stabwest
Forging a union. Anglo-Scot : The term Anglo-Scot may also be used to refer to people of dual English and Scottish heritage but in our case it's a game bit of history We started many moons ago simply know as the Scots Sunday in the days of CM, when hosted by JPRemington. The main aim of the game was to start with nothing and move your way up the leagues to greatest prize of all the Champions league. In the early days there was a Fergie clause installed, which was rather simple follow in the footsteps of the great man himself. Start in Scots 3rd take a Scottish team to a European cup final and win it, then move south of the border to take on the best. The Fergie clause was dropped at the end of 06. By 2007 the lads had enough of the Scottish set up and moved south, and the game was re-named the English Sunday. A few still held a strong bond to the Scottish game, so in 2008 we returned to a full Scottish set up along side the English one. And renamed our selves once again as the Anglo-Scots Sunday. Once again taking on the lowest depths of English/Scottish football, no money, no players and very little fans only your managerial ability will save you Let me introduce you to the players : Davie-Host about to start my 5th season in the Sunday game, and 2nd full season as host. Tavv now his 3rd year with the clan, was the only main player that stuck with his club from day one to the end. This Estonian set a new clan record for players signed last season, 376 players signed. Nuke 4th season on board, you just know he'll be up there with the best of them, had a great start last season but faded towards the end Tim joined at the start of last season, took the game by the scruff of the neck and won everything that stood in his way. Also spent a staggering £512m on players and set a new clan record for goals scored with 1932, Will be one of the players to keep a eye out for in 2008 Rob our part-time footballer, but he’s a fulltime manager, also the back-up host. Goldy one of the most well known names in CMO/FMO, ended up last season with the highest rep out of all the managers, another player to watch. Paul New Zealand's finest, is looking to return for his 2nd season. This much traveled Kiwi faces a tough challenge due to time different. Sy is one of the longest serving players in the clan, but this will be his 1st full season in the Sunday game. Andy now in this 2nd season, will be looking to shine this time. Tez one of the last members to late in 2007, will be looking to improve, as we lost count on the times he was sacked. Deano - makes his debut in 2008, welcome aboard mate. After thoughts in 2007 we knocked up 21 seasons went thru 32 players, this time we look to repeat that feat and hopefully use less players, As the key to a successful clan is a good group of lads and a honest and open host, and very very understanding wifes/girlfriends tip: buy them wine and loads of it. So here’s to 2008 Please do not post in our thread asking to join, if we need players we will place an ad in the FMO - Clan Advertiser Thread If you do then you can forget your chance of playing alongside us. phlapster
New Zealand being the backwards little country it is means my copy gets to me on Friday (fingers crossed) so depending on the New Zealand post (yes they ride sheep to deliever the mail) I will be making my debut for 2008 in the second session. Was on mirc for the start and it was good to see the banter (Davie sledging) flowing again.

stabwest
Local Football with Russell Hobbs, Sports Reporter BBC Leicester Dean Thomas has walked out of Hinckley Utd after learning that former Nottm Forest and Rangers legend Davie Orr was in talking about becoming the new clubs manager. speaking with Thomas at his Bedworth home he said " am totally gutted I've spent 10 years with the club and only missed out on going up to the Conference last season by losing in the final of play offs and this is how am treated, cast aside like a piece of crap" We spoke to Kevin Downes and this is what he had to say "yes I've spoken to Davie Orr, but it wasn't about him taking over the club, he had got lost and was looking for Asda, I was giving him directions, explaining keep heading down Leicester road, then at the 1st crossroads turn right up Stoneygate drive, follow on thru turn left and there’s Asda. Not a single word was spoken about Davie becoming our manager. Davie Orr was unavailable for comment. So Hinckley are now without Thomas the man who’s been at helm for the last 10 years, what’s next for the Knitters................ a short while later Its just been confirmed that former Rangers and Nottm Forest striker Davie Orr has been installed as the new boss of Hinckley Utd football club. . . . . 7th July 2007 Davie Orr has been officially named as the new Hinckley Utd manager. Here’s some out-takes from our interview. After the mix up over the job I felt it was only right I tried my hand at management, if you’re going to get the blame for something, F(beep)k you may as well just do it. I've spoken with the board about a setting up a link with a league club in the aspect of loaning in players in order to move the club on, they got back to me with Derby, Leicester and Villa, I kindly told them I ain't working with any of those W(beep)s. Six months ago Hinckley were arguably one of the best three teams in Conf North and that would include Boston United Kettering Town Tamworth and anybody else if you like. With the foreign players it's more difficult. Most of them don't even bother with the golf, they don't want to go racing. They don't even drink, I ask what’s the point, where’s Chris Powlay number. I need to speak with social services I’ve got a few granddads in my squad. Well I need to bring in a few loan players, there’s no cash to spend and they ain't using mine. I hear my old mate Steve G is at Barrow, canny wait to stuff them.

Goldy
Well its been nothing less than controversial at Barrow, just when the club thought it couldn´t get any worse they are hit my the news that they have had an imposter as manager! Board Members were getting suspect when results where starting to wane with heavy defeats such as 11-1 and 8-2, the manager was less and less talkative to both the players and the board and then appeared to just vanish into thin air. At the same time, the real Steve Gold was visiting his Gran in Millom and they had decided to go around the Duddon Sands and make a trip to Barrow, it was there here were the real Gold was spotted! As the Barrow team bus was heading out to make its journey towards Hinckley for the upcoming league game, Joe Fowler the current vice captain spotted what could have only been the one and only Steve Gold, the bus stopped immediately and the players came rushing out and confronted the German. Having informed him of their unfortunate circumstances of late, the needed a manager and this time, the real deal, to help them avoid relegation as after 28 games, the club find themselves in a position for their BSN league status. Having been so overwhelmed by the clubs players, Gold jumped on the team bus with the lads to head towards Hinckley and see if he can make the impossible happen. Upon arrival, Gold saw Davie Orr, who was just amazed to see the real Steve Gold jump off the team bus instead of the imposter that he had planted at Barrow! As the players get ready for the first match, here are some out takes from the pre-match Interview.... "I dont know Barrow nor any of the players but hopefully we will at least have some kind of foundation to build on..." "He´s always been a bit of a cheater, especially during his time at Rangers, im not suprised by Orr´s action..." "He´s got no idea about Foreign players himself, let alone golf or racing, but he does know where all the Pubs are..." "He´s better off managing the old peoples home, he´s got half a squad full of them already.." So an interesting interview in what should hopefully turn out to be an interesting match aswell, Gold heads into the game making his BSN debut and anything can happen debuts! Sy
WERE GOING UP!! Well at the start of the season you would not even have bet your dose of the clap on Newport to go up, for fear of losing it!! But against all odds we struggled, we fought, we played some crap football and we got our asses to play with a few times but we did it as a team! The Blue Square Prem now awaits the lads from Newport and alreay they are considered as the best team in Wales! cos there just that good no matter what all the other teams think!! lol Leigh Hinds - Famous for bottling a team mate during his time in Scotland with Clyde has wisened up and became a great player not the hardest working polayer in the team but can score for fun, possibly a poor mans pippo inzaghi only with less offsides! At the back Jarman and McLean were rock solid (except for when they let in goals!!) and did well to keep us in the games we showed plenty of fight and that will be needed even more this season as Lynn looks to spend big with his huge transfer budget of ZERO, but contracts have been offered out to many a player who fits the bill and is on a free, lots of exciting new players will come in a few lads with bags of potential and a few old heads even some International stars have been approached and are interested in talking to Newport about playing for them. In the end it will come down to if we can stay in the BSP but I have confidence in my team and i think we could make in to mid table with some hard work and build on getting to the next Division but im not sure which on that is LOL!! MON THE EXILES!!!!

phlapster
Formed in 1873 by the vicar of the Holy Trinity Church, Gainsborough Trinity play their football at the 4,304 capacity Northolme ground. Gainsborough are the one of the few English clubs that can boast to have never experienced relegation. In what many journalists described as a moment of divine inspiration incumbent manager Paul Mitchell was sacked to make way for Paul "the Holy One" Phillips. Little known manager Phillips a native New Zealander took the reigns of Gainsboroughs holy football crusade sitting 16th in the table quarter of the way through the season. A paltry transfer budget of 0 pounds meant manager Phillips imediately went looking for free transfer bargins. With both first choice strikers also on the injury table bolstering the strike force was a must. First in the door was Jones Awuah a young striker with great pace. Depth in defence was also needed and useful utility Tom Cumberworth who is able to play all over the center and right hand side of defence and midfield was a welcome additon to the Gainsborough squad. With these two new additions manager Phillips set about moulding his team to play the tactics he desired. While not setting the league alight Gainsborough steadily improved throughout the season with one of their best results against the fake Barrow manager, trouncing the look alike 11-1 at the Northolme ground in front of the adoring fans. New signing Jones Awuah was starting to show his class as well starting to score freely. Allthough Gainsborough surged up the table late in the season they had left there run too late and finished a very respectable 7th in the league well above the board and fans expectations but short of a play off place. With a solid season behind him the Holy One will be looking to bolster his squad ready to push for a promotion place and will be hoping the board will match his aspirations with a transfer kitty to bring the best to the Trinity. Stand out preformers in the season were Jones Awuah who proved he will be a force to be reckoned with next season with 18 league goals in 23 apearences. Another to watch is attacking midfielder Lewis McMahon who scored a staggering 15 goals from his central midfield positon. Manager Phillips allthough dispointed with missing out on the play offs believes that with the addition of a few key players for the start of next season will put Gainsborough in a good position to challenge for promotion. Goldy
Hot Like A Furness Well last season, Barrow didnt get off to the best of starts but once they found their shape the team managed to end of the season in style which included a 6-0 win over promotion contenders Tamworth. Barrow also managed to get in a much better league position with their good end of season run taking them upto 13th place. The New Season Well its Steve Gold´s first full season and hopefully we can continue it like the last one was finished. A few movers in and out of the revolving door at Barrow certainly took place over the summer, mainly thanks to our generous parent club Crewe. Transfers Despite having no transfer budget, we tried our best to find the bargains who were still left on the market. <pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre"> | Person | From | Fee | | ---------------------------------------------------| | fon Williams, Owain| Free Transfer | Free | - Released from Crewe Reserves | ---------------------------------------------------| | Daniel, Colin | Crewe | Loan | | ---------------------------------------------------| | Swailes, Danny | Free Transfer | Free | - A top class defender for this level | ---------------------------------------------------| | Blackwood, Michael | Free Transfer | Free | - Pacey and can play anywhere down the left | ---------------------------------------------------| | Rae, Alex | Free Transfer | Free | - Our new Assistant Manager! | ---------------------------------------------------| | Webb, Tom | Free Transfer | Free | - Highly talented striker, only 17! | ---------------------------------------------------| | Moore, Byron | Crewe | Loan | | ---------------------------------------------------| | Marshall, Ben | Crewe | Loan | | ---------------------------------------------------| | Collins, Sam | Free Transfer | Free | - Another defender to add competition | ---------------------------------------------------| | Salmon, Mark | Free Transfer | Free | - Rejects AFC Telford for us, good lad! | ---------------------------------------------------| | Smart, Bally | Free Transfer | Free | - Pacey mid to add some depth | ---------------------------------------------------| | Waterhouse, Joey | Free Transfer | Free | - Scouts rate him highly, injured atm! | ---------------------------------------------------| | Gold, Steve | Albion Rovers | £0 | - I just had to! The Season Whats been really impressive so far with Barrow is that we are not relying on an individual to score all our goals, although it does help having a super striker bagging in 40 goals a season at this level it doesnt always guarantee you success for promotion so I am happy that so far we are having a pretty much team effort with even our defenders grabbing some of the goals. Our season started off very brightly before a small dip of about three games before we then recovered back onto the road of success and climbed back up the table. We travelled to Southport for our opening game and that itself is a massive game for both clubs, but we went home the much happier side with a 4-1 victory in our hands. It was followed by a 3-0 win over Tamworth at home in Barrow this time around, although we had double the scoreline last time I was happy with the win and keeping a clean sheet, we then visited Davie´s Hinckley and although some would say we could have won the game, I was just pleased that we didnt let in another 5 like last time, it ended 1-1. Two home games followed against Stalybridge and Alfreton, both teams have not enjoyed the best of starts with Stalybridge having not even scored a goal yet this season! Im afraid we added to their misery and showed a repeat performance against Alfreton by thrashing both teams 5-0, something for the fans to admire this season! Then came our blip! We faces Burscough away and despite being more than even in every dept over the 90 minutes, they took their chances better than us and somehow won 3-0, I feel we should have got a draw, this defeat effected us in our next game as faced Histon and managed to draw just 2-2. If things couldnt get worse, we then faced promotion battlers Boston and in another game I felt we should have easily won, we went back home with a 1-0 defeat. But somehow the lads had to be picked up again and we faced Worksop next, they had got themselves into a play off place and im delighted be beat them, even if it was only 1-0, we then travelled to Hucknall to not just grab 3 points but also scored 3 goals, which is another good result. Next up Nuneaton, a club who seem to manage to get all the highly calibre loans but still do poorly, they gave us a good showing though but just not good enough as we win 2-1. FA Cup We enter the cup at the 2nd Qualifying round and would face Heybridge away, a game I felt we just had to win and the lads delivered in style for this one! A massive win, 7-1 winners and a great party on the bus for the journey home. Back to the League! Well with such a great cup game we travelled to Redditch and showed them that it wasnt a freak result and smashed them for 5! A very happy result. Setanta Shield Some lucky sods somehow got out of having to play in the first round! But we didnt unfortunately but that doesnt matter, we faced Alfreton again and once again beat them, only 3-0 but it should have been a far great margin. FA Cup Next up in the qualifiers was Chatham, this time everyone expected another big win but I was happy just to advance if truth be told, its only going to get harder every round, but we got a very convincing 3-0 win to take us through. Back to the League! An entertaining game against Farsley next for us which ended up 4-3 and it suprised me more than anyone that Farsley scored three, but every chance they had they converted, I was just glad that Tommy Webb grabbed all 4 goals for himself to earn us the three points. Next up we faced Cambridge City, they were the early pace setters but seem to falling down the league now and we added to their misery by winning 3-1 and taking us into 2nd place in the league having gone down to 11th at one point! Summary Well I cant complain, we had our blip and moved down the table quite considerably, even out of the top ten, but since our defeat we managed to go on a bit of run and thankfully so aswell as we need to keep on Hinckleys toes and hope they slip up. Its nice to secure a play off place but it would be so much better to go up autoamtically, however, we are predicted for a mid table finish and anything can yet happen, its a long way to go and hopefully we can maintain our form. knotty_100005
Telford Appoint Knott Rookie Manager Robert Knott was appointed AFC Telford manager at the start of 07/08 season and what a success it turned out to be. With promotion In His first season more is expected from Knotts side. Knott Commented.... Im happy to be here , i have built a a great feeling with the fans, players and chairman. Its true some players are here because they are doing a job for the club but soon things will change and i will have a team in place that i want. The stadium is Fantastic for this level of football and this is what has given us such a healhty Bank account and it also attract players because of the good playing surface. also having 2,000 fans behind you week in week out at this level is a massive boost. Speaking about players Knott said. I had a very good tip off from a close footballing friend about two strikers available on free transfers. I acted quick got them in and what a marvelous bit of buisness with them both hitting 16+ goals in there first season. I am lookin to bring in new players this season and i have the budget to do so. Speaking after signing Big Striker Bas Savage .... A marvelous signing what a player for confrence level , i just cant wait to see him start Moon Walking!
