ChrisWilson
The Manager Yuri Boyko born in Ternopil , Ukraine on june 15th 1995 was a part of Ternopils youth team set up from 12 to 18 years old. He was a central defender with good leadership qualities. The season he was invited to the first teams pre season he had a terrible knee injury . Over a year later Yuri recovered but kept having re occurring knee injuries that ended his career eventually. He followed Ternopil closely over the years, going to every game he could catch as well as also becoming a fan of Shaktar Donetsk with all the success they brought to Ukraine recently. Now its been over 5 years since he has stopped playing football all together and in that time Yuri has had a few jobs related to football coaching local youth teams while trying to get a degree in sports science. He has had National C Licence for the last couple of years and when he found out his team Ternopil has been disqualified into amateur leagues due to match fixing he was hear broken like most fans . However Yuri also found out that the Ternopil academy team has not been relegated down from the 4th level of Ukraianian football league. Not the under 21s, not under 19s, but actual academy team. Every youth prospect was poached by bigger clubs or simply did not want to play for Ternopil anymore after the shame that was brought onto the club, Yuri wrote a latter to Ternopils president Sergiy Nadal asking what the plans were for the almost non existent academy . After going back and forth Yuri managed to convince Sergiy to let him be the man to re build the academy as none of more experienced youth coaches wanted to have anything to do with the club. Sergiy gave Yuri one year contract and one year to show there is any potential in keeping the academy alive as the senior team tried to get back into the semi professional leagues . The save I decided to start a new journeyman story with a bit of background now in an attempt to bring back my interest to FM as usually this time of the year I start to lose interest. The starting team is a real challenge as they are not allowed to play anyone over 21 years old. As soon as they turn 21 they are out of the team basically. Also there is danger of senior Ternopil team bouncing back into the 4th tier from amateur leagues which would see the academy team relegated. Time will show how long Yuri manages to stay here, just one season and use the job as an entry into professional football management or the next 10 years trying to be the best academy manager of the country. Leagues loaded These are all the countries Ukraine borders with. Yuri is not ready to go anywhere farther just yet. The team Nothing but greyed out local players which I think i have no choice but to use and give some of them contracts. At the start of the game the scouting search showed only 10 players willing to talk to us. League table One positive is The academy is not going down this year due to Kobras ridiculous point deduction. Next post I will try to have some sort of a team ready for the season and show how the pre season went.
ChrisWilson
Season 1 Ternopil Academy Pre season Getting a squad together was difficult . I already had two of the players I signed turn 22 during pre season, i should have checked their date of birth before signing them. They are out of the team. With free pick ups and signing of some greyed out players here is the team I have to work with this season. Transfers Team A squad of 17 available players. I am hoping during the season a few more grayed out players pop out and I am able to sign them for depth. Right now we are missing a CF, DM, left FB, right FB and CD covers. Tactic Very simple variation of a counter attacking 442 that I have had success with before and it works with the players available to me. Players Click on the name to see their attributes GK Krymnyuk - starting GK, local grayed out player Glodanyuk- back up GK, another local greyed out player RD Len - very solid greyed out player CD Martynenko - Joined from Malynsk, will be a starter Brikner - grayed out player, will start Nazarenko - back up from Karpaty Galych LD Kotelyukh - solid left back from Kobra Ostrog DM Tchuaidze - I am not sure about retraining him just yet, we might switch to a 442 with two central midfielders if he doesnt perform well out of position RW Naumenko -joins from Krystal Chortkiv, will be our starter Vorobey - decent back up also from Krystal Chortkiv B2B Kucher - hes only got a year with us as he turns 22 next summer , a very good attacking minded player for Savchenko good back up LW Karsnomovets - Joins from Kobra Ostrog , will try as a winger but might switch to inverted winger due to him being right footed Veremiyenko - OK back up PF Pipa - will start, a good grayed out player Bulychov - another grayed out player, depth player P Parkhomenko - risk starting him due to his low finishing but i might use his heading ability more then anything else Friendlies Mostly fitness games , some good results but the teams we played were below our league level . League The season will be divided into 3 parts. Part 1 - August Part 2 - September, October, November Part 3 - Winter break (December, January, February ) March, April, May Part 1 coming soon. ChrisWilson
Season 1 Ternopil Academy Part 1 Schedule 2 wins and one loss in the league this month. We got knocked out of the amateur ukrainian cup , which isnt the main cup of the country, only 4th division teams participate in it. League table Early to say anything but im hoping we can stay in the top 6 this season. The ones that got away These two are the great players Yuri wishes he could but they turned 22 during the pre season. The left winger could be very useful. Another reason for Yuri to ask himself how long can he deal with the limitations of managing an academy team. Staff This is all the stuff there is at the club. Just Yuri and his assistant . Im hoping they can build a good working relationship for years to come. The assistant is very similar in his ideas to Yuri. Direct, cautious, defending, pressing type of football. The troublemaker Looks like Yuri has to deal with the first trouble maker if his coaching career. Parkhomenko was fined wages straight away with no warnings. Great idea for a save. I was all set to come on here and tell you that you were making a huge mistake and that you would definitely get relegated with a squad of grey players, and then you told us about Kobra. Very smart. Very smart indeed.

Jimbokav1971
I'm a fan of giving players nicknames, but I haven't seen anyone do it as you have. (Squad number, position and name). It works really well with a new squad where players might be able to play in multiple positions, but where you have a clear idea of a particular position that you want them to play. IRL Kobra got banned from playing, I think the database creator decided to deduct points instead of throwing them out of the league and throwing another team into the league. 2 hours ago, Jimbokav1971 said: I'm a fan of giving players nicknames, but I haven't seen anyone do it as you have. Its a system I have used for the past couple FM games. Especially when doing Journeyman saves with the teams ive never even heard of it helps to organize and learn the squad quickly. I am glad youre following Yuris career so far !

ChrisWilson
Season 1 Ternopil Academy Part 2 September A couple of heavy defeats but we were doing well with the aim of top 6 . It was very clear who the three leaders so far were and I could see them being top 3 performs at the end of the season as well. Parkhomenko is scoring well and Kucher is the main creator in the squad. Parkhonemko acting out again and this time he got fined two weeks wages. Next time he will sit on the bench no matter how important he is to the squad. Octorber October was rough. First two games were against top 3 teams that are clearly fighting for promotion . We gave them a good fight.Third game we should have won. November Another loss and one draw before the winter break. Sitting at 6th position doesnt seem that bad but i wish we could have done better . We could have done better, some games were close but went our opponents way. Not the best way to go into the winter break.
ChrisWilson
Season 1 Ternopil Academy Part 3 Winter break Friendlies got the first 11 back into fitness. March, April, May The rest of the season saw us experience some heavy defeats, especially the last game. I wanted top 6 and we finished 1 point off. Disappointing season to be fair, I felt like we had a good enough team to do better. Top 3 players this season by average rating. Kucher rarely had a bad game but Parkhonemko went through some confidence issues as he was very inconsistent. Probably because i made him stop going to the clubs. I did not rotate much and I think i can get get out even better out of some of the players in the team next year by changing up the tactic a little. Len was good attacking, might ask him to be even more attacking as well as use Krasnomovets more attacking. Main issue is the fact that we are loosing two of our best players for next year, Kucher and Parkhomenko due to them turning 22 this summer. I am glad with the new deal as it means Yuri is on the right track. Surprisingly it is not Kucher who won player of the season. Krasnomovets also did well but i still thought Kucher had more of an impact. I am not sure how Kucher got so many yellow cards but we are really going to miss him next year. In fact these are all the players we are loosing next year. Back up right winger and our only back up central defender as well as our main central midfielder and main goalscorer. I am hoping i can find a way to replace them. Issue Number one issue i experienced is the fact that Yuri does not have the power to extend anyone contracts, he can only sign players that belong to ternopil senior team. So far the main team manager only gave contracts to the players i can not use next year. Number two issue is that in scouting search there are zero players interested in joining us so i am stuck dealing with more greyed out players. The problem is that there is no way this team can even achieve 7th place again. So it is either a relegation fight or Yuri leaves the academy and lets someone more experienced deal with the tough season ahead. Maybe the new manager can attract some players Yuri cant. A tough decision but a decision a head coach has to make. Can he improve the team and the result season after season? If it is a no its time to go. An offer came in quickly, took about 4 days to do one interview and the job offer was on the table for Yuri. Small semi pro team in the same divison. But it lets Yuri build up the players and not be forced into not playing them due to their age. Uzhgorod finished 6th last year above us and has a slightly better squad with a few very good senior players for this level. I think its time Yuri moves onto a senior team. First year in management let Yuri experience some squad management issues, dealing with trouble makers of the squad, having to be a disciplinarian , experiencing some heavy defeats, learning a few things about how his tactic and style of play could be improved. A good experience Yuri can take with him into the future.
