New to game

I have a few questions and etc if you all can please help that will be appreciated. I am not a huge Football fan i do watch the world cup from time to time. With that siad i downloaded the demo and have been playing it for the last 14 friggin hours lol.

my Questions start at what do you all suggest me to start with like what type of team and etc i love watching brazil but i dont think that will be fair because there a super team i want to basically take a premier devion team and turn them into a champ. Now i know you have to build for the future and etc just like in the NFL i played NFL Head Coach for hours at a time my fav part was building the team from the draft and free agency. Ok now again i am useing the demo for now untill i fully feel comfertable with the game and menus and etc i see alot of people mentioning free players during scouting reports half of the free players they list dont show up .

any help would be appreciated or guidence im really new to the series just not really new to thease type of games

Start in england.. I think you might be a fellow american. Aviod the MLS at first its very different than every other league in the game and is not the best way to learn.

I'm an American who has been playing FM for about 2 months now and I'm loving it. Start with a League 1 or League Championship team in England and try to get them promoted. The side I'm playing right now is Southhampton in League 1.

As for why you're not seeing free players others mention, it depends on a few factors. One of which is your knowledge of the region you're playing in and your nationality. If you take an English team but set your nationality to American, you're not going to have much knowledge of players in England. Therefore you have to build a team of scouts that does know the region and you'll start finding those players as the scouts explore the region.

Reading these threads gave me a good basis and understanding of soccer (I'd never watched a match till 2 months ago) and I'm enjoying playing my Southhampton team.

I agree with Americanego in that you should start in England. My advice would be to actually start with one of the bigger teams, I.E Man u, Chelsea or Arsenal, as this will allow you time to be able to get to grips with the game and how it works without putting to much pressure on you.

If you would rather not use the big teams then maybe using the likes of everton/Tottenham/Aston Villa ect would be best for you.

I usually like to start any new FM this way as i can figure out what tactics work well and how the game works at a basic level before i immerse myself in it.

With regards to the free transfers that people keep mentioning i think some of them will only show up on the full game. The demo is basically just a very small pool of players in it.

The plus side of being a bigger club is that it's still a challenge. Yes, you will always finish at the top, but it can be quite difficult to win the league against other clubs like man utd, liverpool, chelsea, arsenal (whichever you don't choose) and also win the champions league against the best in europe.

So you can dominate but still have quite a challenge, without getting the frustrations of getting kicked in the face should you choose someone like portsmouth.

once you get to grips with how it goes for a few seasons, then take on a bigger challenge like bringing up a small club to premiership glory.

I currently have Blue Square South side St. Albans in the Championship. Quite fun, but also takes a lot of time.

Thanks all i tryed a bit tonight in england but switched the Brazil i ended up takeing Cruzeiro as the team i picked decent talent to start and already found 3 5 star players for a 4-2-2-2 thanks for all the info and help its appreciated. Also i am from the USA and i dont like MLS i like the world cup i root for ireland and brazil lol.

I'd always say Man Cuty is a great game to get into the swing of things. They have loads of money so it allows you a lot of experience in managing whilst not being held back by cash flow.
