  1. Starting this save, but I holidayed to the end of the season before taking over (mainly so I could get rid of most of the leagues to allow my machine to actually run the game 😂) - Newcastle lost in the play off final so I took over the day after that - 105mil transfer budget but going to completely rehab the squad with the aim of winning the champions league with at least 4 Geordies in the team and 8 homegrown players (in an ideal world, 11 geordies but that might be pushing it)
  2. Hi all, Is anyone aware of a database with the Saudi takeover implemented at Newcastle? Struggling to get into a game atm so think that could be fun
  3. Hi guys, If anyone fancies a game, I'd be looking to play a once/twice a week maybe but using the 06/07 database by the fm mad scientist via patron etc. I'm AVID_GOONER on Steam 👍🏻 Steve
  4. I'm not a big contributor on here, but recently started getting an absurd amount of shots and on target with minimal minimal goals. Had 64 shots in one game, over 30 on target and won 3-0. Not arguing the result, just the stats. Had 33 shots with 14 onT in most recent game and drew 0-0... in 2 recent games I had 61 shots, 32 on target and scored 3 as well. The stats are daft, but I assume this is from a recent beta update or something?
  5. Nice, in the Championship as well so total rebuild required. I started that first Newcastle one that was posted but then the tycoon chairman was trying to sell before we'd even got 3 months in :/ Am going to holiday to January with this save and then I might takeover at that stage - will be interested to see how Newcastle are doing in the league by then
  6. That hurts my soul 😂 Gk ➡️CBs➡️FBs➡️DM➡️CM⬅️AML/R➡️ST
  7. What?! 😱 Madness! Sub keeper is in number 1 spot, and subs bench is in positional order every game 😄
  8. Very pleased to have finally finished 🥳 I think I'm going to look at something opposite like the Dafuge challenge for FM20 to have a game building a team
  9. IT'S DONE!!! Celebration music can be found here... Ahem... Anyway, having started this save on the 5th March, 2019, on the final part of my travels, this game began as a way to kill time in airports, and on long flights/bus trips/trains etc. 20 days, 23 hours, and 49 minutes of game play later, and the challenge is complete! (I can finally move onto FM20 now 😂) §§§§§§§§§§§§§§§ It's been 4 seasons since my last update as I won the world cup with England, and then I took over Brazil and over two seasons was searching for a club team to start a project with. I tried Liverpool, but got fired after applying for the job at tycoon driven Reading, who I then left the following season to take over at a no longer tycoon-owned Man City after lifting the Copa America with Brazil. After winning the League with Man City, I was just one trophy away from completion but also 7 hall of fame points behind Thomas Tuchel in the leaderboard, as I managed to lose the Fa Cup Final, Carabao Cup Finals and the Confederations Cup final all in one season.... I took over at the Ivory Coast, and decided to quit club football and focus on completing the challenge because, as mentioned before, I've not started FM20 yet! This was my second attempt at the AFCON, and with a 60mil rated Barcelona striker leading the way, it was a breeze through the final, at which point I came up against Libya who had pegged me back to 1-1, until a 93rd minute winner secured the title, the number one spot on the HOF board, and completion of the Ultimate SI Challenge. Hallelujah! This has been an absolute blast, and I've loved reading the other careers/stories that people have undertaken 🥳🥳🥳 (I've found my facebook post for what I was doing the day I started this challenge....) Favourite Club: Probably Sporting Lisbon or Wolves, I had a young team of players at Lisbon and half of them became some of the best in the world in their position. Wolves was a great journey of realising a clubs potential with a bit of tycoon backing competing against the ludicrous money within the Premier League. Special mention for Jeju - my first time in Korea and it was great fun. Least Favourite Club: Orlando City. I still don't understand the MLS. Favourite National Team: Got to be wining the World Cup with England! Favourite Regen: Mirko Esposito - I signed him as a 20 year old for Sporting, and then paid £105mil for him when I got to Real Madrid. Phenomenal striker. Hardest Competition to Win: The Korean FA Cup took me 4 seasons to win it! 10. It's getting so close now I can almost reach out and touch it.... As an aside, never mind the Confederations Cup, it's the bloody AFCON that's been doing my head in on this. I've only got the Copa America and the AFCON left to get, so I'm looking now for a club team that can be a real project, though I got turned down for the Brazil job which was highly frustrating. After being unemployed for a season and being turned(my reputation has taken a hit and is down to 75%, despite being 2nd on the all time HOF only to Tuchel....), I took up the England job after the Euros, and decided to run with them until the World Cup, and then hope a Brazil or high AFCON potential team became available. I was fortunate in that the Deportivo Toluca job came up after the Mexican Opening Stage, and I got the job of the reigning CONCACAF Champions League holders, and easily retained that title in the second half of the season, ticking that off the list. Then after a season unemployed at club level, I took England to the World Cup deciding that Keegan had the best idea, and I'd use my world class strike force to compensate for my awful defence.... A victorious run to the final saw me knock out Brazil in the second round and after beating Denmark in the final, I finally claimed the Brazil job as my own! Bring on the Copa America in 2048... 2 left to go... 11. Quick update; An almost perfect 2nd year with Monaco, ticking off the French league and winning 6 out of 7 trophies that season, only losing in the French Cup final (which I'd luckily won the year before). I took over Juventus after Zidane retired, and added the Italian league and cup to the trophy challenge, before my second attempt at the AFCON.... which I crashed out of in the 2nd Round. I've resigned from both (Egypt in anger), and now only need the AFCON, Copa America, and the North American Champions League to complete the challenge! 12. Been 2/3 seasons since I updated. After being given 5 games to save my job with Wolves, I had a couple of great years, including adding the CONCACAF Gold Cup with the USA and an FA Cup to the challenge counter. I then went across to Monaco, and in my first season managed to blow the title as it was in my hands with 4 games left, only to end up losing out to PSG by a point. I won the French Cup and Champions League in this season, but am super frustrated at the way the league ended as I'm having to stay another year here instead of moving on to Italy which will be my last league/cup requirement before I then try to secure the last 2 continental competitions and North American continental championship to finish the challenge! 13. Italy: Atalanta seem to be overlooked a lot by players this year. A young, fast, attacking team that qualified for the Champions League for the first time last year and have a wonderful academy. The Chairman even sends locally born children a kit! Germany: RB Leipzig, despite being the most hated team in Germany, have some phenomenal young players, and have never won the Bundesliga so it's a great opportunity to create history. Got a few quid behind them too. England: In the Premier League, I'm looking at Arsenal and Norwich. Arsenal are a shambles atm, but have some promisjng youngsters coming through and have never won the Champions League. Norwich finished 3rd in the first ever season of the PL, are a very well run club wjth a focus on bringjng through young players and being self sustainable, and play in the marvellous yellow and green. Spain: Having lived in this beautiful gem of a city on the Mediterranean coast, Valencia are my go to for La Liga. Despite having won the Copa Del Rey last season, Marcelino was mercilessly fired by the narcissistic Peter Lim. There's not much money, but a couple of good youngsters coming through and when La Mestalla is rocking, there's few better grounds in Europe. France: Rennes, having been recently taken over by the richest man in England, certainly have the financial backing available should the board choose. Some famtastic young prospects along with the challenge of overcoming PSG make this an intriguing proposition
  14. It's been a busy 3 seasons since my last update, as I took over Wolves after Xmas in 14th and guided them to 7th place; the Premiership has in recent years been turned on its head with Leicester taken over by a tycoon and battling for honours each year across the board, and Wolves had recently been taken over by a tycoon too so Is aw this as a great project to get my teeth into, after spending some seasons jumping between jobs. My first full season went magnificently, as my new Brazilian striker tore apart the league in his first full season with 28 goals, and we won the league deservedly! We lost in the Europa League final, and the semi-final of the FA Cup, but I wasn't worried as I planned on defending my crown and adding the FA Cup alongside a Champions League challenge... Unfortunately, things didn't quite go to plan, and I finished the season in 6th (a point off 4th) and having to go to a board meeting to save my job! We just couldn't get nay kind of form going, and Zico, the aforementioned Brazilian striker, only had 11 goals by the end of the season. This signalled a summer of change required, and I'm rebuilding my squad to make an assault across the board on all trophies, and then hopefully the Champions League - I'm really enjoying being at a club longer term again after 7 seasons of a new club each summer. With the USA (waiting for the Gold Cup at the end of this coming season), I lost in the final of the Nations League, and got knocked out of the World Cup in the Qtr Final by England. 23/33, with 10 cups left to go....
  15. Struggling to get a new job because I've resigned from too many jobs 🤦🏻‍♂️
  16. Just to check - is it the AFC Asian Cup or the East Asian Cup I need to win? Just won the first one with South Korea, but not sure if I need to stay on for the East Asian Cup or not?
  17. Managed to get a bit of time to put into this over the last week or two which has been great fun. Since leaving Real Madrid I've gone on a 🏆 haul across the continents; racking up a league and copa libertadores at River Plater (but not the main domestic cup, which stung) - I did win the Club World Cup again, beating the Chelsea team that had beating me in the European Champions League Final the year before, so that was sweet revenge. I then left to join Orlando City, realised I still have absolutely no clue how the transfer system works and left after 34 days, and then at the end of the season picked up the Kaizer Chiefs job, in which I won everything except one cup, which I lost in the final of. Only one league defeat all season - so close to the unbeaten year Come March, I had agreed to take over as Ajax manager at the end of the season, as I still needed one more non-big 5 league cup competition, however I've realised that I will need to go to Mexico anyway to win the North American Continental Cup (can't remember the name right now), and so I might leave early doors. I turned down the Brazil job to take over a surprisingly talented South Korea team, as the continental tournaments box is my big gap atm. I make it currently 21 out of 33, though I don't expect the remaining leagues and domestic cups to present too many problems.... 18. I've not been playing fm for a few months as I've been playing real life FM and getting my coaching badges Just loaded game up for first time in a while and realised I hadn't updated my previous season at Madrid. To keep it very short, I ticked off the Spanish league and cup double, but lost in the Champs League final on penalties to Chelsea and devastatingly lost the AFCON final to Cameroon as Ivory Coast :'( Having resigned from them both, I've left Europe and taken over River Plate with a squad that should be winning the league, and is already in the Copa Libertadores Quarter Finals. 19. I'd recommend Korea. I found some of the smaller countries had really limiting caps on foreigners which just became more hassle than they were worth, but with Korea you do get some good quality coming through the youth teams as well. I'd never played there before and had three really fun seasons!
  20. NIce to see that this thread has exploded back into life! Welcome to the new players, and welcome back to those who are returning. After my most recent update I had just joined Bayern having just won the Euros with France, and just lost out in the Champions League semi final to Liverpool as Sporting. Unfortunately, I knew the inevitable was coming and my Sporting team got absolutely looted (although I did buy two of their midfielders for Bayern as well...) and they ended up selling near £700 million worth of talent that summer :O My first league season with Bayern was frustrating - the team kept drawing daft matches 0-0 in which we'd absolutely dominate, and in Europe we just scraped through the group stage. Although we stumbled into a 3rd place finish in the league that year, I believe I only kept my job due to a quite remarkable Champions League victory! In each knock out stage, I seemed to have the first leg at home, and would absolutely destroy my opponent at home (including a 6-0 win over Man City) before getting battered away from home and sneaking through. Somehow, this continued all the way to the final where I faced off against a Monaco team led by Pep himself. We snuck a hard fought victory, which along with the German Cup provided some recompense for a pretty dismal league campaign; that summer I also won the Confederations Cup as France. For the second season, the aim was clear - the league was everything and... we stumbled into victory thanks to a Dortmund draw in the penultimate game. We crashed out of the German Cup in the Semi Final and got decimated by Barcelona in the Champions League quarter final. Tbh, I couldn't wait to leave! With my resignation tendered to Bayern, I went into the World Cup with a France team containing my former Sporting striker (now of Liverpool), Mirko Esposito. This kid is absolute magic, and is rated 5 stars by the coaches - Mbappe is only rated 4 1/2! We just about triumphed, with the main point of note being a 119th minute World Cup Final win over Germany; I did NOT want penalties against the Germans! With all the dust settled, I departed from France and awaited new positions to arise. I turned down Monaco and Arsenal to take over Real Madrid - and my first point of call was buying my old wonder-kid, a 22 year old Mirko Esposito... I've also taken over the Ivory Coast, with an eye firmly on next summers AFCON! Final Thoughts: > I HATE the new World Cup set up with a passion. It's going to brutal when that takes place in real life > As I write this, a 31 year old Mbappe has 110 goals in 161 appearances for France. 8 of these were against Andorra though, so.... > It's the year 2030, and Real Madrid haven't won the Champions League since 2018.... > I think I will go to S.Africa after this. I prefer having clubs as a longer term project and building them up, but at the same time I love trying to achieve this challenge. > My favourite two clubs so far have been Jeju in Korea and Sporting Lisbon - the team I built there was quite phenomenal, and I regret not making a save of that team for online play! 21. It's been a while since I've been able to get an update, as I've not played for a while, but what a couple of seasons for Sporting Lisbon! I took over with them having just won the Europa League, and I signed a young French striker who would fires Sporting to their first league title for over 40 years. I got through a tough CL group stage but lost on away goals to Man City in the first knock out round, whilst losing disappointingly in both domestic cups. Meanwhile for France, I won the Nations League B group to get promoted to the A groups. The previous battle with Man City was a source of inspiration, as they have dominated England and I took them to the brink with my group of young players, and the following season I led an all out assault on Portuguese football, completing the domestic quadruple whilst also taking a Kylian Mbappe inspired France to European Championship glory defeating holders England in the Semi Final, before dispatching Ukraine comfortably in the final 3-0. Having achieved all I can do at Sporting, and with a squad of players who should be playing at far bigger clubs, I resigned and was quickly snapped up by Bayern, who've been lagging behind Dortmund in recent years in the Bundesliga. Notable occurrences: > Man City won the league despite being docked 5 points for FFP > An English club has been in the Champs League final for 9 of the last 10 years. > Leicester have been taken over by a tycoon and in the 2 seasons since, have spent 300 million on players and won the Europa League. I'm hoping to do a one stop shop with Bayern and tick the league and cup off the list, before moving on to a club that can be more of a two or three year project like Sporting and Jeju have been. 22. @darren1983 - Good work on the Chinese league! Convenient tick box season at least aha. Been struggling to play recently, my 5 year old lil macbook air is struggling now - I'm a few seasons in and it's getting very clunky so it's convinced me I need to upgrade Had a successful season with Sporting and will update after my second season ends...
  23. I still can't work out how to do the code update.... screenshot table will have to do for now. Anyway, lots to update on the way. I finally cracked cup glory with Jeju!!! A successful 3rd title in a row (record setting 97pts), along with the domestic cup and AFC Champions League means I'm now looking to leave this continent for the foreseeable future, and I find myself at Monterrey in Mexico... for a few weeks anyway. I join Monterrey just as the deadline closes, and the squad is patchy at best, though there are a couple of good players, including Alphonso Davies( more on him shortly), but the squad registration rules mean I just can't play my best players as I need 9 homegrown Mexicans in my squad. I don't really 'feel it' with Monterrey, and after being knocked out of the cup, I resign and focus for now on Canada and the upcoming competitions. I surpassed expectations with the Canucks, and got to the Nations League semi final, where I best the USA on every stat except the one that counts - goals. A devastating elimination, but the country loves me. Onto the 2026 World Cup, joint hosted by my Canadian side, I again surpass expectations and charge through to the Third Round (There are FAR too many teams in this world cup...) but I lose to Belgium - again, despite seemingly having the better of them, our profligacy in front of goal costs us dear. I resign from Canada at this point, and with the Dutch and Portuguese leagues now loaded and entering the frey, I wait to see what teams will become available after the inevitable World Cup exodus (Brazil beat NIGERIA in the final!), and eventually accept the Sporting Lisbon and France positions (turning down Spain and Australia) France are in Nations League B, but it was too good a squad to refuse, with a 4 year plan to win the Euros and World Cup with this squad, by which point Mbappe will be 31. Sporting on the other hand, haven't won the league since 02 - 24 years, so this is the type of challenge I'd normally enjoy on a career save and I may end up holding back on other positions until this one is cracked with. I've signed a very exciting young French striker, who at 18 yrs old is leading my charge, and I've been drawn in a Champions League group with Liverpool, RB Salzberg, and Partizan, so there's a chance of qualification for me there. The squad has had a complete overhaul, with nearly 200 mil of outgoing (only keeping 48% for transfers though ) and 102 mil coming in, including the aforementioned Alphonso Davies after his heroic performances for Canada. We lost on penalties in the Portuguese version of the Charity Shield to Porto, and then lost to Man City in the Super Cup aet (Sporting won the Europa League), but got revenge on Porto in the league, winning 3-1 away from home. Enjoying this team so far so looking forward to seeing where they can be taken. Porto have won the last 9 leagues, so that's got to stop!
