Just the three games in November – we’ve got a mammoth December coming up – but two draws were poor. We should be beating both Motherwell and Aberdeen, really, but equalizers in the last twenty minutes of both games secured draws. Conversely, two goals in the last 15 minutes against Dundee won the derby – and proved that there were goals in every position of this team.

Interesting, long December. If it weren’t for the 92nd minute goal Celtic score in the first game of the month, we would have topped the table at Christmas after three brilliant games – including 4-1 thrashing of Inverness. But after those three games we were porr toward the end of the month, as the matches piled up. 0-0 With Partick and a 2-1 loss to Falkirk are really poor and we allowed both Rangers and Celtic to catch us.

We go into the New Year second, mind you, which is a positive and still in touching distance of the top…

World’s TopJohn: Remains Juan Mata who, once again, made the world Team of the Year with another spectacular season for Manchester United

Ballon d’Or: Once again goes to Lionel Messi, who is quite good at football.

European Golden Boy: Is Victor Kovalenko of Dynamo Kiev, who, despite being the best youngster in Europe and worth £19m, I can’t see any attributes of…

What happened? Seriously? 2 points in 6 games, 5 points in 7, and we plummeted briefly to 4th. I’m baffled. Chris Kane wasn’t firing and that often coincides with a downturn in form, but he scored two in the anti-penultimate and penultimate games of the month and still we drew and lost. Terrible. At least we managed to beat Aberdeen at the end, despite our best efforts to throw away two goal leads at 2-0 and 3-1. Kane proved how vital he was to us with a hattrick.

Scottish Cup:

On the positive side, at least we did well in the cups. A good victory over Inverness in the Scottish Cup got us to a 5th round tie with Hibs.

League Cup

However, more importantly we reached our second consecutive League Cup Final, where we will play Hibs as well. A chopped and changed team beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Hampden Park to send us through. Hooray!
