ipswichjon2
This 433 tactic has proved pretty successful for me in my first season with Ipswich (media prediction 11th) second and top scorers in the league with 8 games to go and only two permanent signings. The basic structure of the tactic is solid and scores goals but you must tweak player roles to suit your team, no square pegs in round holes! Up front: My team isn't particularly strong but I have 4 strikers rotating across my front 3 but the key to this is tweaking the roles so they wider strikers are generally false 9s on support and a poacher in the centre but when I play my big strong lad Daryl Murphy I set him to a target man support or attack depending on if he's wide or through the middle. Middle of the park: The three midfielders have three specific roles, the central player is the most creative, he's usually set to Centre midfield on attack but I have tweaked this to roaming playmaker and advanced playmaker esepcially when it suits the player in the role. The box to box midfielder has to be a good all rounder with high work rate and team work; he'll break into the box providing a few goals and assists but mainly dragging players out of position. The ball winning midfielder sits deeper and breaks up counter attacks, he needs good positioning and tackling as well as anticipation. The midfield generally have lowish stats but they do a job for the team. At the back: You'll want your quicker centre back on cover so swap them over if they have a right or left side preference. Your fullbacks are vital to this tactic, they provide the width and a sack load of assists so high workrate, crossing and a bit of pace are a must. Once the tactic beds in you'll hopefully find yourself having some success, if the team builds momentum you can really take the opposition apart: Again, remember tweaking the player roles is vital. I also tweak from attack to counter if I'm narrowly winning with 10 minutes to go and overload if I'm behind with team talks from the touchline to concentrate or demand more assertively. I don't use opposition instructions often but if I do it's to put a one footed player onto their weaker foot and to go in hard on a skillful but not so brave attacking player. My team talks are generally assertive sometimes I'll calmly praise the lads at half time or full time and if they've let a two goal lead slip or played poorly I'll get all aggressive and lay down the law. I've only done this three times during the season and it led to a halftime comeback and a good reaction in the next two matches but you have to use it sparingly or it loses it's effect. I hope the tactic proves useful to people, I'm actually going to be away for a week so sorry if I can't reply to any questions, thanks for looking! I'll try this too to see how it goes with my team.
ipswichjon2
End of season update, CHAMPIONS! with +43 goal difference (93F 50A) and only 9 defeats all season, all this with a fairly mediocre team predicted to finish in mid table. My four front men rotated the front 3 positions (supplemented by a couple of short term loans to cover injuries) with McGoldrick (23 goals) & Pitman (19 goals) featuring in the most games, while Murphy (11 goals) and Sears (16 goals) provided ample support! Key to success has been man-managing the squad, especially the strikers, praising them when they score and holding team meetings to encourage the squad. I mix up the team talks but generally stick to assertive praise and encouragment when a game starts and then encourage or concentrate at half time. I only change this if the boys have performed poorly in which case I go assertive or aggressive criticising them. Now onto the premier league, I'll look to bolster my attack and midfield as well as laying out some cash on a top keeper. I'll post an update later. Final League table: Notable thrashings:
ipswichjon2
Back in the EPL and I'm predicted to finish bottom and the odds against me being top are four figures, this is a real test of the tactics ability to make the difference when the opposition have better players in almost every position. I decide I'll need reinforcements so I splash the cash on a top keeper in the form of Chelsea bench warmer Asmir Begovic and Ipswich old boy Jordan Rhodes tweaking the central striker's role to advanced role to suit him, it pays off, he's second top scorer by Christmas: As we enter the new year Ipswich sit in 6th: It's noticeable that my tactic is primarily about pressing and winning the ball back as we top of the tackles won stats: All this with the smallest wage budget in the league: I hope some of you guys give the tactic ago and see how you do. Remember tweaking the roles and keeping confidence high through good man management is key!
ipswichjon2
Version 2 of the tactic now on the opening post, this one includes tweaked opposition instructions that mean a few more yellow cards but lots more ball winning high up the pitch leading to more goals! ipswichjon2
I've set it to closing down always and tackling hard on all opposition positions - basically trying to swarm all over the opposition. I also switch between control and attacking depending on how strong the opposition are.

ipswichjon2
I think the tactic can be described as a success now. Season 1 my mid table predicted Ipswich team won the league, Season 2 predicted for relegation we've come second in the league with points to spare, but for a rampant mega-bucks Chelsea we might even have won the league. On top of this we absolutely mauled Spurs to win the Coca-Cola Cup and Jordan Rhodes won the golden boot with goals in appearances Below are some highlight result and final league table: Final League Table: Jordan Rhodes Goal Machine: All my strikers performed well: Loads of assists from my full backs: Battering Arsenal: Hammering Spurs:

When u mean close down and tackling hard for the opposition players do u mean all midfielder, AM and Striker positions?

ipswichjon2
Sorry for the late reply, laptop wouldn't connect to the wifi after the last crappy windows update :-( Training I leave to my assistant manager - I only really change this if the assistant manager is pants, I started with Terry Connor who was pretty good but I upgraded to Alan Irvine: As for the opposition instruction, here you go:
brindlefly
Took over Blackburn in 2017 and started using this after a slow start to the season and the results...see for yourself (no idea what happened League Cup week!!) ipswichjon2
Glad it's working for someone else. I have also switched between control/attacking/overload for underdogs/evens/favourites. What were the match stats for the two defeats? I have had the odd game where I've murdered teams but the opposition keeper gets MoM and we narrowly lose. I think that's inevitable. ipswichjon2
Right, update time! After a couple of weeks with no laptop thanks to the idiots at PC specialist I'm back up and running and have completed season 3 and WOW, just WOW! I think we had a bit of good fortune with injuries and some signings who were transfer listed and came good but we definitely over achieved with the players in my Ipswich squad. We finished Premier League, Champions League & League Cup Winners, Jordan Rhodes got European Cup golden boot and Zach Clough got player of the year: Bought for £6m
