Cross + sliding shot = 100% goal?

Recommended Posts

Function, I believe, of how the game's mechanics work. I could be wrong, but it appears that the game doesn't go as follows: 1) wing decides to cross; 2) game determines where cross goes; 3) attacker decides to slide to reach ball; 4) game decides whether he makes it or not; 5) game decides if the result of contact (if any) is a shot that goes at the goal; 6) game decides if someone blocks shot before it crosses line.

Rather, it appears to work more like: 1) wing decides to cross; 2) game determines if cross is successful (ball goes in front of goal) or unsuccessful (ball either goes out or goes too deep or hits defender, etc.); 3) game determines if ball gets to attacker (is it intercepted by some other person or not); 4) game determines if attacker's attempt is successful or not; 5) game chooses from available animations to convert die roll result into graphic on screen.

And, of course, if you are not watching whole games, but rather just the highlights, you may be missing the situations where the cross was not met by the striker's attempted slide because he didn't make any contact, and the ball simply went across the face of goal and the game didn't think you'd care to see that. :D
