    I am trying to sign obafemi martins from rubin on a free although he is still under contract till the end of the season but it says I will have to pay 4.5 mil in compensation. does anyone know why this is?

    I think there was a thread about this before. I believe that's the way it works in Russia and not like it does in most european countries.

    Russia is not part of the EU and therefore the Bosman Ruling does not apply.

    I stumbled upon this myself last night when trying to sign Carlos Eduardo from Rubin on a free, they wanted £16.5m in compensation! I think I'll stick to cheaper targets.
