Steve Cox
Sorry your mail isn't really giving us any details here. Does the disc show up in "My Computer" at all? What happens if you go into the disc and click "auto run" or "setup"? Can you give me a few more details about your machine? Your dxdiag may help us. To get this. 1. Click Start 2. Click "run" or click in the search box 3. Type "dxdiag" in the text box 4. Once the program has started and finished scanning click "save all information" 5. Save the text file somewhere you'll remember and copy/paste it here and I'll take a look at it.

My Dxdiag is in dutch though I'll try to translate it: CPU-Sytem: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1m build 2600) System-model: HP d530 CMT(DC577AV) BIOS: 786b@ v1.11 Processor: Intel® Pentium ® 4 CPU 2.80GHz Memory: 502MB RAM DirectX-Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) and to answer the first question: the disc doesnt show up at all. Oh, yeah it says MAC on the cover can I play such games on a Windows XP CPU? EDIT: the cover looks like this:

One thing I would ask is, do you have a CD-ROM drive or a DVD-ROM drive (or CD-RW/DVD-RW) drive in your computer? As it's a little older it may only have a CD Drive. Also there are a couple of things that may help you out, as your computer appears to be a few years older I want to make sure you've updated drivers for Java and that your Graphics card drivers are up to date. There are details on how to do this in the following thread: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=158970 How to Update your version of Java 1. Uninstall any version of Java you have first. 2. Visit this website: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp 3. Find the correct version for your Operating system and download/install from here. How to Update your Graphics Drivers This depends on your graphics drivers. Some Computer manufacturers insist you download drivers from their own sites. Please refer to the website of your computer manufacturer before reporting issues with graphics drivers. To verify your PCs graphics card chipset: From the Windows desktop: - Click Start - Click Run - Type DXDIAG in the Open field - Click OK This will launch the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Click on the Display and Sound tabs. The upper left box headed ‘Devices’ shows the make and model of card; the right box headed ‘Drivers’ shows the driver version number. Here are the websites of the largest graphics cards and chipset manufacturers: Nvidia (Gforce/Legacy) http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk ATI (Radeon) http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html Intel (Onboard Chipsets) http://downloadcenter.intel.com/ There are other manufacturers of graphics card drivers. If you can not find drivers for these cards they may have been discontinued. Please ask in this case as we may still be able to help.
Priim3ra
Thank you, I'll try that now. and I only have a CD-ROM Drive.
Priim3ra
It's working I think, the steam is installing the game right now, thanks btw.
trekman
I only have a CD-ROM Drive. Thats the problem then. The disc is a DVD and you need a dvd drive to use it. You should try and get a refund for the disc if you you only have a cdrom drive and download and install through steam. Also you wont be able to run that many league with the amount of ram you have so you should consider upgrading this as well.
Administrators Neil Brock Posted December 2, 2009 Administrators Share Posted December 2, 2009 Yeah if you buy the disc and realise you don't have a DVD drive, you can still download and install via Steam and activate via the activation code on the back of the manual. Thanks.
