2012, i took over as Everton manager half way through the season.

Man Utd - Champions League winners and FA Cup winners.

Man City - UEFA Cup winners.

Middlesborough - Carling Cup winners.

Liverpool - losing FA Cup finalists.

9 clubs qualified for Europe! Anyone better that? :D

EDIT: could have been 10 clubs, but the UEFA sporting draw went to Italy and Russia instead :(

In the Swiss Super League, with me managing Vaduz, 7 out of 10 sides qualified for Europe quite often because I managed to finish in the top 5 several years. E.g., most recently:

Vaduz top, and UEFA Cup (automatic each year due to being considered Liechtensteiner, not Swiss)

Zurich 2nd and ECC

Young Boys 3rd and ECC

Basel 4th and UEFA Cup

Aarau 5th and UEFA Cup

Grasshopper 6th and UEFA Cup through Swiss Cup

Luzern 7th and Intertoto

Don't have a SS though, started the next season.

Of course, that many from England is nothing special. They regularly get 8 each year and you had defending UEFA Cup champions as well.

Isn't that irrelevant? They got in on league position- and if they hadn't, they'd only get the UEFA Cup, not the Champions League!

Even then they wouldnt as the place reverts back to the league if the winners qualify through the league, they changed it after Milwall.

Well in my SPL Rangers, Celtic and Inverness qualified for the champ league.

Hibs, Dundee Utd, Hearts, Aberdeen and Motherwell qualified for the EURO Cup.

So thats 8 teams in europe with a total of 12 teams in the league!! Not bad!
