  2. More examples: Millwall v Watford 8:25 - After a long ball from Millwall's right-back McNamara goes too far, Watford's left-back Lewis decides to head it across to his centre-back Porteous rather than wait to control it or let it go out of play. 47:00 (first half) - A spell of needlessly messy head tennis in Millwall's area, starting with McNamara heading away a cross from Lewis. 46:30 (second half) - After Millwall goalkeeper Bialkowski saves a shot from Watford right-back Andrews, Millwall midfielder Campbell heads the ball clear. I feel like he could wait a little longer to clear more effectively with his feet. 58:10 - Watford's Koné clears a cross from Esse with a header out wide. His team-mate Ince then makes another headed clearance for no obvious reason. Rotherham v Millwall 26:25 - After a shot from Millwall forward Esse is blocked by two Rotherham defenders, a third defender Morrison decides to head it back to his goalkeeper Johansson rather than pass it back. 94:35 - Rotherham's Tiéhi sends a long ball into the Millwall box but is unlikely to find Lembikisa on the right wing. Millwall left-back Scales still decides to head it forward instead of waiting a bit longer to control and clear. Millwall v Leicester 83:05 - A shot from Leicester's Daka is blocked by Millwall centre-back Harding. The ball bounces up to Millwall right-back McNamara, who heads it back to goalkeeper Sarkic - the ball bouncing dangerously close to Daka. 3. Before our final Championship match of the season against Swansea, I was asked a question that began, "Millwall are just one win away from booking a spot in the playoffs". This isn't quite right. We can potentially qualify for the play-offs by beating Swansea, but this won't guarantee qualification. We also need Stoke to not beat Bristol City, Cardiff to lose to Rotherham, and Birmingham to lose heavily to Norwich. Perhaps a different question or a reworded question should be asked here? Steps to reproduce: Load the save file CFuller_PostPlymouth2.fm and continue until the pre-match press conference. Attend the press conference, and it'll be the first question you get asked. I was then asked a similar question in the pre-match interview, beginning, "Your Millwall side will confirm a spot in the playoffs with a win here." Steps to reproduce: Load the save file CFuller_PreSwansea2.fm and submit the team. After you give your team talk, you will attend a broadcast interview asking that question.
  4. A lot of the tables on EFL Championship > Stats > Player Detailed are seriously screwed up. This mainly affects goalkeeper stats, but some outfield stats are also affected. Example 1: On the Clean Sheets list, there is a blank space where 2nd-placed Illan Meslier should be. He is actually squeezed in between Lee Nicholls and Ben Wilson, who are among several goalkeepers in joint-8th place. Example 2: On the Goals Conceded list, Ilan Meslier is ranked 2nd again but is where 3rd place should be. The top two spaces are both blank. Rúnar Alex Rúnarsson (1st) is between Leopold Wahlstedt (7th) and Matt Ingram (4th). I don't know where the 3rd-placed goalkeeper is. I've uploaded screenshots of the two examples above, plus seven more from the various goalkeeper stats lists. I've also provided a save file from the end of the season.
  5. After Millwall's Championship match against Cardiff, I was asked the question, "Do you have any thoughts on your rivals Charlton earning promotion to the EFL Championship, meaning Millwall will face them next season?" Charlton have indeed been promoted from League One - but my Millwall team can still be promoted to the Premier League if we qualify for and win the Championship play-offs. In this case, the question should end with "meaning Millwall could face them next season".
  6. At around 75:50, Ekwah takes a Sunderland free-kick from out wide. He delivers it to the far post, where Clarke's header is tipped behind by the Millwall goalkeeper Sarkic for a corner. However, the camera remains frozen on Ekwah, meaning I cannot see Clarke's attempt on goal. This has happened with a few wide free-kicks I've seen on FM24 so far. This is on the Director camera. I can see the highlight properly if I switch to TV.
  7. I'm seeing some unusual entries in my Manager Timeline after manually signing players from my youth intake. After one high-potential player signed his contract on Thursday 28 March, the manager timeline entry said, "Millwall completed the free transfer signing of Alex Sheringham." A few more players signed their contracts on Friday 29 March, and the entry updated to say, "Getting 4 high potential players is great, but even better when they're free." It seems that the timeline is treating these players as free transfers, rather than players signed from your youth team. However, this entry ONLY appears if you manually offer contracts to players from your intake. If you ask your Director of Football to sign them automatically, the entry WON'T appear on your timeline. Steps to reproduce: Load the save file provided. Go to your inbox and open the message "Millwall youth candidates evaluated". Manually offer contracts to all the players who have been recommended by the HoYD. Continue for a few days (up to around Friday 29 March) until players start signing their contracts. Go to Home > My History > My Manager Timeline.
  8. An old issue with the in-game broadcast graphics has cropped up again. Ivan Sunjic was sent off for Birmingham in the 5th minute, at which point Birmingham immediately made a substitution. Here's what happened next: The first broadcast graphic to pop-up was the substitution for Birmingham - Juninho Bacuna on, Keshi Anderson off. That was followed by a graphic noting Ivan Sunjic's red card for Birmingham. The red card graphic then disappeared but quickly reappeared - except that it showed Millwall as Sunjic's team instead of Birmingham. I managed to take a screenshot of this last graphic. The Millwall red card graphic obviously shouldn't be appearing at all, but the Birmingham red card graphic should appear before the Birmingham substitution graphic.
  9. I've noticed several instances of players hopelessly chasing after shots that are obviously going out of play (with no hope of keeping them in play) or have already gone out of play. Sometimes, the run doesn't start until the ball has gone over the byline. I've provided some PKMs, with timestamps and players to look out for: Millwall v Norwich 27:35 - Idah (Norwich) Bristol City v Millwall 15:15 - Pring (Bristol City) 45:15 (first half) - Watmore (Millwall) Millwall v Reading 87:25 - Ballard (Reading) QPR v Millwall 35:25 - Chair (QPR) 44:15 - Chair (QPR) Coventry v Millwall 48:40 (first half) - Sheaf (Coventry) Millwall v Sheffield Wednesday 73:20 - Bradshaw (Millwall) Will post more examples when I see them.
  10. More examples: Millwall v Norwich 27:00 - Norwich defender Hanley hits a long ball down the left. Millwall right-back McNamara decides to knock it across to his team-mate Campbell in a dangerous situation, and it is intercepted by Rowe, starting a counter-attack. Bristol City v Millwall 62:20 - A clearance from Bristol City keeper Bajic is headed back into the City area by Millwall left-back Norton-Cuffy. 63:15 - Millwall defender Cooper heads away a corner. As the ball bounces out of the Millwall box, Bristol City's Benarous attempts a couple of headers before his half-volley is blocked. Millwall v Reading 29:30 - Reading defender Yiadom clears a Norton-Cuffy long ball out of the penalty area with a diving header when something less fancy would have made more sense. 42:45 - Millwall midfielder Honeyman hits a long ball towards the centre circle for Esse, who pointlessly heads it on to a Reading defender. 45:10 (second half) - A headed clearance from Reading's Holmes is headed off the touchline by Millwall's Longman to his team-mate Emakhu, who pointlessly heads it into the Reading area. 53:50 - Reading's Mola hits a long ball towards the far side of the Millwall penalty area. It looks like the right-back Norton-Cuffy should cover it, but the Millwall goalkeeper Bialkowski charges out with a headed clearance that is intercepted by Azeez. 62:10 - Millwall and Reading play head tennis. A throw-in from Millwall right-back Leonard is followed by four consecutive headers. Millwall v Middlesbrough 0:10 - Bryan crosses the ball to his Millwall team-mate Bradshaw on the edge of the centre circle. For no reason whatsoever, Bradshaw heads it back about 40 yards to his centre-back Cooper, rather than flick it on to Campbell. 7:45 - Bryan plays the ball down the line for Emakhu. Instead of running onto it, Emakhu plays a wasteful header into the Middlesbrough box, ending a potential attack. 93:50 - Millwall right-back Norton-Cuffy intercepts a Middlesbrough ball but makes a very risky header outside his penalty area to goalkeeper Sarkic. It would be more understandable if Norton-Cuffy just tried to clear the ball into touch. QPR v Millwall 64:35 - Millwall striker Bradshaw flicks the ball towards QPR's penalty area. QPR defender Cannon waits for the ball to bounce and then plays a risky header that is intercepted by Bradshaw. He should have either cleared the ball with his feet or passed back to Begovic. Millwall v Sheffield Wednesday 26:20 - Millwall defender Hutchinson plays the ball far too high to right-winger Esse, who can only head it to a Sheffield Wednesday defender. 11. More examples: Millwall v Norwich 8:05 - Millwall's Emakhu runs through the referee to try to reach a clearance from Norwich's McLean. Millwall v Middlesbrough 47:00 (second half) - After scoring Millwall's second goal, Emakhu runs through Middlesbrough player McNair and Millwall team-mate Bradshaw during his celebration. QPR v Millwall 73:10 - Millwall forward Emakhu walks through QPR defender Cook, just as Cook plays a back-pass. Millwall v Preston 67:55 - Millwall forward Watmore runs through Preston right-back Ramsay twice in a matter of seconds. 80:55 - Millwall goalkeeper Trueman dives through his post and across the byline as a header from Preston striker Keane goes over the bar. Millwall v Sheffield Wednesday 0:00 - Emakhu walks through his Millwall team-mate Mitchell pretty much as soon as the match kicks off. Perhaps a positional error at kick-offs? (I'm using a basic 4-4-2 formation, by the way.) 4:35 - Wednesday's Buckley appears to go through Emakhu as he passes back to Famewo. 93:20 - Millwall defenders Cooper and Scales appear to go through each other as Cooper makes a clearance. 12. A minor bug, but thought I'd report it anyway. During our fortnightly staff meeting, my head of youth development notes that I've been at the club for "a long time" and that the squad are generally behind me. I've been Millwall manager for six months. Six months might be a long time for a Championship manager nowadays , but I feel like this is stretching it a little bit. Steps to reproduce: Load the save file provided. Continue for one day until you get a message in your inbox saying "Fortnightly Staff Meeting". Attend the staff meeting by clicking on "Attend Meeting". Click "Skip to Recruitment", then "Skip to Development". Click "Move on" until you get to the Manager Support message.
  13. Pretty sure I've reported a bug like this on a previous FM, but I'm reporting it again anyway. After Romain Esse scored for Millwall against Norwich in the 17th minute, the commentary said it was "his first senior goal!" It was actually Esse's second senior goal; he previously scored against Barnsley in the EFL Cup earlier in the season. The commentary should state that it was his first league goal.
  14. If you're on any league page and go to Overview > Managers, every manager's Job Security is listed as 'Secure', regardless of their actual job status. For example, on the Premier League's Managers page, Rob Edwards (Luton) and Ralph Hasenhuttl (Sheff Utd) should have their Job Security listed as 'Insecure', Erik Ten Hag (Man Utd) should be 'Very Secure', and Sean Dyche (Everton) should be 'Untouchable'. In addition, any clubs without a full-time manager are missing from this screen. In this case, the caretaker or interim manager should be listed instead. For example, Bristol City are missing from the Championship manager's screen (Alex Ball is the Caretaker Manager) as are QPR (Chris Ramsey is the Interim Manager). Wycombe are missing from the League One manager's screen (Richard Thomas is the Caretaker Manager). And one more suggestion for consistency: I think the 'Duration at Team' should be displayed as X years, X days (as it is on the clubs' manager history pages) rather than X days. For example, Mark Bonner is shown as being Cambridge's manager for 3 years, 310 days on the Cambridge manager history page, but this is shown as 1405 days on the League One managers' page.

  17. Just like on FM22 and FM23, I'm seeing several cases where players are heading the ball in unnecessary situations - particularly when they could chest the ball, let it go out of play, or wait to control it with their feet. I'm also seeing situations where players are being forced into wasteful headers by their team-mates playing needlessly risky high balls. Bradford City v Millwall 37:10 - Nisbet (Millwall) intercepts Lewis' goal kick with a header straight back to the Bradford defence. 43:00 - After a long ball from Millwall midfielder Mitchell, the Bradford defenders Oyegoke and Stubbs play a dangerous one-two of headers across their penalty area. Middlesbrough v Millwall 15:20 - Middlesbrough winger Jones heads the ball into the Millwall area. Hutchinson then heads the ball across to his fellow Millwall defender Bryan, who then pointlessly nods the ball back to Jones, who dribbles past him and scores. Millwall v Bristol City 22:45 - Tanner throws the ball about 20 yards to his Bristol City team-mate Wells, who immediately heads it back to him. Millwall v Stoke 65:55 - After Wesley Moraes clears the ball out of Stoke's area, Millwall forward Emakhu (with nobody else near him) weakly heads it into the path of Stoke wing-back Hoever, setting up the chance for a counter-attack. Millwall v Barnsley 6:00 - After Millwall's goalkeeper Bialkowski punches the ball out of his area, Barnsley's Kane tries to head the ball on to his team-mate Watters from about 30 yards out. Birmingham v Millwall 40:00 - A strike from Burke ricochets off the Millwall bar and then off Stansfield's back. Millwall right-back Norton-Cuffy heads the ball out wide when he could probably clear it with his feet. Leeds v Millwall 0:05 - Saville plays a long aerial ball out right to his Millwall team-mate. It is too high and heading out of play, but Leeds' Struijk heads it out of play anyway, giving the throw to Millwall instead of Leeds. 23:50 - Struijk's header is going wide of the Millwall goal, but Saville decides to head it behind anyway, meaning Leeds get a corner instead of Millwall getting a goal kick. Watford v Milwall 58:55 - Millwall defender Cooper plays a long ball up to Watmore, who cheaply heads it straight back to the Watford defence.
  18. Correction: Robinson's history should say that he was Under-21s Assistant Manager from 1/7/2022 to 25/12/2023.
  19. My Millwall assistant manager Adam Barrett has left the club to become Cheltenham's manager. I have decided to offer the job to Paul Robinson - my Under-21s Assistant Manager (not my first-team Coach by the same name). He accepts the offer, and a couple of UI issues happen: Issue 1: The "Robinson signs new deal" news article states that Robinson is "delighted to have signed a new contract to continue his work as an Assistant Manager", when he has been promoted from Under-21s Assistant Manager to first-team Assistant Manager. Issue 2: Robinson's history has not changed to reflect the fact that he has changed jobs. It should say that he was Under-21s Assistant Manager from 1/7/2022 to 25/12/2022, and Assistant Manager from 25/12/2023 onwards. I have uploaded three save files: CFuller_Robinson1.fm - before Barrett joins Cheltenham, and before I offer Robinson a new contract. CFuller_Robinson2.fm - after Barrett joins Cheltenham, and after I offer Robinson a new contract. Continue for two days, and Robinson will accept the offer. CFuller_Robinson3.fm - after Robinson accepts the contract and becomes my new assistant manager.

ELSEWHERE IN FOOTBALL... Barcelona win their eighth La Liga title in nine years, finishing just two points clear of Valencia. They secure the title with a 1-0 final-day victory over Las Palmas, in which Lionel Messi scores his 31st goal of the season - his 40th in all competitions. England are among the first teams to qualify for Euro 2012. Celtic midfielder John Eustace scores on his debut as the Three Lions triumph 2-1 in Iceland to top their group with six straight victories. Roma left-back Ashley Cole leads by example after taking over as captain, despite an incident at the Bisham Abbey training base, where Cole accidentally shoots the young Sheffield Wednesday keeper Jonathan Berry. Matthias Sammer - the manager of Bundesliga mid-tablers Borussia Mönchengladbach - watches the Aussie TV soap "Neighbours", in which Serbian forward Milan Jovanovic is named "one of the greatest soccer players in the world". Sammer is so inspired that he pays £8.75million for Jovanovic, who netted 21 goals this season... for Unterhaching, in Germany's second division. Manchester United rebuild their squad after another trophyless season, signing Juventus centre-back Martín Demichelis for £12million and Real Madrid midfielder Frank Lampard for £3.8million. United also recruit the newly-capped 23-year-old France forward Gilles Borbiconi, who scored 11 goals in Ligue 1 for Marseille. After scoring 28 goals in 35 Premiership matches for Arsenal, Patrick Kluivert decides that one season in England is enough for him. The 34-year-old striker returns to Holland and becomes player-manager of Eindhoven. No, not PSV - that’s FC Eindhoven, who’ve just been promoted to the Eredivisie. IN OTHER NEWS... Cows across the world rejoice as the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization announces that rinderpest - described as the cattle plague - has been fully eradicated. It is only the second disease (after smallpox) to be wiped out worldwide. Two months after a spectacular final-round collapse at the Masters, Rory McIlroy bounces back to win the first major title of his golf career. The 22-year-old from Northern Ireland wins the US Open by eight strokes - and with a record low score. After their "Party Rock Anthem" becomes a worldwide smash hit, electronic 'music' duo LMFAO release their second studio album and say "Sorry For Party Rocking". Apology rejected, guys. Now go away and never come back! Just one more thing. Did you know that Columbo died? Peter Falk - who played the modest murder detective on screen across five decades - passes away aged 83 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

JUNE 2011 With my first season as Fulham manager now in the books, I had a bit more freedom to rebuild the set-up at Craven Cottage. I began by taking a closer look at my backroom staff. Long-time coaches Dave Bentley and Colin Greenall both departed the Cottage by mutual consent. Technical coach Paul Tisdale - who left Kidderminster shortly after I did - shacked up in west London and was delighted to be working with me once again. Sadly, none of my other lieutenants from either Kidderminster or Dagenham & Redbridge were interested in any reunions, so I had to source another coach from elsewhere. That man was master tactician Gavin Dykes - a 43-year-old Irishman who had been a coach at Sligo Rovers for nine years, having previously captained them to victory in the FAI Cup in 1994. In terms of the playing staff, Fulham's summer exodus began with Idan Tal completing his free transfer to Beitar Jerusalem, back home in his native Israel. Box-to-box midfielder Gary McDonald dropped down to Division 2 with newly-relegated Dagenham & Redbridge, who also bought our reserve winger Michael Christie for £250,000. Veteran defender Kevin Christie (no relation to Michael) and holding midfielder Karl Brookes also departed on free transfers, having seen out their contracts in the reserves. Winger Kenny Hay - who spent half a season on loan with Farnborough - and Scotland Under-21s striker Diego Guerra were two younger players who had not done enough to earn new contracts. Right-back Kevin Dawson returned to Aston Villa at the end of his loan. Though the 29-year-old Yorkshireman had put in some solid performances during his nine-game stay with the Cottagers, a permanent transfer was never on the cards. After two years in west London, Bo Svensson moved to much warmer climes. The 31-year-old Danish centre-back had been too erratic for my liking, so when Salamanca of the Spanish Segunda División offered us £500,000 to sign him, I was happy to take the money. However, there was one defender I was not happy to see go out the Craven Cottage door. As the season reached its end, I was informed that George McCartney's present contract - which he signed back in May 2008 - was no longer protected. This meant that he was free to discuss terms and sign for another club, with the transfer fee being agreed by a tribunal. Naturally, I decided to try and sign my captain and left-back down to a new long-term contract at the Cottage. Negotiations were at an advanced stage when George's agent suddenly delivered a bombshell. Arsenal had renewed their interest in McCartney... and the former Premiership champions had offered him a better deal than we could give him. This was devastating news. Back in December, I had batted away a £5million offer from Manchester City - and then a £2million offer from Arsenal - for McCartney. Now, after nine years of loyal service to Fulham, the Northern Irishman was heading to Highbury without my consent... and the tribunal set the transfer fee at just £1.5million. Of course, I was furious... with myself. My stubbornness and lack of foresight had cost the club its inspirational leader AND a potential financial windfall. It was THE biggest mistake of my 10-year managerial career so far. I certainly didn't want to make any more mistakes on the contract front, so I tied the talented young midfielder Tom Mølby to a new long-term deal. We also finally agreed fresh terms with centre-back Curtis Davies, who backed down on his wage demands and agreed to stay on until 2015. In terms of new signings, I was given £4million by the Fulham board to spend on new players. Naturally, a good chunk of that would go on buying a new left-back. That man was Arnar Guðmundsson - a 22-year-old Iceland international who had been at Hibernian since he was a teenager. Hibs had agreed to send him to us on a season-long loan, but Arnar wanted a permanent transfer after warming the Easter Road bench for years. Eventually, we agreed to pay Hibs £1.5million - and gave Guðmundsson a six-year contract worth £15,000 per week. We also forked out £400,000 for Wolves centre-back Jerel Ifil. As well as being a strong aerial presence, Ifil is an aggressive and intelligent stopper. Though the 29-year-old plays for Saint Lucia internationally, he is originally from west London, so I'm sure many Fulham fans will be pleased to see another local lad in the team. Then, having lost a defender to Arsenal, we decided to bring in a defender from Highbury. Peter Mitchell is a 24-year-old Scot who had just been released by the Gunners after six years on the fringes of the first-team. This is Mitchell's second spell at Fulham, having previously been sent here on loan during the 2008/2009 season. Mitchell might be a natural centre-back, but I plan to retrain him as a right-back. He's quick, he distributes the ball well, and his crossing ability is pretty handy as well. And then there is Florian Schneider. No, he isn't the fella from Kraftwerk. He's a DM, and he's looking good. A tough-tackling but technically-skilled defensive midfielder, Schneider started his career at hometown club Aachen and made nearly 200 appearances between 2003 and 2010. He was also part of the Germany Under-23s team who won gold on home soil at the 2008 Berlin Olympics. After missing the whole of the 2010/2011 season due to injury, the 26-year-old was now ready for a fresh challenge in England. We also welcomed a couple of young prospects to our reserves. Promising 18-year-old midfielder Colm Ryan was promoted from the youth team, while Derek McIntyre - a 16-year-old left-footed forward - arrived on a free transfer. Lastly, congratulations to Paul McVeigh, who was voted the Fulham Fans' Player of the Year after hitting 26 goals in all competitions. It's the fourth year in a row that McVeigh has won the award - an impressive club record that underlines his status as a Fulham favourite. Can the ageing Ulsterman keep up that excellent form for one more season? More importantly, can our younger talents and new signings back him up - and help us launch a serious challenge for promotion?

I thought you'd enjoy Grimsby's success, Dave. Grimsby seem to do very well on most of my CM3-era saves - I even have a CM00/01 save where they won the Champions League. Not sure Roy Evans can take this Mariners team that far, mind! As with my previous reply, we've certainly got a good chance of getting promoted soon. Our defence definitely needs sorting out first, but I'm on it...

Yeah, I think we've got a good chance of getting promoted from the Championship - or Division 1, or the First Division, or whatever we're gonna call this league now. Unfortunately, Edwin van der Sar is long gone (apparently, he retired in 2008 at Wrexham ). I'm not sure I need another goalkeeper anyway when Hudson and Wilkinson have done so well.

  25. Millwall v Swansea 17:20 - Millwall forward Emakhu dribbles into the Swansea penalty area where he is blocked by Swansea midfielder Grimes. The ball suddenly shoots back across the Swansea half as the left-back Tymon tackles Emakhu, after which the ball magically transports back to Tymon's feet.
