Windows Mode

I don't want to sound stupid but here goes anyway. What is windowed mode, how do you do it and is it better? Any help muchly appreciated

Windowed Mode is so that the game appears in a normal window, rather than taking up the whole screen. That way you are able to see the taskbar and the maximise/minimise/close buttons at the top of the window.

To enter it, you need to go to Options > Preferences, select "Display and Sound" in the sidebar, and change it in the Resolution drop-down box. You then must confirm, using the bottom-left option, and the game will re-adjust itself to windowed mode.

on mine it doesnt allow me to select windowed mode

That'll be because you're screen resolution is too low - here's another way to do it for those who can't do it through the game.

I assume you're loading using that shortcut, because any other way wouldn't work. Also, the phrase must come outside the quotes.

Try changing your resolution. Right click on the desktop, click "Personalize" or "Properties" (Vista or XP) and go to Display Settings. I think the minimum for windowed mode is 1152 x 720 pixels. Then you can try again via the game's preferences screen.

Yes, others have noticed that. I haven't personally, but I've only had it in fullscreen for the period of time it took to change it to windowed mode!

really...how did you get windowed mode in 1024 x 768? (i havent played full screen in ages...dont really want to!!)

Have you tried everything suggested above?

i have done everything when i put -windowed -small_screen in the target line the game encouters a problem and closes i need it in windowed mode to play so i can speak to mates at same time

The window mode is hidden this year. Took me 3 days to find it.
