[FM14] European Super League *V4 Released*

Recommended Posts

Following on from my FM13 European Super League, I am creating a new one for FM14.

This is based in England and the divisions are as follows:

Leagues

  • These will all run with 2 automatic promotion places and 1 promotion place and 3 relegation places.
  • Clubs have been placed in a league using the reputation set by Sports Interactive (barring few exceptions in post #7) to remove any bias
  • Where two or more clubs have the same reputation with one remaining space, this is down to my discretion.
  • Normal leagues such as Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A, Bundesliga, Eredivise etc will be inactive and unplayable
  • Prize money should be set for positions 1-20 for Premier League (£50-£40.5m), 1-24 for Championship (£40-£28.5m), League 1 (£28-£16.5m) & League 2 (£16-£4.5m) and position 1 & 2 for Conference Premier, First Division & Second Division.

Premier League (20 teams)

Championship (24 teams)

League 1 (24 teams)

League 2 (24 teams)

Conference Premier (24 teams)

Conference First Division (22 teams)

Conference Second Division (22 teams)

League Cup (92 teams) - Winner gets £5m

Please Note: Leagues are based on club reputation set in the official Football Manager editor by the SI Research Team. Where two or more clubs have the same reputation, it is down to my personal choice on what leagues the clubs are in, so please do not be offended if your team is in a lower division.

to be honest, I am quite dissapointed because I don't see any teams from Poland and you have put Romanian, Bulgarian, Czech and Serbian which league's are at the same level with Polish Ekstraklasa, There are Legia Warszawa, Wisla Krakow or Lech Poznan which have a reputation of over 5500 If I am not mistaken, Wisla Krakow, Legia Warszawa or Lech Poznan, one of those three teams should be at least in League 2 and two other in Conference Premier League.

Legia (6000) & Lech (5750) are in the Euro Non League which is non playable and Wisla's reputation (4600) is too low

Hello Michael, thanks for you're efforts. I will give this a test run. I have a few questions though.

Did you set up reserve & youth leagues? Is there an u-19 cup in place similar to the nextgen champions league?

Also , since all continental competitions are now disabled, isn't there room for creating new domestic cups to take advantage of these unused match dates? Perhaps a champions league style format for the top 2 divisions could be implemented? Are the lower league cups, such as the auto-windscreen trophy (or whatever it is called) still active?

Hi,

Yes there's an U21 and U18 league (same as in England)

There is currently the League Cup & FA Cup and I will try to add the conference cups in too for the next release. I think adding a champions league style competition will create huge fixture congestions as players in most divisions will also play for their country.

Allright, u21 & u18 leagues looking good. u21 cup in place but it could be more substantial. u18 cup seems to be in place.

There seems to be an issue with some of the teams not having the correct secondary and third teams. For example Werder Bremen has Werder Bremen II which is completly inactive competition wise and thus Werder Bremen has no u18 team. Some other teams have the same issue Cluj for example.

Real Madrid has a bloated number of secondary and third string teams. In my save their u21 and u19 teams have no players but they are enrolled in competitions. All Real Madrid's developing players are still in Castilla and Real Madrid "C". I imagine this would also be the case for other spanish teams.

Edit: I holidayed through one season and this db is looking quite good, still could do with some tweaks - namely fixing the issues with some clubs u21 and u19 squads. I also noticed that the Champions League and Europa League are still showing up in the game (and for some reason under English competitions) but you have reduced them to one leg final games between some low reputation clubs. So not really an issue there. I take it the CL and EL can't be removed all-together.

All in all, looking quite good, however I just noticed that newgens created for Barcelona and Real Madrid ALL have English nationalities. This is a real shame, hope it can be fixed. Must be related to the issue mentioned above.

Will continue to have a look at this. Thanks again for your work.

I have some more thoughts if you don't mind.

I would like to see the u21 teams changed to the good old reserve squads, if possible. I see a lot of unwanted first team players rotting away in the u21's and not getting any games at all because of age restrictions. Having active reserve squads would see more players getting game time and this would also make for an excellent shopping window where lower league managers could find real bargains by scouting reserve games. In addition, I like to sign aging professionals that have passed their peak but make for excellent tutors for my youngsters. Having no age restrictions in reserve games would help this policy immensely.

In line with this suggestion, I´d change the u18's to u20's, if possible. This way you could continue to groom your youngsters in the youth team a while longer before having to promote them to the first or reserve team.

Finally, I firmly believe you should consider adding new cup competitions as suggested before. Fixture congestion isn't really an issue for English teams playing Continental football in the original version. I personally would much prefer to play 50+ games a season instead of the mere 40 games you are guaranteed to get playing as a Premier League team in the current version.

Premier League Clubs

38 league games

up to 5 League Cup games if you reach the final

up to 6 FA Cup games if you reach the final

Total 49 games

Think that's enough tbf

I've noticed that a lot of teams (not just Spanish) have their nation set as England so they create English newgens. Is there a reason it's like that? It's a shame as it means a lot of these teams will lose their identity after a few years.
