Derby County 2018/19

Founder members of the Football League, Derby County have a rich history having won the League Title in 1971/72 under Brian Clough and in 1975/76 under Dave MacKay. The Rams also won the F.A. Cup in 1946.

In FM19, Derby County are playing in the Sky Bet Championship, having been relegated from the Premier League in 2007/08. The Rams finished 3rd in the Championship in 2013/14 and lost 1-0 to Q.P.R. in the playoff final, and have been in and around the playoffs every season since, finishing 8th 2014/15, 5th 2015/16, 9th 2016/17 and 6th 2017/18.

The squad you inherit in FM19 (season 2018/19) is a good mix of experience and youth.

Derby County are owned by wealthy local business man Mel Morris, who has invested heavily into the club both on and off the field. The expectations for the 2018/19 season are to: reach the Championship playoffs, reach the F.A. Cup 4th round, and the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup.

Investment in previous seasons means the club has had to tighten the purse strings this season to stay within Financial Fair Play, but the mix of experienced and youth players, plus the exciting loans in of Mason Mount (Chelsea), Harry Wilson (Liverpool) and Fikayo Tomori (Chelsea) means the Rams start the season with a squad capable of meeting the club's expectations.

Derby County start the 2018/19 season with a transfer budget of £3,000,000 and a wage budget of £507,905 per week (with committed spending of £502,269).

The club has around nine senior players out-of-contract at the end of the season which will allow you plenty of scope to mix things up and create a Rams squad in your own image in readiness for the 2019/20 season.

Unfortunately, Derby County start the season with a number of injuries.

There are a good number of leaders and influential players at the club:

A number of players are on half-season loans who may be able to contribute in a Rams shirt in the second half of the season.

And these players are out on loan for the entire season.

If you decide to manage Derby County on FM19 I think you'll have a fun save with a squad capable of challenging for promotion in your first season and with some exciting loanees and youth players you can develop.

Good luck.

@Eug04, this is from the end of the 2018/19 season after Derby County won the Championship. I mainly played Mount as an AP or an AM on the left of a central three in a 4-1-2-3 Gegen Press. He had an injury or two and also needed to be rested a couple of times. As soon as we'd clinched promotion, which happened with eight matches left to play, I extended his loan until the end of the 2019/20 season.

Won the league in the first season. Went up and finished 4th, 4th, 2nd, 1st.

Key points were renewing mount and Wilson loans for a couple seasons. Bought grealish upon promotion. Followed up with Tonali, Arp, Marin and Pedrinho.

Then heavy on regens with decent current ability and world class potential.

How is Mason Mount playing for you?

Played great for me for 3 seasons before Chelsea wanted to play him in the first team.

I played him as a CM in the 4-1-2-3 Gegenpress. Mezzala or AP.
