Kriss
You don't have to d/l it from Steam, read the FAQ's at the top for how to install from disc. http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/279162-Football-Manager-2012-*OFFICIAL*-FAQ?p=7184711&viewfull=1#post7184711
mije1983
You only have to download a tiny percentage from Steam to activate the game. On the disc is the other 2.5GB or whatever it is that means you don't have to download the whole amount.

Keyzer Soze
Stevies, You must be doing something wrong. Follow the instructions on the FAQ. Installing the game from Disc: If you have the disc version of the game, please first follow the steps below to activate the game on Steam: - Open up Steam - Go to +ADD A GAME at the bottom-left of the window - Then select Activate a product on Steam - Enter your Activation Code found on the back of the manual. Now Steam will be trying to download the full game. Please follow the instructions below: 1. Click on 'Games' followed by 'View Games Library'. 2. Right click on the game and click 'Delete local content'. The non-installed information will appear next to the game. 3. Close Steam (File, Exit). * Ensure STEAM is not shown near Notification Area (system clock). If STEAM is shown in the Notification Area right click on the STEAM icon and select exit. 4. Insert Disk 1 into your DVD drive and select Autorun. 5. From the Windows Desktop, click on the Start Button, (XP) click Run (Vista/7) type Run into the Start Search box and choose Run from the list. In the window Run box enter the following: E:\Setup.exe - If your CD/DVD drive is not E: please change it accordingly. 6. Press OK, Steam should now start the installation from the disk. 7. At the end of the installation process, Steam will connect on Internet to download a small update.
stevies qpr
initially it said the "small" update was 5 hours 12 mins, however, i shut steam down and restarted it now its 14 mins........ puzzled????
Matt ex SEGA
Sometimes restarting connects you to a different server that's under a bit less strain - I guess that's what's happened here...

mathiasjunior
There is 1.5gb of data on that disc. Activated online through steam, then it tries to download 2.4gb of data??? What was the point of buying the disc? I'm a 3g dongle i cant download that sort of data. Tried the FAQ instructions, still tries to do a big download and the dvd doesnt seem to do anything. What's happening??
