodies.

Extra Time Half Time – Liverpool 1 – 1 Sunderland

We were all over Sunderland but found their goalkeeper Ruiter in top form denying Mané twice from one on ones. In the end we had to settle for penalties after having 39 shots in the game.

Extra Time Full Time – Liverpool 1 – 1 Sunderland

Grabban went first for Sunderland and blasted well over. 0-0

Alexander-Arnold went first for us and fired into the top corner. 1-0

Ntcham went next for Sunderland and just managed to beat Mignolet. 1-1

Woodburn went next for us and put his penalty straight down the middle. 2-1

Vaughan was next for Sunderland and he cooly put his penalty in the top corner. 2-2

Dolberg confidently stepped up and just managed to beat Ruiter to the bottom corner. 3-2

Tymon came up next for the visitors and just beat Mignolet to the top corner. 3-3

Wijnaldum was next and once again he just beat Ruiter to the bottom corner. 4-3

McGeady was Sunderland’s fifth penalty taker and he hit the post to send us through. 4-3

Lineup (4-3-3) – Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Clyne, Gomez, Klavan, Grujic, Milner, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Woodburn, Sturridge

Subs: Karius, Matip, Roberto, Can, Lallana, Mané, Dolberg

Barclays Premier League – Match 27

West Ham (A)

The Hammers should have taken an early lead as Lanzini sent Hernandez through on goal but he could only hit the post. We punished that miss soon after as Coutinho robbed the ball off Fonté and he crossed in for a simple finish by Salah. The two Brazilians then combined as Firmino neatly played Coutinho through but he could only shoot at Hart.

Half Time – West Ham 0 – 1 Liverpool

We doubled our lead after half time thanks to our two wingers combing again. Lallana sent a long ball for Salah to run onto and he then put in a good cross that Coutinho volleyed in. Those two then wasted great chances as Salah shot straight at Hart at a one on one and then Coutinho put a free header over. A very professional performance in the end going into the midweek game at Juventus.

Full Time – West Ham 0 – 2 Liverpool

Salah 14, Coutinho 50

Lineup (4-3-3) – Karius, Roberto, Moreno, Matip (67), De Ligt, Can, Henderson, Lallana (67), Salah, Coutinho (71), Firmino

Uefa Champions League – Last 16 First Leg

Juventus (A)

We got off to a horrendous start as Salah gave away an early penalty for a trip on Marchisio. Dybala stepped on and just beat Mignolet. We should have equalised midway through the half as Coutinho played a great ball through for Mané but he could only shoot at Buffon.

Half Time – Juventus 1 – 0 Liverpool

We started the second half really well as Salah made up for his early mistake curling around Buffon into the bottom corner. Pjaca then immediately hit the post for Juventus from a tight angle after good wing play by Caviglia. A magical final ten minutes for us then put us in a commanding position for the second leg. A neat counter started by Woodburn and then Coutinho sending a great ball through for Salah to race onto and calmly slot past Buffon. Salah then completed his hat trick after very unselfish play by Woodburn. The young Welsh winger could have had a shot himself but he calmly passed it along for Salah to tap in for his first Liverpool hat trick. Woodburn then got his reward for his efforts as Juventus failed to clear a scramble and the youngster tapped in to give us a big away win.

Full Time – Juventus 1 – 4 Liverpool

Dybala 3 pen; Salah 50 83 90+4, Woodburn 90+5

Lineup (4-3-3) – Mignolet, Roberto, Moreno, Matip, De Ligt, Can (70), Milner, Coutinho, Salah, Mané (65), Firmino (70)

FA Cup – Fifth Round

Norwich (A)

A completely different 11 for this one and we got off to a great start. Norwich failed to clear our corner and Lallana found Grujic in space for him to volley in. We had a couple of good chances in the first half that we should have done better on. Woodburn made a great run down the left and crossed in for Dolberg to volley wide. Then Lallana had a free header from a Henderson cross but the header lacked any power to trouble the keeper.

Half Time – Norwich 0 – 1 Liverpool

We should have doubled our lead after half time as Dolberg sent Oxlade-Chamberlain away down the right flank but he could only shoot at the keeper. Norwich’s task became more difficult with fifteen minutes left as Tettey was sent off for a second yellow card. The result was wrapped up at the end as a neat passing move was finished off by Wijnaldum on the edge of the box.

Full Time – Norwich 0 – 2 Liverpool

Tettey s/o 74, Grujic 6, Wijnaldum 90

Barclays Premier League – Match 28

Huddersfield (A)

We should have took an early lead after two minutes as Firmino found the run of Roberto from right back but his effort found the side netting. We did take the lead though halfway through the half as Mané’s cross to the back stick was about to be tapped in by Salah but was instead put in his own net by Schindler. We got a second before as break from a penalty as Firmino was adjudged to have been pushed by El Kaoutari. The reliable Milner made no mistake putting the ball in the top corner.

Half Time – Huddersfield 0 – 2 Liverpool

The hosts should have pulled one back straight from kickoff after excellent buildup play but Williams could only shoot wide. They made no mistake next time though as a great passing move started by keeper Lossl was finished by the one-two between Mounié and Palmer with the former heading in. We failed to create anything in the second half but luckily the work had been done in the first half.

Full Time – Huddersfield 1 – 2 Liverpool

Mounié 53; Schindler o/g 21, Milner pen 38

Lineup  (4-3-3) – Karius, Roberto, Moreno, De Ligt, Matip, Can, Milner (63), Coutinho (72), Salah (72), Mané, Firmino

Carabao Cup – Final

Stoke (Wembley)

A great first half by us saw us being 2 up at half time thanks to a brace by Firmino. First, Henderson caught Shaqiri dallying on the ball and immediately sent Firmino through and the Brazilian smashed his effort in off the bar. He should have had his second when a long ball by Can found Firmino but he could only place his shot wide. He did get his second on the stroke of half time though. Stoke could only clear our corner straight to Can who then fed it along for Firmino to volley into the top corner from twenty five yards.

Half Time – Liverpool 2 – 0 Stoke

An end to end second half saw both sides wasting good chances. For Stoke  a quick counter led by Berahino and the striker sent through Fletcher but he wasted his chance firing wide with just Karius to beat. Salah should killed the game off as he led a one man counter from our own box but he lost his composure and fired over. He then put in a good cross for Firmino to get his hat trick but he headed wide from close range. We saw the game out from their comfortably won the first piece of silverware of the season.

Barclays Premier League – Match 29

Everton (H)

A poor start from us saw Everton take the lead inside ten minutes. A neat Everton counter found Mirallas in space down the right and the winger crossed into the path of an unmarked Barkley to volley past Mignolet. We soon turned it around though with some quality goals. First, a neat passing move was ended by Alexander-Arnold teeing up Oxlade-Chamberlain to curl into the top corner from the edge of the area. Then we countered an Everton attack and Mané crossed into the near post that was tapped in by Alexander-Arnold.

Half Time – Liverpool 2 – 1 Everton

We got a two goal cushion not long after half time due to a bit of luck. We played a corner straight to the edge of the Area for Henderson to strike and he saw his effort deflected into his own net by Holgate. Everton should have pulled one back ten minutes from time as Barkley led a counter and fed an unmarked Sandro in the box but he blasted over. The three points were sealed at the end as Alexander-Arnold passed over to Robertson in space and the left back fired into the top corner from twenty five yards out.

Full Time – Liverpool 4 – 1 Everton

Barclays Premier League – Match 30

Man City (A)

We came into this game 13 points clear of 2nd placed City knowing a win would give us chance of sealing the title in a few games time. A bright start could have seen us being three up within fifteen minutes. First Coutinho, found Lallana unmarked at a free kick but he fired wide. Then a quick counter by us saw Salah heading onto Lallana but he again fired wide. Our early pressure eventually paid off as Salah out-paced Mendy on the right flank and passed along the six yard box for Coutinho to tap in. City equalised straight away as D.Silva chipped up to Aguero and the Argentinian out-paced our defense, went around Karius and tapped into an empty net.

Half Time - Man City 1 – 1 Liverpool

City took the lead ten minutes after the break as Sané put on a burst of pace down the left side and crossed into an umarked Jésus to head in. We equalised soon after though as Bravo gave the ball straight back to us. Firmino then sent Coutinho running through and he blasted into the top corner for his second goal. Not long after that we retook the lead as we robbed the ball off Mendy and Roberto sent Lallana running through with the midfielder wrong footing Bravo with a neat finish. We held on firm from there for a vital 3 points that sees us go 15 points clear of a now 2nd placed Chelsea with 8 games left.

Uefa Champions League – Last 16 Second Leg

Juventus (H)

With us taking a 4-1 lead from the first leg into this match I made some changes to rest a few legs. Juventus should have taken the lead inside ten minutes as a stunning one touch passing move swept past our defense and was hit wide by Mandzukic who should have scored. We should have then took the lead as a great cross by Mané found Coutinho six yards out but he embarrassingly put it well over. The reverse combination worked soon after though as Coutinho crossed towards the back post for Mané to volley in.

Half Time – Liverpool 1 (5) – (1) 0 Juventus

The same combination for the goal nearly worked again after the break as Mané out-paced the Juventus defense down the right side and crossed over to Coutinho who could only head straight at Buffon. Dybala then almost equalised with a moment of brilliance as he tried to chip Mignolet but saw it hit the cross bar. The youngster then saw his luck get even worse as he saw a penalty saved by Mignolet after a shirt pull by De Ligt.

Full Time – Liverpool 1 (5) – (1) 0 Juventus

Mané 22

Lineup (4-3-3) – Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, De Ligt, Gomez, Henderson, Milner (37), Wijnaldum (72), Mané, Coutinho (61), Woodburn

Barclays Premier League – Match 31

Crystal Palace (H)

A win against an over achieving Palace would see us seal a top four position but we were pretty wasteful with our finishing. Robertson played through Mané to be one on one with the keeper but he his effort wide. Mané then had another good chance as he put a free header over from a corner by Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Half Time – Liverpool 0 – 0 Crystal Palace

Mané must have left his shooting boots at home as he wasted another good chance shooting straight at keeper Khune after a nice through ball by Lallana. We couldn’t break Palace down from there and had to settle for a point.

Full Time – Liverpool 0 – 0 Crystal Palace

Lineup (4-3-3) – Mignolet, Clyne, Robertson, De Ligt, Matip, Can, Henderson, Lallana, Mané (62), Oxlade-Chamberlain (72), Dolberg (62)

Barclays Premier League – Match 32

Man Utd (A)

We knew we only needed a point to qualify for next seasons Champions League and we took the lead halfway through the first half. Mata had his shot blocked in a crowded area and the ball fell kindly for Coutinho. The Brazilian did brilliant to get past two United players and then crossing for Firmino to nod down for Lallana to easily tap in. United were struggling to break us down and handling the lively Coutinho who had a speculative drive go over after easily going past two players.

Half Time – Man Utd 0 – 1 Liverpool

United got an equaliser soon after the break as they overloaded us down their right flank. Mata sent Valencia away down the right hand side and he crossed in for Lukaka to head into the top corner. Neither side created any more chances and settled for a draw that qualifies us for next seasons Champions League.

Full Time – Man Utd 1 – 1 Liverpool

FA Cup – Sixth Round

Stoke (H)

Stoke were looking to get revenge over their Carabao Cup final defeat to us but were dealt a blow after four minutes. Oxlade-Chamberlain put on a burst of pace down the righ hand side and crossed in which was headed away by Zouma. The ball was then nodded down by Wijnaldum and Woodburn fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the area. No further chances came from there with us holding off a defensive minded Stoke with ease.

Half Time – Liverpool 1 – 0 Stoke

We should have extended our lead ten minutes after the break as more good wing play by Oxlade-Chamberlain found Dolberg at the near post but he headed wide. The forward made no mistake five minutes from time though as Moreno sent in a looping cross to the back post that was headed in by Dolberg for his tenth of the season.

Full Time – Liverpool 2 – 0 Stoke

Woodburn 4, Dolberg 85

Lineup (4-2-3-1) – Mignolet, Clyne, Moreno, Klavan, Gomez, Grujic (67), Wijnaldum (67), Oxlade-Chamberlain, Woodburn, Mané (13), Dolberg

Barclays Premier League - Match 33

Southampton (H)

We got off to a good start after fifteen minutes as first Coutinho had a long range shot well saved by Forster. From the resulting corner, Coutinho swung into the near post which was flicked on by Matip and volleyed in by Milner. Five minutes later we got a second as the same routine worked again at the corner but this time Matip headed in himself. Our pre match training on set pieces had worked a treat. Five minutes before the break the game was as good as over. First, Lemina was sent off for a seconf bookable offense on Coutinho. Then from the resulting free kick Coutinho curled into the top corner from 35 yards out.

Half Time – Liverpool 3 – 0 Southampton

We had a goal disallowed straight after half time as Matip tapped in after a scrable at a corner but the ref had already blown for a free kick. Southampton had to finish the game with 9 men as Tadic got injured after using all 3 subs. We got a fourth goal before the end as Moreno was given space outside the area and blasted into the top corner.

Uefa Champions League – Quarter Final First Leg

Benfica (A)

We got off to a great start after we broke down a Benfica attack and made a two man couter attack. De Ligt fed it straight to Salah who then Firmino in the middle. The Brazilian gave it back to Salah who did well to get past his man and then cross in for Firmino to tap in at the near post. We almost scored a goal of real quality ten minutes later as we must have passed around at least 30 times that was finally fed into the run of Coutinho who poorly shot at the keeper. We had to thank Mignolet before the break making a world class save denying Haris from two yards out.

Half Time – Benfica 0 – 1 Liverpool

Benfica got an equaliser straight after the break as a long ball into the box from a free kick was headed down by Luisao and blasted in from close range by Fejsa. We retook the lead fifteen minutes before time and got a crucial second away goal. Mané burst down the right side of the area and put in an average cross that wasn’t dealt with. The ball fell kindly for Firmino to tap in at the far post that turned out to be the winner and put us in a commanding position.

Full Time – Benfica 1 – 2 Liverpool

Barclays Premier League – Match 34

Bournemouth (H)

Thanks to City’s draw in midweek we had the chance to secure the title today in front of our own fans with 4 games to spare. We got the opening goal we needed after fifteen minutes as Milner sent a great long ball to Mané on the right flank. The winger in turn sent a great cross into the 6 yard box that was volleyed in by Sturridge. We should have given ourselves clear daylight as Mané led a counter down the right flank and sent a great cross for Woodburn to tap in but the Welshman somehow fired over from five yards.

Half Time – Liverpool 1 – 0 Bournemouth

We got a second goal straight after the break as Aké played a suicidal back pass towards Begovic that was easily intercepted by Sturridge and the striker easily got his second goal sliding the ball around Begovic. The match and the title was as good as ours on the hour mark as Moreno put in a cross which in turn was headed down by Milner and volleyed in by Sturridge for his hat trick. We got a fourth not long after as we caught Bournemouth napping in possession. Salah quickly sprinted down the right and chipped over to Sturridge and he once again blasted into the bottom corner. Both Sturridge and Milner were withdrawn then to standing ovations. It wasn’t long after when the final whistle went and the league title finally came back to Anfield after a dominant result fittingly summed up a dominant league season.

Uefa Champions League – Quarter Final Second Leg

Benfica (H)

We had a chance to give ourselves a two goal cushion in the tie early on as we was awarded a penalty for a clear handball by Fernandez. The normally reliable Milner stepped up but saw his penalty well saved. We almost took the lead just before half time as Coutinho saw his free kick go just over the bar.

Half Time – Liverpool 0 (2) – (1) 0 Benfica

We got the two goal cushion we wanted straight after half time as the Benfica keeper played a poor long ball up straight to Roberto. He headed down to Wijnaldum and he in turn sent Salah racing away. The Egyptian unselfishly pulled it back to Firmino to tap in from eight yards out. The match became as good as over with fifteen left to go as Henderson found Salah who broke the offside trap and managed to slide the ball in at the near post.

Barclays Premier League – Match 35

Newcastle (A)

A pretty quiet first half for us as the new champions with ten changes made. It showed as we only had one clear chance all half as Mané was slipped in by Lallana but he could only shoot at Darlow. Newcastle had a couple of good chances themselves as Oxlade-Chamberlain played a poor back pass to Mignolet. Gayle intercepted and was brialliantly denied by Mignolet at his near post.

Half Time – Newcastle 0 – 0 Liverpool

The Magpies took the lead soon after the break after a slick passing move was finally finished off by Diamé heading in a brilliant cross by Gayle. We equalised straight from the kickoff though as Lallana sent Mané down the right wing and he crossed into an unmarked Woodburn to blast in. The two then combined again as Woodburn sent a cross into the back post that was headed onto the bar by Mané. We took the lead with ten minutes to go as Newcastle defender Lejeune carelessly passed straight to Woodburn. The Welshman repaid the earlier goal by sending away Mané in space on the left and he fired past a helpless Darlow. Newcastle equalised not long after though as Shelvey’s corner was headed into the top corner by Diamé to give Newcastle a share of the spoils after a great second half.

Wednesday 18th April 2018

Barclays Premier League – Match 36

Tottenham (H)

An energetic start could have seen us three up in the first five minutes but had to settle for just being one up. After twenty seconds Moreno found Roberto in acres of space in the box but he could only hit the bar. Then a few minutes later Lloris had to pull a world class save out of the bag to deny Firmino. We finally took the lead on five minutes after a neat one-two by Firmino and Coutinho saw the latter beat Lloris at his near post. We were carving Spurs open up with ease as a minute later Firmino missed a glorius one on one chance with Lloris but he could only hit the post. We got a second just after the ten minute mark as Roberto found Milner in space on the edge of the box and he placed a perfect strike into the top corner. After thirteen minutes we got a third as Salah hit a fierce strike from a corner routine at the near post. We got a fourth after twenty minutes as we again carved Spurs open like a hot knife through butter. Milner played a through ball in the left channel for Coutinho who could have shot himself but he unselfishly pulled it back for Lallana to blast home. It wasn’t long after we got a fifth as Spurs made a rare attack but De Ligt intercepted and immediately sent Salah racing away. The Egyptian outpaced the Spurs defense and composed himself to easily slot past Lloris. We got a sixth just before half time after a superb team move starting from our own goal kick. There must have been at least twenty passes until an inch perfect cross by Coutinho was tapped in at the far post by Milner. Spurs got one back just before half time as we didn’t clear a simple corner and Kane had the simple task of tapping in. A breathtaking half of football!

Half Time – Liverpool 6 – 1 Tottenham

We got a seventh goal straight after half time as patient build-up play was rewarded by Lallana slipping in Salah who tapped in to complete his hat trick. Kane got his second of the match as we gave the ball away and the Target man latched onto Eriksen’s through ball and blasted past Karius. Spurs got a third as a great cross by Rose was initially headed onto the bar by Dembelé but the rebound fell nicely for him to tap in. We managed to get an eighth goal as Woodburn’s cross was headed on by Milner and the ball was perfectly for Firmino to volley in. A completely bonkers game of football!

Full Time – Liverpool 8 – 3 Tottenham

FA Cup – Semi Final

Watford (Wembley)

A really tight first half with only one notable chance. A neat passing move saw Sturridge sending Moreno through but he disappointingly shot wide. Half time came with Watford failing to register a shot on goal.

Half Time – Liverpool 0 – 0 Watford

We got the opening goal of the game a few minutes after the break as a failed Watford attack led to a devastating counter attack. Mané caught Prodl napping on the ball and he sped clean through on goal from the halfway line. Instead of shooting himself which he had every right to, Mané unselfishly gave Oxlade-Chamberlain an empty goal to slot into. The Englishman then nearly gave away an equaliser as poor control by the winger gave the ball to Deeney who was denied by Mignolet at the near post. Watford got an equaliser in stoppage time as Deeney put in a great cross that was headed in by Richarlison. We had to finish the game with ten men as Clyne got injured after we had used all our subs.

Full Time – Liverpool 1 – 1 Watford

Watford should have taken the lead in extra time as a breakway led by Deeney found Hughes one on one with Mignolet but he somehow managed to blast miles over.

Extra Time Half Time – Liverpool 1 – 1 Watford

We took the lead in extra time as a patient passing move ended with a fantastic through ball by Moreno finding Woodburn and the Welshman had the composure to slot past Gomes. Hughes then looked like he had equalised with a header that was top corner bound but was denied by a world class Mignolet save. We saw the game out from there and progressed to the FA Cup final.

Extra Time Full Time – Liverpool 2 – 1 Watford

Oxlade-Chamberlain 49, Woodburn 115; Richarlison 90+2

Uefa Champions League – Semi Final First Leg

PSG (A)

We went into the game without our two Brazilians and received an early warning as Cavani easily got around Matip and hit the post. We got an away goal though on thirteen minutes as Roberto broke up a quick PSG counter and we clinically broke away. Henderson found Mané in space on the left and he fed the overlapping Milner. Milner then put in a great cross to the back post which was volleyed in by Salah. Mané then found himself in acres of space on the left and put in a cross for Salah but this time he was denied by Trapp. It was proving to be an open game as Cavani had another good chance but was stopped by a brilliant Karius save. We got a second away goal half an hour in as a slick passing move from our own penalty area was finished by Salah this time turning provider for Mané to volley in. Cavani finally pulled one back for PSG as a poor clearance by De Ligt found Rabiot who immediately sent Cavani through to blast into the bottom corner. We almost restored our two goal cushion just before the half time whistle as Salah unluckily hit the post from a tight angle.

Half Time – PSG 1 – 2 Liverpool

A really open game continued in the second half as Cavani equalised for PSG as Mané miss controlled the ball and was pounced on by Alves. The Brazilian quickly fed Cavani and he again easily got past my defense and blasted in. Mané soon got his revenge on Alves though as the full back left acres of space for the winger to run into and Mané put in a perfect cross for Salah to head in. Salah had a couple of chances to get his hat trick as first he was denied by a brilliant save by Trapp from 3 yards out. Then Robertson put Salah clean through on goal but the Egyptian could only shoot wide. We saw the game out from there to take 3 away goals back to Anfield.

Full Time – PSG 2 – 3 Liverpool

Cavani 45+1 48; Salah 13 52, Mané 33

Roberto Firmino has returned to training in time for the match with PSG. The monthly awards are out and James Milner has won the Player of the Month award. Ben Woodburn has also won the Young Player of the Month award.

Uefa Champions League – Semi Final Second Leg

PSG (H)

We had a brilliant start as we raced into a two goal lead inside ten minutes. First the returning Firmino sent Mané racing down the right flank and crossed it back for Firmino to volley in. Then Salah caught Alves napping on the right flank as he latched onto a through ball by Milner and the Egyptian calmly curled the ball past Trapp into the top corner. The tie looked as good as over at half time as Mané’s free kick by the corner flag was flicked on by De Ligt in the six yard box and volleyed in at the far post by Matip.

Half Time – Liverpool 3 (6) – (2) 0 PSG

We were foolishly reduced to ten men in the second half as Roberto picked up a needless second yellow ruling him out of the final. PSG looked like they had given up which helped us comfortably ease into the Champions League final!

Full Time – Liverpool 3 (6) – (2) 0 PSG

Firmino 6, Salah 9, Matip 41, Roberto s/o 51

Barclays Premier League – Match 37

Watford (A)

Watford should have taken the lead inside three minutes as Gray put Docouré through on goal but he somehow hit the bar. We soon punished that missed chance as Dolberg put a neat through ball down the right channel to Salah who made no mistake firing into the top corner. We got a second goal five minutes from time as Salah turned provider sending in an inch perfect cross from the left flank that was headed in by Oxlade-Chamberlain at the far post. Watford pulled a goal back deservedly on the stroke of half time as Carrilo put in a cross across the 6 yard box which was tapped in by Traoré.

Half Time – Watford 1 – 2 Liverpool

We restored our two goal cushion not long after the break as quick one touch football was finished by Salah crossing in for Dolberg to half volley in. We only had a few more chances after that as Watford had accepted damage limitation and kept the scoreline as it was.

Full Time – Watford 1 – 3 Liverpool

Traoré 45; Salah 7, Oxlade-Chamberlain 39, Dolberg 54

Lineup (4-3-3) – Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Moreno, Gomez, Klavan, Grujic (65), Wijnaldum (74), Lallana, Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain (65), Dolberg

Sunday 13th May 2018

Barclays Premier League – Match 38

Brighton (H)

We enter the final league game of the season knowing a point would secure a record points haul for us. Brighton however had to win to stay avoid relegation. We got off to a good start as Mané opened the scoring despite looking offside from Firmino’s chip over to him. Firmino then should have doubled our lead as Mané repaid the favour with a reverse pass but the Brazilian hit the bar. Then we hit the woodwork again as Alexander-Arnold hit the post from a 20 yard free kick.

Half Time – Liverpool 1 – 0 Brighton

The second half had a real end of season feel to it with not much happening despite Brighton needing to win. That task came much harder with three minutes to go as Propper was sent off for his second yellow card. Milner came close at the end with a long drive that was well saved by Ryan. From the resulting corner the result was sealed as Woodburn headed in Dolberg’s corner at the near post. The league season ended with contrasting scenes on the pitch as Brighton’s players fell to ground in tears as they were relegated whilst the Liverpool players celebrated the league title in fron of the Kop.

Full Time – Liverpool 2 – 0 Brighton

Mané 13, Woodburn 90+1; Propper s/o 87

FA Cup – Final

Bournemouth (Wembley)

Bournmeouth should have taken an early lead as Wilson was clean through on goal but could only shoot straight at Karius. We punished that error as Henderson picked out Salah on the left flank and he put in a great cross for Firmino to tap in. Firmino then got his second goal on the half hour mark as Mané outpaced his marker down the right flank and crossed in for Firmino to tap in. Bournemouth were struggling to contain us and we had good chances through Firmino and Milner but had to settle for a 2 goal lead at half time.

Half Time – Liverpool 2 – 0 Bournemouth

In the second half were seemed too focused on trying to walk the ball into the net which took us until the final minute to do. One of the team moves of the season must have had at least 30 one touch passes saw our patient play rewarded when Firmino finally played through Woodburn who beat Begovic to the ball and tapped into an empty net. A comfortable in the end for us which completes a domestic treble. Next stop the Champions League Final to complete the quadruple!

Full Time – Liverpool 3 – 0 Bournemouth

Firmino 25 30, Woodburn 90+4

Lineup (4-3-3) – Karius, Roberto, Robertson, De Ligt (70), Matip, Can (62), Milner, Henderson, Salah, Mané (62), Firmino

Uefa Champions League – Final

Tottenham (NSC Olympiyskyi)

Spurs had a glorious chance in the opening five minutes to take the lead as Dier chipped into the path of Son who only had Karius to beat but he could only fire wide. It was a really cagey match and the closest we came in the first half was Salah shooting over from the edge of the area

Half Time – Liverpool 0 – 0 Tottenham

It was proving to be one of the most boring finals ever but it finally livened up right at the end. Just as it looked like it was going to extra time we got the breakthrough as Firmino passed it along to Mané who then put on a burst of pace past Aurier. The winger slid in an inch perfect cross for Firmino to tap into the bottom corner from six yards out. A minute later the quadruple was sealed as the same combination worked again as Mané just managed to stop the ball going out for a goal kick and pulled it back for Firmino to tap into an empty net. An historic night for us as we won our sixth European Cup and a famous quadruple.

Full Time – Liverpool 2 – 0 Tottenham

Firmino 90 90+1

Lineup (4-3-3) – Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, De Ligt, Matip, Can (66), Milner, Henderson, Salah, Mané, Firmino

Subs: Mignolet, Gomez, Moreno, Lallana, Wijnaldum (66), Woodburn, Sturridge

That concludes this story as I now struggle for time to play the game. Thank you all for following my best save i've ever had on fm.
