  1. I never use inmatch team talks - i very rarely use shouts and that usualy when my team sucks agsint weak oponents or when they are in danger of losing a game we had a 4:0 lead in.

The only thing i do teamtalks is when they pop up b4 urgent matches about winning titles and usualy i simply try to "NOT MAKE IT WORSE" bcs i am already at a form and moral high and i have nothing to win but everything to lose from that teamtalk!

I give anything possible about talks to my assistant coaches...to me i feel it is a boring part of the game anyway i do not want to hassle around with...

So unless i am forced no team talk for me!

This type of "feedback" is always much favourite. Such BS.

There is honest feedback posted and your comment is not frank but arrogant!

Ofc there are Teams in FM that have such a status they wont feel it as they dominate their leagues and outinvest randomness...but that is a fraction of the teams available.

This FM24 has quite an emphasis on comeback situations where teams come up again from 2 or 3 goals behind - the thing is you need to outscore them as you can not outdefend them!

The GKs in the AI-Teams overperform compared to the quality GK the human player needs to get the same result - only in the extremes you see AI-GK values matter...

Sometimes there are matches when the general variables are set such that you know quite soon you wont score a goal today no mater what and you will miss every penaltey and every 1000% chance you get and the only hope is you can keep the oponent from scoring - still you can not play more defensive bcs that increases the pressure on your backline, the time of the ball near you own goal and the possibility to have your midfield or defense make a fatal error gifting the oponent an easy goal.

    Its all legit feedback!

I will say I am loving the insane amount of goals. I play the game for fun not realism and always try to make a tactic that breaks the engine somewhat so seeing 6-3 and 7-1s all over the place makes me happy. Can see how it's a big annoyance for many though.

I'm of the mentality I'd rather lose 5-4 than have a 0-0 bore draw.

In real Football a team like the german Werder Bremen in their heyday would be a prime example of that mentality - why do a 1:0 when you can win 4:2 instead?

But that is from along time ago when the likes of Mezut Özil and Miro Klose played there...

And than there is this misconception that you did something right when you deny your oposition to score a goal...

But that is a misconception - the real goal is to win a game and for that you must score more goals than your oposition and that means you max the amount of goals you score per goal the oponent scores - then you have the maximum scuccess possbile with the players at hand!

That include 1:0 wins but does not shun a 5:3 as a bad game when it is a win with a 2 goal difference which is better than a win with a 1 goal difference!

  4. The AI not making subs i can not confirm as i see them doing subs but then i played only one season in the lower leagues and things may change in different leagues and nations, also my save is a FM23 save i converted right from the FM23 start date into a FM24 save.

I see very high scores though...

And regarding to OP tactics - in real Football every tactic is an OP tactic as the weak tactics will get sorted out and frowned upon - that teams still win and lose is based on the ground that if two OP tactics meet its still down to luck, team cohesion, morale and player abiltiy etc. to succed as it allways is.

The secret about tactics is that in reality a tactic can make you lose but it can not make you win bcs the rule of two equal forces cancelling each other out apply!

IF someone wins a game tactically it was the inability of the opposition to neuter them and that comes down to the coach applying the wrong measures or the players unable to execute it and in the end that is a thing of player and team mentality, fitness, quality and morale - tactic only can organize this but it can not substitute it!

So to win step one tactically is to neuter the other team but neuter them with the minimaly amount of effort needed.

Step two is to have whats left after that to probe and provoke the oposition into risk, confusion and error to let them subsequently suffer for it!

Step three is to allow your players to win the game for you by giving them the needed amount of freedom that your tactic allows after neutering the oposition and define when and where you want to take risks in attack.

How do you do that is up to you yourself!

Tactic is allways executed by players but remember not to execute your players by tactic - that task is up to your opposition!

People who want real challenge had many good advices how to do that. They dont listen because they think that people who would start losing would stop playin/ buyin.

When FM got the Bundesliga rights they had german YT Channel "Rocket Beans" promote this game by having life playthroughs with 2 Guys competing each other respectively aiming for a certain season goal.

One of them is a so called "Tactic Nerd" for real football who has apearings in different football formats that stream their content or air it on YT.

The other one was a gamer (Rocker Beans was by large a channel that streamed life gaming) that should have had quite an experience in gaming and at least one of them was said to have some experience with FM.

    It was an utter disaster!

Both of them showed there were completely unable to comprehend what was going on in the game and instead of learning and getting better the Nerd at least kept face but the gamer was becoming more and more frustrated and did all kind of aimnless things to no success and they ended it after a few matchdays.

They both did a second try one FM later with the 2 top teams BVB and FCB and the gamer with the BVB was still sucking and clueless and the Nerd had Bayern Munich - it ended like the first try...

Since then they have not made any FM content (and the channel has changed from fulltime broadcasting to parttime with reduced crew and formats).

When these so called experienced/expert persons show that much of a struggling to understand the FM game and such a lack of learning the ropes and improving i fear SI has some merit in easing the way in for newer players...

And maybe it would be better if competent FM players are chosen to stream this game to the broad audience.

It is such a shame FM Streamer Showdown is no more and even it was for english peoples/timezones only i thought that format would do FM a favour in promoting the game!

I said in the general feedback thread that I think a reason it works is that players are too passive by default, and unless you give them specific instructions to do things they mostly don't do anything.  Even in systems where you want your players flying into tackles, closing down aggressively etc etc etc, you're likely to see little square passes played across the top of the box while the defenders back off into their six-yard box.  Even with the most high-tempo football available, players will put their foot on the ball and stand there until they're closed down and tackled by a defender crab-walking towards them at speeds normally reserved for grannies at a crosswalk.  God forbid you try playing passively; you might as well not have anyone on the pitch.

Yep, very good point, many things i do tactically is to get more activity and proactivity out of my Team that is otherwise a bag of sloths.

    Probably

Nope - usually heavy injuries come from my players being tackled harshly or freak incidents and light injuries are no more than usual.

But i dont tell my players to get stuck in and karate the oposition down...

PS: Defensively my style could be called "Catepressio"... :D

  8. I eventually stopped playing FM24 for good as i struggled myself through 1 season with my eyes really not coping well with the use of a Dark Skin and i have lost all motivation to proceed further.

There is to much screentime using the UI playing the manager that the visually improved 3D Match does not make for in giving my eyes a needed rest from the dark malaise i am forced to look at so much.

I like the 3D Match way more than in FM23 - the potential in FM24 is big!

Will follow the development to see if the point comes when the hurdles to my motivation are torn down...

For the Moment i will play some Motosportmanager (hey, also a SEGA published game) modded to the current season but to my horror i found out the mod relegates you when placed as worst Team which my custom Team was.

Seems i have to start there at the bottom also but that is even more fun to me.

That thing has not necessarily a Light Skin but it is neither a very Dark Skin but has a still acceptable middleground that is not ideal but endurable a whole while longer than the FM Dark UI.

  9. I never play 4-3-3 although i make a few guesses.

Your much more intense pressing produces openings for the other side

Roll out quick is a source of errors as it gives the ball to players in bad positions/under pressure

Running at the defence and work ball into space seem counterintuitive to me

I never use Ballplaying Defenders in a CD postion but only for Anchorman or Deep Playmaker in the DM position as BPD are more errorprone than CDs imo especially when moving forward instead of backward like the Anchorman or DLP.

Moving a defnder forward will produce openings for the other side while having the Anchorman or DLP on defense will cover openings.

Have you tried a Targetman instead a DLA? I dont see the advatage of a DLA in that formation as to me it looks like your offensive center is not covered well.

Avoid playing thorugh the center to much

Goalkeepers decide wining or losing more than in any FM b4 - if he has bad form you will suffer...

That are a few questions and experiences that come to my mind...

I can not get you a working 4-3-3 as i only use the 4-1-3-2 system that is setup to replicate my interpetation of a 3-5-2 style.

I find Wingers the most ueless player a team can nominate to play while i adore good Wingbacks that cover their sides bottom to top!

  10. You feel it also in the lower leagues in a new start FM23 save.

34 matches: 33 wins  1 draw / 151-39 goals (30 scored from set pieces / GD +112 / 5.59 per match) / 100points (all a new record LOW according to the game as i had no former record to compare)

My first season half GK had 9 clean sheets - the second season half GK had 3 clean sheets (i was in a no contract league).

    Visually quite pleasing matches...

And i miss so much a Light Skin as the Dark Skins tires my eyes with no mercy and i need to switch away every few minutes to look at something else to have my eyes recover an enable me to move on in FM.

I can look at a FM Light Skin for 48 hours with no problem - i can look 48 minutes at a Dark Skin and need hours of rest after that...

Dark Skin exclusitivity will eventually prevent me from buying any further version of FM - that is not a childish tantrum: I mean that in all seriousness!

  11. I started a lower league save and have ~10 loans and it i cancelled any positional obligation out of the loan contracts (as i encountered that problem already in FM23), also if you loan a player for 2 yrs they should be unable to recall him in year one.

I had thus no trouble for having the loans play where they had to but it still comes to situations that loan plays not often enough - but then you have no use for him anyway...

Sometimes the other club will not give in and then it is up to you if you still loan the player (2yrs loan seem to block recalls in year one and some loans only can be ended when the transfer window is active so there is some leeway - also a few managers can be talked to be lenient for a while).

  12. Well, my lower league save for sure sees new record high scoring games:

After 23 matches i have my Team 106 Goals scored and 25 conceded.

The good AI Teams have scored 60 to 70 at most.

The new record match (league) is a 14:2 win for my Team.

I dont remember having scored so much in a regular match ever and maybe once or twice i had friendlies that were above ten goals scored.

  13. The thing is Gegenpress is an active tactic and in my epxerience you have more success with active tactics than with passive ones in FM  and honestly that is not so far of from real football.

Passive Teams lose more often than active Team if the activity is well balanced (not like the former german nationalteam that invited the oponent to make them lose with stubborn predictability).

Also Gegenpress if done right catches the oponent in his most vulnerable phase of play and should rightfuly increase your success.

Exhaustion is only a matter if your opponent is in result less exhausted than you but if done right he will be at least equaly if not more more exhausted and demoralized.

I dont see why Gegenpress should not be a strong tool to use?

Playing a passive tactic means pretty much: Pls dear oponent gift us the points - will you be so nice?

  14. If you have edited you team name in a league file mod it may not be carried over unless you edit FM24 as well (which is possible as it has the equivalent FM23 subfolder for data for that with it and you only need to copy them files to there).

I have not played vanilla FM24 so i can not say if anything is missing - F24 Set Pieces is there and i have increased injuries so it seems to me that in generall it should work well so far.

  15. Haha, that is pretty much the biggest scout task of mine to find my team a good Goalkeeper that can save enough shots to make the difference between winning and losing.

Atm i have one with extremely good Handling, Reflexes, Agility, Decisionmaking and Jumping while he sucks in many other attributes but atm he is the God in the Box exceeding a 7+ rating.

But i have yet not enough matches played to see if it lasts...

  16. I understand the frustration but Tactic is not the most imprtant thing in football - it is one of so many things that you need to get right but Tactic alone it will fail to achieve anything and often you see players and teams hold back by tactics instead of being empowered.

No single thing is the holy grail of football - its the composition of things that make you win!

And sometimes it looks like it is one thing but that is only bcs that was the missing thing when you had anything else right but that piece of the puzzle or that link in the chain prevented you from being successful and when you find it that it may be percived as "omg thats it" but yeah, it was the missing piece of the puzzle, the weak link in the chain that made your team complete and ready for success together with all the many things that were already right!

There is no single "holy grail" in football!

I know that SI used less % of injuries than real life, but this year I'm not sure what's happening because when I have an injured player often the other players for the same position also get injured. So it's not just a frequency issue but perhaps every player on the same position issue. I don't know more details though.

That happens to me for quite a few FM Versions that it sometimes seems inflicted injuries are not playerbound but positionbound...

  18. Hertha Berlin had a certain Footballer fracture his Foot twice in a case of stressfracture and arms are the legs and feet of Gks...

A streefracture is a nasty thing and heals not well, you practically get a better healing by breaking the bone at whole instead of this often partial crack in the bone that is a stress fracture as they tend to become weak spots oposite to a whole fracture that becomes a reinforced part of a bone after healing.

Not saying that this is the case for the arm of your GK but it is a possible explanation you can make...

  19. Loading a FM23 save seem to work.

The generated Faces in FM24 seem to look way better than ever b4.

The 3d matches are fluid and give you better feed back than ever while also being able to entertain with some spectacular action - albeit the scoring is in general quite a tad on the high side it seems.

Set Pieces seem to work so far.

Increased amount of injuries that is more realistic than in FM23.

It comes to the eye that after scoring or conceding a goal there is a strong emphasys in the game to have a quite successful reaction from the responding side frequently.

The player movement on the field is imo improved and leads to quite complex attacking ballplay at times which looks also very satisfying.

Hard to find good Goalkeepers - i reall dont know how the AI makes their ****** GKs work (well that may be more a lower league problem as the quality differences will decrease the higher the league tier you get).

I found for the moment my team in FM24 less exhausted from playing the same football as in FM23 - dont know if that changes later on like if the exhaustion is reduced in matches but players recover less and it is more a long term thing as i have 1 match per week mostly so i may not exprience exhaustion from to many matches in to short time.

Many systems that influence the performance of a team may cloud weaknesses/strengths in the team and player setup but football is simply said quite complex in its simplicity and that is probably an area where new players need more help in understanding how results come to be.

    Crashes so far none!

Missing dearly a Light Skin for FM24 !!!

    (that is not Mustermann)
