Does FM utilise hyper threading? i7 vs i5

Is there a benefit for FM specifically in running with an i7 processor over an i5? Especially in regards to hyper threading and increased processing speed.

So it wouldn't really make that much of a difference in day to day processing

Ok, I saw your benchmarks in the thread, how many leagues and players do you run in your game and how roughly does an end of season or matchday processing last (to me these are the two longest processing 'times' in game)

well, no, HT is splitting 4 real cores into 8, when you have more tasks running you have more options for dedication of tasks across more cpus, when you pull 100% load they are still 4 cores.

i5-4670 is same speed as I7-4770 non K(except for +0,1Ghz on turbo), what really gives a bit of edge is more cache 8Mb vs. 6Mb, but it's not worth the price you pay(this is FM only, other applications is another story)

Not really, last time I checked (it was either Fm2015 or 2014) - if I remember correctly FM barely used any Ram, and only about 14% at most of my quad core i7's abilities.

As I & others have shown there is a benefit to having a high end/extreme family cpu, they allow the user to get more realism out of FM through the use of more detailed match processing.

There has been threads with detailed benchmarking for previous versions and the i7 is a fair bit faster.

Personally, I found a top end i7 to be somewhere around 25-35% quicker than an i5 for fm.

If you are on a budget, I would recommend the i5.

It might be actually more interesting to see the difference between an i5 and i7 versus the difference between a hard drive and a solid state drive.

I would say you would be better spending your money on a SSD if you don't already use one.

Loading the game up and saving is faster with an SSD.

It won't make much difference during gameplay.

I don't think that is right tbh, FM is always using the hard drive, maybe someone from SI can comment on this.
