arsenalthebest
why in the league(carling)cup semi are away goals counted only afte extra time that give the team playing away second an extra half hour to score an away goal that gives an unfair advantage to the team playing away in the 2nd leg they should count after full time
Jack Rudd
Not that this really belongs in this section (it's a comment about football, not Football Manager), but the counterbalance to the away team's advantage in that scenario is that they have to play an extra half-hour as the away team. Which of these effects is more important is something I do not know.

The Welsh Lad
This away goal rule was brought in to encourage teams to attack instead of parking the bus so to speak. If Man City (H) were playing Man Utd (A) in a semi-final first leg and it finished 1 (H) - 2 (A). In the second leg Man Utd (H) and Man City (A) and Man City score making the score 2 (H) - 2 (A). In the old format Man Utd could just defend and win on away goals at full-time 90mins. The new format, well I say new not sure when it actually changed, would force Man Utd to attack to win the game in 90mins.
Stephanie McMahon's Secret Lover
30 minutes of extra time before away goals has always been the way in the league cup. The idea is that although the away goal can be an advantage for the away side for an extra 30 mins, the fact is that they ARE away and therefore at a disadvantage. Plus the English have always liked to play a lot more football than our European softies
