Ive really just loaded up all the home based nations down to there lowest possible in England,Scotland,Ireland,N.Ireland and Wales.Also loading in players from Scandinavia giving me a database count of about 37,000,enough i feel for a decent save. Why Airdrie you ask have a read below.. I like playing in Scotland on FM so hopefully this will be a good save and bring back the glory days to Airdrie!!! steff91 Posted February 11, 2019 Author Share Posted February 11, 2019 LETS GET STARTED The first team squad looks not too bad at a first glance and with the board looking to get a 2nd place finish theres no reason why we shouldnt be challenging championship contenders Raith Rovers for the title.Defence looks a little light and this is something i will be looking to address upon my arrival at the club.Most likely a basic 442 formation will be suited given the players available,or possibly a five man midfield.Up top the forwards look decent with Carrick and Duffy hoping to get a good partnership going.. The team plays at the "Penny cars Stadium" with a capacity of 10,101 a very tidy little ground based in North Lanarkshire..One of my first jobs at the club will be to have a look at the staff available and get my own guys in i feel can help with backroom advice and coaching etc.. Theres a little bit of cash available to use but we must be prudent with it,will also be looking to tap into the loan market from the SPFL clubs. steff91 Posted February 12, 2019 Author Share Posted February 12, 2019 Pre-season Bit of a mixed pre season was with so short amount of time before competitive matches start taking place so we tinkered with formations and brought some trialists in to see what they could do,most notably Chris Eagles who played against Alness United and then moved onto Swindon,not that we had a hope of getting him really!! We had a game against SPFL side Celtic who we have got a affiliaton with and then a dissapointing result against non league Clydebank.Asst manager hasnt done too great with the pre season.Work starts on the main season now.. Latest Transfers On a 6month loan from Rangers looks decent enough to compete for a midfield place Vastly experienced ex hearts and Rangers bring us some steel to the midfield - free transfer Shores up the defence another one with some top flight experience signed for 2k from Stranraer Needed someone in at right back fits the bill nicely - free transfer Signed on a free from Peterhead impressed on the trial period goes in at left wing for us. steff91 Posted February 12, 2019 Author Share Posted February 12, 2019 Tactic The thing ive noticed about lower league is keep it as simple structured as possible,this is the formation we played in the opening two games of the season so we will most probably stick to that as it seemed to serve us well. steff91 Posted February 14, 2019 Author Share Posted February 14, 2019 So we have qualified for the next round of the League Cup with a 2nd place finish in behind Livingston,who defeated us 2-1 in the last match of the group,the goal difference giving us the best 2nd place team in the competition.. steff91 Posted February 15, 2019 Author Share Posted February 15, 2019 The gulf in class showed in the match against Killie showed as they despatched us out of the league cup at the 2nd round with a 4-1 win.We took the lead after just 13seconds through Duffy,Killie read the riot act and scored 3 quick goals in succesion and sealed the match late in the game. steff91 Posted February 15, 2019 Author Share Posted February 15, 2019 August A good start to the league campaign with wins over Forfar and Montrose to set the pace early on in the season,We played a fringe team in the challenge cup which is nothing more than a distraction in all honesty and despite the score we were lucky not to get knocked out by a non league team,fringe players not doing themselves any favours in this one.Out of the league cup by Killie as detailed above,and then quite an incredible game against Stenhousemuir with Daryl Duffy ripping them to shreds with four first half goals!! Suicidal defending lets four goals go by in the process - Crazy stuff.. The final game of August was against title favorites Raith who won 2.1 our centre half getting sent off early doors didn't do us any favours as we had to make a tactical reshuffle,a late goal for us but raith won it near the end again with some comical defending by us.. Duffy,Carrick and new signing gibson have done really well for us this month but we need to sort it at the back.. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
