  1. Well, my 2 Cent.

When i look at the GK he has weak Agility, low Punching and high Rushing Out - in my experience GKs with a weak agility only fare good if they excell on the Mental and Goalkeeping side and FM23 is especially more cruel to GKs and i have not found a working GK with low Agility at all.

Rushing Out seems to me a Sweeper Keeper thing while Punching...all good GKs i see have high value Punching.

Area of Command seem to be average but a topclass GK would have a better one - in the top leagues all necessary attributes need to be at least 12.

If he is inconsistent, i can see that, you will suffer and suffer and suffer matche were he loses you the game alone...consistency is a must for a GK.

Also he will make more errors the less you allow him to make good decisions by deliberately force him to play the ball to a certain limited choice of players.

Also, the GK is depending on all the payers in front of him, if they abandon him in his efforts to make saves and catches and play out of the def you court disaster.

If all GKs you ever had play below the expectations it seems either the matrix of attributes that drives the choice for having a certain player under contract is missing a key element or the tactic may epxose that certain player or he is as i say again abandoned by the Team.

To me it looks he has some weknesses although the avg rating is not that bad but in the end i myself experienced losses based on the GK that had rather avg ratings but changing the GK turned the tide for me and my team startet to win getting more confidence and moral and win more while the other GK would have rating compared to the old one like 6,9 vs 7,1...which seems not to be a big difference but in term of results it was!

I chose my GKs for having high agility, high reflexes, decisionmaking, aerial ability and albeit i play a SK i usually chose GKs with a high punching over GKs with a low punching and rushing out is a nonsensical attribute at best, low Handling is a thing that gifts Goals away if to low.

Concentration at least for me could stay surprisingly low like 8 and i have not witnessed negative results from it.

Anticipation and Aggression seem to be almost irrelevant and so is speed.

In the end FM23 is more critical than every other FM in regard to player attributes and traits!

  2. One thing that comes to mind in regard to realism is that SI handles club finances way to lenient and not based on reality.

For example is Hertha Berlin in the 1.Bundesliga currently in a deep debt hole and endangered to make it not through the licensing phase for the next season especially if they relegate - then it could be a free fall into a lower league below D3.

Yet in the game Hertha Berlin is depicted as a rich club with not financial troubles...

There are very few clubs in germany that are not debt ridden and i gets worse in regard to liquidity the lower the league you get.

Clubs like Schalke 04 and VFB Stuttghart come to mind they are also depicted way to healthy financially, the HSV in 2.Bundesliga is a financial disaster.

So finances are really not based on reality in this game but on a fantasy scenario.

Can not say anything about the gameplay after the latest update, i wont play until the mods are all up and running.

  3. In the Berlin Area there are "Tennis Borussia Berlin" albeit in D4, occasionally member of 1. and 2. Bundesliga, victim of investors that wanted to make the Club a Championsleague Club hiring Karlsruher SC Legend Coach Wnnie schäfer - going bancrupt financially and failing dramatically on the result side of things.

"Hertha 03 Zehlendorf" in D5 once renowned for its youth development and having Andreas Köpfe former national team Goalkeeper played there - they also had  a time when they did several world journeys playing clubs all over the globe in the season breaks long b4 it became fashionable.

"Blau Weiss 90" - once a newcomer rival of Hertha BSC it was debated in the political realm of Berlin to merge them with Hertha but it never happened.

Karl Heinz Riedle made its 1.Bundesliga Debut at this club b4 having a great career elsewhere.

Also falling to doom by partnering with shady investors that left the club broke and dissolved so they had to start a new with a slightly different version of their old name SPVGG Blau Weiss 1890 E.V.

"Tasmania Berlin" - the least successful club to have ever played 1.Bundesliga (they had to step in when another club got rejected from the league and were ill prepared and fundamentaly unsuited).

"SV Empor" in D6 is according to FM affiliated with Union Berlin who currently upsets the 1.Bundesliga.

"SC Charlottenburg" - had a height in the 2.Bundesliga

"SD Croatia Berlin" - founded by mostly croatian originating members

"TUS Makkabi" - TuS Makkabi Berlin - Wikipedia in the jewish football club in germany tradition.

"Türkiyemspor" seems to have been relegated but they were a club in the turkish football tradition and also involved in financial scandals - i dont know if they are still playable.

Maybe one of them fits your goals.

  4. I let handle all press dialogues via Staff with the exception of my manager inauguration press conference and the usual i am happy to sign a new contract thing.

They are quite repetitive and boring and i am not paid enough to sit there smiling while answering the tenth boring question in a row.

I tend anyway to give my staff quite some tasks - my task is to hire good personel and decide who stays/plays and who goes in a formation that is successfull and strategically fitting.

Training, Press, most interactions are not entertaining but i can scout for hours without end bcs that is a key element (well, i can better scout on a Light Skin than a Dark Skin as the latter exhausts my eyes in no time).

And i need the attributes displayed in the classic way bcs i dont look for individual numbers put for patterns.

  5. I looked recently into it and in germany tier 4 which is "Regionalliga" i have other expenses of ~4,5k per month and last fiscal year it was ~75k.

I dont do any language c(o)urses so i can not have any expense from it (but i know from expensive mistakes these count into "other").

So it seems a small amount of "other" expenses is allways running so maybe a modder like Daveincid (as he mods club finances in his reality mods) has a deeper clue what "other" means...

  6. Well, i understand that the detail and amount of attributes to some players seem overdoing or unrealistic but i am none of them.

In the time and age of science, data and ever increasing metrics to have a player become a glass player (gläserner Spieler - dont know if the term exists in english - maybe "player under the magnifying glass of data") that is completely tested and measured about health and performance to such an extend it was deemed never possible bevor this age of time seem to me more fit into an modern data driven approach.

What is impossible to cathegorize - you can mesure things like athletics, health and fatigue to a degree of fractions of a promille accurate.

Mentals and technique is harder to measure but a 20 point rank system seems to fit that rather rough classiication very well and the worse your scouts are the more it is possible that they missjudge a player and he will have slightly sifferent values.

I really dont see how taking this attributes away makes the game more realistic - it makes the professional clubs and even most of the semi professional clubs look like instinct driven sunday beer league events.

If any one could argue the attributes could have more or less accuracy - but all things physical can be measured to a m/ol and milliseconds these days - and group them or package some together, display them is everyday work.

But to be brutaly honest - a five star rating system like some primitive games have is exactly that - primitive. outdated, and unrealistic in displaying the datadriven approach of todays football that may have worked for 1923 fooball but no more for 2023  not even in tier 5 football as measuring equipment has become that cheap.

To me the talk can not be about taking attributes away but how to get them and in what way to display them if any! :)

Lmao apparently there is only one professional team in the whole europe, so if it happens to Liverpool then whatever is fine. There are plenty of IRL teams with far less amount of injuries in the last 2 years than what i sustained my last season.

As for your questions, 60% on training 40% during games. I check out players before every match and rotate out those with low fitness or high injury risk (apparently it's not enough since they keep getting injured anyway...), training workload is set on normal for every player except for preseason where it's a bit higher on strenght workout.

Dont know what you speak about - over a Season a team in a major national league and european competiton pretty much never has allways the then optimal first eleven at the start, that is simply not realistic.

Ofc they play quite a lot with barely fit players that the medics barely brought back from the samller fatigue and stress injuries but that does not mean they should play or play at thier best level.

FM was as long as i remember completely unrealistic in this!

  8. Do the injuries happen while training or is it in the matches - in the matches is it bcs they were the target of a hard tackling or did they get injured while sprinting etc.

When you get injured players bcs they get tackled hard i find it hard to do anything against that.

When they injure themself and its muscular its often a sign of fatigue.

Injuries in training seem a thing of the type of training and intensity i would guess.

Also plain good/bad luck plays a role.

In terms of realism missing each match a player from the best eleven is relistic - Liverpool had very little key personal injured in the recent years and it was atypical imho and maybe a reason for their struggling this season as it hit then unprepared.

  9. Try to terminate the contract, let him go for free, spam loan/transfer offers and pray while trying to make him sign a cheaper contract...

In the lower league there will be usualy no transfer fee high enough to validate sticking to a player if the player is to expensive or does not deliver.

Since FM13 in germany i got two times something in the 200k range when i was Tier 4 or Tier 3, the transfer fees outside the Top Tier are simply catastrophically bad.

But there are a lot of high-technique wonder goals I'm seeingIn the 8th tier in England one of my strikers, with single-digit first touch, technique and flair took a pass coming in hard at waist height, flicked it with the back of his heel around his back, spun the defender and smashed in a volley with his weaker foot, like some sort of hybrid of the Bergkamp goal against Newcastle and the Henry volley against Man United.  My 10 first touch, 8 technique, 6 flair left back just one-touch controlled a hoofed clearance, flicked it into the air and curled in a perfect cross to the far post with his weak foot.  A couple games before that, I won a 4-3.  The goals included from a first-touch volleyed pass into the channel finished with a first-touch volley into the bottom corner; a chipped volleyed through ball to the striker, who took it down out of the air with his first touch, let the ball bounce, and chipped the keeper on the volley; and a cross finished with a leaping volley.  Like, man, there's a lot of volleyed goals happening right now.

That is not that impossible as players in the lower leagues should face less strong defending players and have more time to act and even i got a 1-touch right at times in my real football games and scored screamers - it was random luck bit it did happen.

Lower league football should first and foremost look slower than top tier football imho and ofc some leagues would be dominated by pyiscal challenges and others be of the more technical ballplay but that is a question you can not solely bind to the tier of football but to the general football culture and style and what opponents you face.

  11. U19 if they have a schedule of matches - the II Teams in germany are implemented as affiliates and be almost useless as almost anything is out of your control and supervision, useless especially when a new team has no schedule.

You can allways try to loan out players to other teams and if it goes well you may even have a financial benefit if they take over some of the wages.

  12. Well, at Hertha Berlin the Coaches were of the kind of rather not letting a leftfoot play than to let him play on the right.

The only exception is the offensive and inverted players - in the defense...never.

I guess you will find both reasons viable - there is a lack of left foot players and there is a hesitation to let left foot players play right side especially in the more defensive positions.

FM23 will always be remembered for the year we got some amazing new worthwhile features, the match engine significantly improved, the graphics got better and the regen pictures didn't look like they had been drawn by an 8 year old..........what an all in all great upgrade from last years version.........said no one ever

I remember that i wrote the new 3d match animations make the game way more fluid, more realistic, more spectacular, more intepretable than ever.

Roles seem at least in part a bigger influence on the tactical formation.

I find the begining of club fan influence promising.

The game seems to react even more sensible than ever, be it familiarity, language barriers, pair-building etc.

These are quite some improvements/enhancements - i dont regret the buy at all!

How do people feel about inverted wingbacks?

They have no room in my tactical formation and i never use them as i use allmost allways the same tactical formation with very few very slight adjusmtents each year and there is only 1 alternative formation i play very rarely and it also has no room for inverted players.

The foundation of my ballplay is passplay anyway so i dont need dribbling and running with the ball players, my team has allways the least dribblings in a league, also i prefer fast tempo play and dribbling/running with ball slows you down.
