Have a look at my game: Chelsea actually were ahead of me by 14 points going into 2009, and Man United were also second place at that time, 9 points behind Chelsea. Then they started bleeding games and Liverpool and I managed to catch up to them. The title race went all the way to the last matchday and I needed to secure a win to guarantee top spot regardless of results elsewhere since I have superior goal difference.
