Brian Shanahan
As my new star striker, for a game I've just started, Vaclav Kadlec was denied by this: I was rightly p:mad::mad:ed off at this call I can tell you. P.S. the reference to the Associated Press guy is due to him being the last word on who scored a goal when it was a bit dubious, now replaced in the PL by the dubious goals panel in an effort to erradicate the own goal. Brian Shanahan
He was on a hat-trick, got a penalty, took it scored, and the goal was given as an og. Maybe it's not as outrageous as I thought. I see now I forgot to mention he got 2 already in the OP. I'm an idiot.

Norville Rodgers
Guessing the penalty hit the post, rebounded off the keeper and nestled in the net. Perhaps.
Brian Shanahan
As far as I could see it went in under his arms, watching on sideline view, fairly fast.
wesleysonck
Sounds bizarre, because iirc it's only an own goal if the initial shot was going off target and the unfortunate fellow who is accredited the own goal deflects it in, so Norville Rodgers idea is the only plausible one. If the OP disclaims this then it sounds like a very strange event!
