phnompenhandy
Every now and again I see a thread or series of posts arguing about the interconnection between a player's height, and his heading and jumping attributes. Michael Cox of the great Zonal Marking website has done a very interesting and practical analysis of the topic. I thought it might generate some FM discussion: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2012/feb/02/what-constitutes-being-good-in-air
Cougar2010
Personally I think thats a good description of the three attributes but there is a slight difference between his definition of jumping and FMs. In FM jumping is how high a player can get his head in the air including his height whereas he describes jumping in a more natural way - How high you can leap. Äktsjon Männ
Exactly. Height in FM is only used in the decision making process determing whether someone will jump or not. It does not help a player win an aerial challenge so it's quite a different logic to the one described in that article.
SCIAG
Translating the article into FM terms- "height" is jumping, "jumping" is the relevant mental attributes (bravery, aggression, anticipation...) and "heading" is, erm, heading.
