Rank has almost forgotten how to speak English, let alone Spanish as the words run through his head, almost meaningless. He registers "Have you decided? Are you coming or not?", to which he quickly replies "Sí, te veo mañana." - "yes, I'll see you tomorrow". He then begins to pack his Warsaw apartment for the big move. Vision Here's where we currently sit in the table And the Squad Key Players Sergio Carreira - he's been with the club since 2015, making his first team debut in 2020-2021. He is young enough that I can still train him up on the attacking side and he should be my prototypical right wing back. Diego Pampin - He's been with the club since 2014-2015, debuting in 2019-2020. Again, great on the ball and steady defensively - he will make a great left wing back. Fran Beltran - He'll be the cog in the center of the pitch, opening up our attack and kick-starting it. Romario Wanderson - on loan from Arsenal. He will play in the central, advanced midfield playing off of my Advanced Forward and providing for my wing backs cutting inside. ranks39 Posted April 26, 2020 Author Share Posted April 26, 2020 Spanish Cup First Round I've taken charge of my first match, and it's a great way to start against U.S.D. Grove, in the regional divisions. We have been able to test out the new formation and get a few players some minutes and confidence. Fran Lopez gave us a return of 6 goals, with 5 other players scoring. A great building block as we look to turn the season around. My new project is turning this young man into an inverted left wing back.... I think that he can be great once he improves his defensive abilities. Gerard Deulofeu moved on a free to South Korea. INCOMINGS We grabbed a young Englishman, Francesco Todesco, on a free. Sarabia comes to us on a free from Villareal. A great player that will fit straight into our side. Ivan Korz comes to us from Portuguese side, Familicao, for $5M. We drained our transfer budget by paying $11M for Olaizola from Real Madrid's B team. He will step right into the role, hopefully long-term. We renewed our loan for Wanderson. We got nearly $3M in the deal. Incomings We've brought in a backup keeper for $375K. We've loaned three players in. Albert Garcia, from Barcelona B, fills an immediate need for competition at striker. He will begin the season as our first-choice option. Jamie Hawkins comes in from Chelsea and looks a real prize. He's got great first touch, composure, flair, passing and decisions to go along with decent work rate. Junior Tongo Vulla comes in from Everton and will provide depth at my center back position. All three of my first-choice center backs are wanted by bigger clubs so this fills a great need. Finally, Dario Zenga comes in as a development project. He is nearly there but needs definite work in the air and with marking and strength. He has all the makings of a great center back. Bought for $12.75M. We dominated Alaves and got the three points and dominated against Girona but our finishing let us down. We also finished up the window bringing in two more players. Bradley Simms will bring some much-needed depth to a very inefficient striker pool. On loan from Manchester United. Secondly, we bought Aboubacar Toure, a Spanish youth international center back from Barcelona B, for $11.5M. Life with Bradley Simms has begun oh, so well! He has seized the starting striker role. We actually looked the better side in most of the matches this month, too! Overall, a pretty quiet month. Bradley Simms has continued his hot-scoring ways, as well. We finally broke our streak, although we did play some top-quality sides throughout that winless streak. Simms has played as well as anybody in the league. We've also brought in a familiar face for the future from Legia! Bosman Signings First signing is all-around attacker Jiri Vencl from Sparta Prague. I am going to experiment with this one and retrain him as a wing back - I believe that he can be as devastating as Mukashev was for my Legia teams. He has great pace and fitness, great dribbling, decent finishing and long shots and can pass. His defense is below-average but I believe that he can improve greatly there. Martin Bayiha - Future Midfield Depth Lionel Manga - a future Central Defender, ball playing variety. Copa And just like that, it ends. Copa - Third Round We went up 4-0 and almost blew it. Luis Angel Cainzos looks a real gem! He will be a central midfielder and he looks almost ready to step into the first team. I'm hoping to loan him out in La Liga next season and go from there. Aldan Callon is also a great prospect at goalkeeper. Jose Ignacio looks like he can develop into a serviceable wing back for me, as well. All the defensive qualities are there and the mental attributes are already world-class in Aggression, Bravery, Determination, Teamwork, and Work Rate. We've finished fifth, which is an outstanding position for us and qualified for Europa League Group Stage! We were definitely the better side against Girona and Levante and we were definitely up for Barca, but we were wasteful. I also handed out three debuts to three of our best, newest youth players to get a high level of experience. Plus, we were short on central defenders to injury. Coach of the Year Team Awards/Stats Here's how we generally lined up. Aboubacar Toure enjoyed a fine first season, anchoring our backline. Urko Alonso was also fantastic in the center of our defense. Brais Mendez was our best chance creator from the Advanced Playmaker role in the Central Attacking Midfield position. Finally, the man of the year, Simms. He was unquestionably our best player. He will head back to Manchester United(I've already been informed that they want to give him a chance in their first team so he will not be loaned out again). ranks39 Posted May 4, 2020 Author Share Posted May 4, 2020 Academy Spotlight I'm going to be starting a new feature just highlighting some of the up-and-coming academy players. They may not necessarily be the most talented or have the best potential but just some that I feel are interesting. I'll likely do it in the offseason and maybe during the winter break. So, without further ado, here we go! Esteban Ekuaga has been one of my favorite players to follow along with. He came to us in my first youth intake(2027) and at just 18 years of age, has been capped 7 times for the Equatorial Guinea full senior team. He was born in Bata, Equatorial Guinea and also has Spanish Citizenship. He was on loan this season at Eldense in the Spanish Segunda Division B3. I believe that he has the makings of a first-teamer in 2-3 season's time. Kjetil Liland was acquired in one of our best pieces of business. Born in Oslo, we brought him in on trial and were able to sign him on a free from his boyhood club, Stabaek. He had played for their second team and is a U21 Norwegian International. He is a project and is training to be my right back of the future. With decent pace and great acceleration, he is good on the ball but is still finding his feet defensively. He is easily 2-3 years away from the first team(probably out on loan playing consistently at the wing back position). Luis Carlos Luna, born in Vigo, is a hometown favorite and a fast-riser in my youth system. Upon my arrival at Celta Vigo, Luna was putting together quite the campaign with my U19 Squad, winning the top U19 division and the U19 Cup, being the best performer on that squad. I rewarded him with a few run-outs on the senior squad near the end of the 2026-2027 season. This season, 2027-2028, he spent on loan at Segunda Division side, Tenerife. He is not a prolific finisher(or prolific in any regard, really), but he can improve. He has been capped at the Spanish U19 level. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
ranks39 Posted May 5, 2020 Author Share Posted May 5, 2020 (edited) New Signings We have completed 5 signings, 3 free(one of those for $89K of compensation) and 2 for a combined $21.2M. Martin Bayiha comes to us by way of PSG on a free transfer. His mental and physical abilities are very good, with almost no weaknesses(aside from flair, leadership and jumping reach). He has played in 25 matches for PSG but has spent the majority of his time on their B Squad. Either way, a steal for us and he will be immediately used in the first team as a central midfielder. Upon signing with us, he is worth $55M! Anthony Roux comes to us from Strasbourg where he mainly played on the youth teams before combining for over 100 appearances between the second-team and the senior team. His star rating looks a bit dubious but I love his attributes and believe that he can outperform those in the center of our midfield. We payed $3.2M for him. Lionel Manga, our third Frenchman, comes in on a free transfer to add depth to our central defense(he may be retrained elsewhere). His Heading and Jumping Reach are terrible, as is his Work Rate. He will be a bit of a project but again, I believe he can outperform his star rating. Either way, if he doesn't break through, we can probably get a couple million for him. Now we get to the two bigger-impact signings. Ibrahim Kol, a Turkish national-teamer,was purchased for $18M(I'm confident that we can sell him for much more, if it comes to it). He is an absolute monster in the air and physically, as well. He should just be a brute of a pure defensive center back. He was a key cog for Sporting Lisbon for the last two seasons. Finally, the absolute steal for me - Jiri Vencl. He had been plying his trade for his boyhood club for the past 8 seasons, making 150 appearances with 36 goals for club and 32 appearances with 8 goals for the Czech Republic. As I teased earlier, Vencl will play the Mukashev role with virtual attacking freedom and little defensive responsibility from the left wing back position. This is the type of player that I hunt day and night for. We've also sealed a future transfer(will arrive on 28 July) for a young defender. We also rotated our entire squad for our matches against Sevilla and Sporting Gijon. And we sit fifth without playing our best. We're in a good spot in our group, as well.
