  1. Hey guys, I'm trying to set up a draft for my custom database emulating the Australian Football League, and I've tried using 'Generic Amateur Draft' in the Advanced Rules as I know the MLS-specific ones are hardcoded for the US. The draft shows up in the schedule, and it does pull players from the leagues I want it to but on draft day nothing occurs. When I control a team, I get an inbox item telling me the draft is happening but when I click on the start draft button it just takes me to the competition screen, and I cannot progress any further. Just wanted to see if anyone had encountered the issue and found a fix, thinking potentially there's some other transfer settings I need to fiddle around with to make it work properly.
  2. Hi @samba23, absolutely love your work mate, this is a masterpiece and something I want to one day emulate as an Australian with our own football code. I wanted to tinker with the database and remove transfers between NCAA teams as well as make the maximum age 23. Ideally I’d love for some players to potentially leave the NCAA system early if they don’t want to sign a new contract at their current clubs and ‘go pro’ so to speak. You mentioned that previous iterations of the database had transfer embargos, is it as easy as removing the transfer and registration window? Also, if you have any advice on how to make sure no one gets a new contract after they turn 23 it’d be much appreciated also.
  3. Anyone else keen to try this on FM24 now that San Marino Academy are in the Sammarinese Calcio? They've got an U22 squad in that division, and then youth squads in the Italian youth system. Best facilities in the country as well.
  4. @darren1983 just declaring that I'm doing a run using custom league files, I want to have a crack at Egypt. Main file is this one: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3084308978 - Egypt's first and second division I've also added a number of other African nations to make the world a bit more immersive: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3077345245 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3077313412 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3092296017 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3092282055 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3092297358 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3092286784 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3092323883 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3092322716 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3092288911
  5. Considering how dominant the team is at this point, I might do another update in 5 years time after my tenth season.
  6. ADELAIDE UNITED HOMEGROWN CHALLENGE Season 5 | 2027/28 We pulled off our first ever 'perfect season', winning the quadruple - the league, the finals, the cup, and the Asian Champions League for a second year in a row. Once again we humiliated our Saudi opposition, beating Al-Ahli 7-0 on aggregate. Results Transfers We kept the squad pretty well unchanged, although some younger players got promoted into the first team squad. Joshua Mori and Ivica Mlinar once again headed off to China on loan. Squad A lot of new faces this year, like defenders Ryan Lynch and Paul Wooding, and new first team goalkeeper, 18 year old Josh Brown. We also had three players go past 20 goals this year, with first team starters Tom WIlloughby (37) and Musa Toure (35) topping the charts, and backup Jake Porter chipping in with 21. First XI GK - Josh Brown - 28 apps, 13 clean sheets, 7.06 avg - Got given a couple of games to prove himself and ended up outperforming Izzo and sending his experienced teammate to the bench. At 18 he's got plenty of improvement to come but he could be our goalkeeper for a very long time. RB - Giuseppe Bovalina - 30 apps, 3 goals, 13 assists, 7.17 avg - Another great season from Bovalina bombing down the right hand side and swinging in crosees, he picked up 13 assists. CB - Panagiotis Kikianis - 35 apps, 6 goals, 2 assists, 7.12 avg - The commanding centre back has a lot of A-League experience now which makes him the rock at the heart of my defence. Can shift around and do jobs at either full back if needed. CB - Alexandar Popovic - 39 apps, 5 goals, 2 assists, 7.09 avg - He's becoming one of the more experienced players in the squad now, so it's great to see him putting together a top season. Partners really well with Kikianis. LB - Bailey O'Neil - 28 apps, 1 goal, 4 assists, 7.01 avg - The departure of Ryan Kitto opened up the left back spot and Bailey O'Neil started off as the heir apparent but was quickly challenged by young Ryan Lynch, who got plenty of minutes. Neither was amazing, so I'm hoping a clear first choice emerges soon. DM - Jay Barnett - 39 apps, 4 goals, 8 assists, 7.18 avg - Not his most industrious season in terms of G/A contributions, but he had to do it without Alagich for most of the season as the new captain missed nearly 20 games through injury. Barntt is wanted by some Saudi clubs at the moment. DM - Jonny Yull - 26 apps, 5 goals, 10 assists, 7.27 avg - He's been a backup defensive midfielder for his whole time here because I've felt he's a defensive liability but going forward he really is an inventive player. However, I have decided to release him at the end of the season so we can bring in youngster Ivica Mlinar once his Shanghai Port loan ends. RW - Bernardo - 42 apps, 13 goals, 14 assists, 7.33 - Bernardo put up numbers this year, and even kept newly capped Socceroo Luka Jovanovic out of a starting spot at times. Was named in the A-League and Asian Champions League Teams of the Year at right wing. LW - Yaya Dukuly - 35 apps, 6 goals, 14 assists, 7.35 avg - Dukuly can sometimes feel like a transplant since he hasn't been here since the start, but he really made the left wing spot his own this season with a bag of 14 assists. ST - Tom Willoughby - 33 apps, 37 goals, 2 assists, 7.82 avg - This kid is gonna be a Socceroo soon and then a big move to Europe after that. Absolute goal-scoring machine, capped off by a four-goal performance in the first leg of the Asian Champions League final against Al-Ahli that basically killed the tie. Missed a few league games with injuries but finished with 14 in 17 in the A-League nonetheless. ST - Musa Toure - 41 apps, 35 goals, 10 assists, 7.74 avg - Toure had the highest G/A contribution this season with 45, and that included 24 goals and 8 assists in 24 A-League games. Just consistently bullies A-League defenders week after week and has become arguably the best striker of all time in the A-League - 2 Johnny Warren Medals, 3 Young Player of the Year awards, and 4 consecutive Golden Boots. Youth Intake Not the best intake, and I've been trying in vain to get the board to upgrade the youth facilities and junior coaching but they won't budge. Shaun Hayes seems like a decent striker option in the mould of Tom Willoughby who's currently tearing up the league. International We played in the Second Round of the Asian World Cup qualifying and did some nasty things to our minnow opponents. We finished with 47 goals in 6 games (averaging nearly 8 a game). I usually go with the suggested squads and use Quick Pick for the team so I don't pick players myself. It was great to see Luka Jovanovic called up to the team and play 3 games, scoring 3 goals. 7. ADELAIDE UNITED HOMEGROWN CHALLENGE Season 4 | 2026/27 We've become champions of Asia well ahead of schedule, taking down an old Al-Nassr XI 6-1 over two legs, but our focus on the final saw us drop the ball and get knocked out of the A-League semi finals, denying us the chance to win a historic quadruple. We were still dominant in the league and cup and I'm looking forward to what this squad can achieve. Results At certain points in the season we looked absolutely unstoppable and we finished with a whopping 98 goals in 26 league games. The undoubted highlight of the season was a frankly unbelievable 12-0 away win against a hapless Brisbane Roar. Transfers What made our success even more incredible was that we sold three of our best players in the off-season, for a total return of £3.5 million. Although I'd love to have the strongest squad possible at all times, I also acknowledge that Adelaide United is still a stepping stone for players and we can't be competitive with wages compared to Europe and the Middle East. Selling players for profit also allows us to reinvest into our facilities and create a sustainable model for success. Leaving at the end of the last season were Joe Gauci for £800k to Al-Khaleej and Tete Yengi for £1.1m to Al-Fateh with both signing massive contracts and breaking into the Socceroos squad. In August, Awer Mabil also left the club for Qatari side Al-Gharafa. We collected a fee of £1.6m for the 30 year old winger, a year after we signed him for free, which was a fantastic piece of business. I replaced Gauci and Yengi through the internal promotions of regens Jimmy Coleman and Tom Willoughby respectively, but we did spend a little of our bounty on Sochaux winger Yaya Dukuly to replace Awer Mabil. Dukuly left the club in 2022 for Reims but hasn't kickstarted his career in France and returns to Australia at 23, still young enough to make another move. Jai King-Byrne and Joshua Mori were both released by Melbourne City on deadline day and we picked them up purely as squad depth. Later in the season, we let Mori and talented youngster Ivica Mlinar head out on loan to China to get some first team minutes. Squad First XI GK - Paul Izzo - 43 apps, 22 clean sheets, 7.03 avg - Took up the job between the sticks when Gauci left and broke his record for clean sheets with 22. Definitely helped by a more stable back four ahead of him but Izzo did a lot to maintain our level of performance by stepping up to the job. RB - Giuseppe Bovalina - 36 apps, 1 goal, 12 assists, 7.28 avg - The constant battle between Bovalina and Madanha probably helps both players advance and it was Giuseppe who was first choice at right back this year. 12 assists is another great return. CB - Panagiotis Kikianis - 34 apps, 3 goals, 4 assists, 7.05 avg - Cut back by injury a little bit but still a great campaign for the accomplished centre back. Can also fill in at either full back position, might as well make him a defensive midfielder at this point. CB - Alexandar Popovic - 39 apps, 2 goals, 4 assists, 7.02 avg - A real breakout season for Popovic who was on the Socceroos radar due to his strong league form. Has become a definite first team starter which is what I've been wanting out of him for the past three seasons. LB - Ryan Kitto - 36 apps, 5 goals, 6 assists, 7.13 avg - After lifting four consecutive league titles and now the Asian Champions League, Kitto has achieved everything he could at the club and will leave in the off-season, not sure yet if he'll continue his A-League career elsewhere. DM - Jay Barnett - 37 apps, 11 goals, 7 assists, 7.21 avg - Becoming a regular goalscoring threat from midfield, Barnett has scored 26 goals in the past three years after contributing 11 in the most recent campaign. DM - Ethan Alagich - 34 apps, 6 goals, 8 assists, 7.18 avg - Bounced back from injury and had a cracking season. Also got a call-up to the Socceroos side in March for a couple of home friendlies against Oceanic competition (more on that later). RW - Luka Jovanovic - 42 apps, 22 goals, 18 assists, 7.63 avg - Our coaches believe he's the best player at the club and after the season he's had I would have to agree. The fans voted Musa Toure as their player of the year but Jovanovic had 22 goals and 18 assists playing predominantly as a right wing. LW - Harry Crawford - 33 apps, 8 goals, 6 assists, 7.21 avg - Crawford and Yaya Dukuly duked it out for the starting left wing spot and in the end I slightly preferred Crawford although they were both great. Crawford finished with 8 goals and 6 assists, he's a consistent contributor with 10, 14, 14 G/A in his three full seasons. ST - Tom Willoughby - 42 apps, 27 goals, 10 assists, 7.48 avg - Stepped up to the big time when Yengi left and repaid my faith by scoring 27 goals as a seventeen year-old. He's a little rough around the edges in some facets but his ability to find space in the box and then put the chances away is unparalleled in this country. Could be a future star for the Socceroos. ST - Musa Toure - 40 apps, 30 goals, 6 assists, 7.59 avg - Moved back into the target forward role after the departure of Yengi and recorded his third consecutive 30-goal season and A-League Golden Boot trophy. Just clockwork at this point, he can't stay off the scoresheet for long. Youth Intake A fantastic youth intake this season, with some great players that could quickly challenge for first team action - exactly what I wanted after selling 3 of my best players in the off-season. Paul Wooding is a powerful, intelligent centre back who's already good enough for the level, with Tom Johnston providing a taller alternative. Josh Brown is a promising keeper who's filled in a couple of times this season, while Ryan Lynch will be looking for first team opportunities at left back with the impending departure of Ryan Kitto. Fabiano De Vita is a great looking left wing prospect that could be our long term Mabil replacement. International After the retirement of Graham Arnold following the 2026 World Cup, I took the vacant Australia job and began preparing for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup in Oman in January. We put together an amazing tournament, topping our group before destroying Vietnam, South Korea, Uzbekstan and Saudi Arabia on our way to continental glory (and giving us a massive personal edge over Saudi Arabia for both club and country). Former AUFC goalkeeper Joe Gauci has become a regular while academy graduate Riley McGree, now a regular starter for Middlesbrough, scored 5 goals in the space of a week against Vietnam and South Korea. Ethan Alagich made his Socceroos debut as well against Papua New Guinea in a laid-back friendly in March. Our next task will be to qualify for the 2030 World Cup. 8. ADELAIDE UNITED HOMEGROWN CHALLENGE Season 3 | 2025/26 We continued to capitalise on the 'golden generation' at the club with an almost flawless season at domestic level, dropping just 13 points on our way to our third consecutive league/finals double, as well as winning the Australia Cup with a 5-0 final win over arch rivals Melbourne Victory. We made our deepest foray yet into Asia, drawing a much easier group containing teams from Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia and then beating Chinese side Shanghai Port 6-3 in the second round. We beat FC Seoul 5-1 at home in the quarter final first leg which had me wondering if we could get all the way to the final but we tragically lost 4-0 in the away leg to get knocked out at the quarter final stage. Results Transfers Once again the major transfers happened at the end of the previous season! I'm currently in a delicate balancing act between continuing to progress youth players as well as periodically add experience and quality to the side from outside the club. Our marquee signing heading into the season was one of the first successful academy graduates in the club's history, Awer Mabil, who joined on a free transfer from Grasshoppers Zurich and is our highest-paid player and possibly the best in the league. Adding a current Socceroo to the team made us look unbeatable and our results reflected it. We also brought back a couple of old servants of the club in Jordan Elsey, an experienced centre back who had a spell in India with East Bengal, and Paul Izzo, our old first team goalkeeper who will serve as a backup after crossing from Melbourne Victory. No first team players left the club, although Ryan White was dropped back down to the youth squad. Squad We got the chance to see some new youngsters play more this season, including regens Ivica Mlinar, Tom Willoughby and young defenders Bailey O'Neil and Jean Paul Mbembe. First XI GK - Joe Gauci - 46 apps, 21 clean sheets, 7.10 avg - Gauci had his best season yet in the save, playing nearly 50 games in a long campaign and keeping 21 clean sheets. He'll miss the World Cup sadly due to injury and didn't play in the Grand Final, but he's still contracted long term. RB - Panasha Madanha - 27 apps, 4 goals, 14 assists, 7.45 avg - Still struggled with injuries at time but won back his first team spot and was a creative force at right back with a massive 14 assists. Is starting to consider a switch to Zimbabwe to feature at international level. CB - Jordan Elsey - 39 apps, 2 goals, 1 assist, 6.91 avg - Played plenty of minutes in his return to the club and was a solid, stable option. He's a no-frills defender that offers little going forward but should continue to be useful for a couple of seasons. CB - Panagiotis Kikianis - 38 apps, 4 goals, 5 assists, 7.04 avg - Kikianis is an accomplished A-League starter now and can play equally well in the more defensive duty on the right or as a ball-playing defender on the left. One of the first names on the teamsheet. LB - Ryan Kitto - 28 apps, 4 goals, 7 assists, 7.02 avg - He's at the stage where his career is potentially winding down but our stalwart captain still performed well this season. Will begin to mentor Bailey O'Neil more directly as his successor. DM - Jay Barnett - 38 apps, 9 goals, 12 assists, 7.24 avg - Stepped up when Alagich had injury issues and had a wonderful season in midfield with over 20 goal/assist contributions. At 25 he's a bit older than the main crop of players which is quickly seeing him become one of the squad's leaders. DM - Ethan Alagich - 25 apps, 2 goals, 9 assists, 7.07 avg - Had an injury-interrupted season and was slightly down on his dynamic best but still a good season by any metrics. RW - Bernardo - 37 apps, 8 goals, 11 assists, 7.33 avg - The son of AUFC icon Cassio, he's flown under the radar due to the amount of good wingers in our stable but he's developed really well and had a breakout season on the right wing. Still faces stiff competition for his spot from Luka Jovanovic. LW - Awer Mabil - 41 apps, 9 goals, 19 assists, 7.44 avg - Unsurprisingly, Mabil was an absolute star from day one and has clearly shown he's operating at a level above the A-League. Nearly picked up 20 assists and there was a couple of absolute worldies in his 9 goals. ST - Musa Toure - 40 apps, 33 goals, 2 assists, 7.41 avg - Fell off a bit in the back half of the season but still won the league Young Player of the Year and Golden Boot with 24 goals in 25 games. Has also broken the club's goalscoring record with 66 goals in 72 appearances. ST - Tete Yengi - 45 apps, 39 goals, 9 assists, 7.82 avg - Just missed out on the Golden Boot but his combined total of 39 goals is a club record and he's on the plane to North America for the World Cup after being crowned the A-League's best player. Unbelievably prolific season from the towering target forward. Youth Intake Tom Willoughby looks like a great future striker prospect and even made a few senior appearances this year, with 2 goals and 5 assists in 12 games. Dogukan Polat is probably the other player I'm looking forward to developing. 9. ADELAIDE UNITED HOMEGROWN CHALLENGE Season 2 | 2024/25 It was another successful season for Adelaide United in the A-League, winning the league phase with a commanding 58 points and then winning all three of my finals 4-2 to make it back-to-back championships as well. We made our first entry into the Asian Champions League and finished third in a group behind Yokohama Marinos and Ulsan Hyundai, but ahead of North Korean champions Hwaebul. It will probably be a while before we can seriously challenge for continental silverware considering the strength of Japan and South Korea, let alone the oil-rich countries of the West which represent the final hurdle in the competition. Transfers All of my transfer business happened before the season ticked over so it isn't visible, but I made three South Australian signings in June to bolster the squad, with two depth players and one major target. Coming in on free transfers from rival A-League clubs were left winger Carlo Armiento from Brisbane Roar and defender Johnny Koutroumbis from Perth Glory. This pair provides short-term depth but I don't see either of them as long term options. The main guy we went after (and paid a record club fee of £400,000 for) was Ipswich Town target man Tete Yengi, who I felt gave us a much needed focal point in our attack, and could be the final piece for us offensively. Sadly, Nestory Irankunda did leave the club on a fre transfer and eventually signed for Sydney FC in January which infuriates me to no end. We also terminated the contracts of Harry van der Saag and Josh Cavallo which means the squad is 100% South Australian. In January we also let Ryan McGowan head back to Scotland for a nominal fee. Squad We had a very long season with our early Asian Champions League games effectively taking place in our pre-season. We got to use a wide squad with a lot of rotation this season, which was great for player development. Some bolters have emerged from our youth ranks too, quickly establishing themselves as regular A-League contributors despite their age. First XI GK - Joe Gauci - 36 apps, 11 clean sheets, 6.90 avg - Gauci was crowned for a second time the best goalkeeper in the A-League, and more importantly he signed a new 4-year contract after taking some major strides in his development. He's a regular call-up for the Socceroos and could get even better. RB - Giuseppe Bovalina - 32 apps, 1 goal, 13 assists, 7.20 avg - Bovalina took the most of a couple of early opportunities and became a tour-de-force at right back, displacing Panashe Madanha from the first team. He finished with 13 assists, equal best for the club. CB - Panagiotis Kikianis - 39 apps, 2 goals, 3 assists, 6.93 avg - He's developed tremendously and is now the best centre back at the club. Has been scouted for Australia duty, after a great campaign in Asia and domestically. CB - Alexandar Popovic - 22 apps, 6.71 avg - Popovic's numbers weren't great this year but he started to build into the role a lot more in the back end of the season. I think this Kikianis-Popovic pairing will hold the club in good stead for a long time, especially with Gauci behind them long-term. LB - Ryan Kitto - 37 apps, 1 goal, 12 assists, 7.05 avg - I waited a while to commit him to a new contract which he probably didn't deserve considering what he delivered this season. Now one of the senior statesmen of the squad as he passes 30, and is by far the club's leading games record holder. DM - Jay Barnett - 36 games, 6 goals, 12 assists, 7.15 avg - After an injury-interrupted first season, Barnett really flourished in his defensive midfield role, providing excellent cover in the double pivot alongside Alagich and still contributing creatively as well. Popped up with a banger of a goal from time to time too. DM - Ethan Alagich - 38 apps, 5 goals, 13 assists, 7.17 avg - The other half of the dynamic duo at defensive midfield, Alagich is one of my favourite players due to his ability to push the game forward. He's a relentless midfielder, and a real success story for the Adelaide United academy. RW - Luka Jovanovic - 34 apps, 14 goals, 11 assists, 7.32 avg - The signing of Yengi pushed Jovanovic out of a first team spot initially but he managed to hold down a hotly contested right wing role as the season went on and put up great numbers. He also took a big step forward in his development. LW - Harry Crawford - 31 apps, 6 goals, 4 assists, 7.09 avg - We had a lot of rotations on the wings across the season but I've put Crawford in this season's best XI, considering his age he did a great job covering for an often-injured Elvis Kamsoba and was a handful for A-League defenders constantly. ST - Musa Toure - 31 apps, 33 goals, 3 assists, 7.57 avg - Not sure what else can be said about Toure, he's just put together possibly the greatest A-League season of all time and swept all of the awards once again. He scored 19 goals in 18 regular season games before scoring a hat trick in each leg of the semi final and a goal in the Grand Final. Just brilliant. ST - Tete Yengi - 31 apps, 28 goals, 5 assists, 7.66 avg - Yengi had a weird first season at the club. He bullied part-time defenders in the early Asian Champions League and Australia Cup games, and had 16 goals in 10 appearances by the time the A-League season started. However, it took him 10 games to score in the league and while he had a purple patch mid-season, he also finished slowly. Still an incredible weapon to have. Results The 16-1 win in the Australian Cup over Cairns amateur club Leichhardt FC was certainly a career highlight for me. Youth Intake We had to let a couple of decent prospects go due to being from Victoria but Ivica Mlinar looks the most likely out of this cohort to have a career here. In the second half of the season he even trained with the first team and made 2 starting appearances. 10. ADELAIDE UNITED HOMEGROWN CHALLENGE Season 1 | 2023/24 It was a very successful year for Adelaide United, as we won the A-League double! We comfortably won the title in the end after leading most of the way and then endured a thrilling penalty shootout Grand Final victory over our bitter arch-rivals Melbourne City. We thoroughly disproved the notion of 'you can't win anything with kids' as we sported an extremely young side and developed some future stars. Transfers The Barnett and Goodwin deals were both done before I arrived, but I still managed to do good business in the transfer market this season. We leant heavily on promoting youth, but I did spend a little cash on bringing home Ryan McGowan, an Adelaide-born defender who has played all over the world in the past decade and adds some much-needed experience to our backline. In January, after some departures, we also brought in Elvis Kamsoba on a free transfer, with the Burundian international starting his career in the Adelaide suburban leagues. We signed Valentino Yuel but I accidentally didn't register him and subsequently released him. In terms of outgoings, I was very pleased with how many non-South Australians I managed to get rid of in January, which allowed me to promote some youth team players. We've also released Luke Duzel and Lachlan Barr; there's only 3 non-South Aussies left in the squad at the end of the first season. Squad I got a chance to rotate a lot throughout the season, with frequent injuries and a lot of young players missing at times for youth international games. The average age of the squad was incredibly low, and some teenagers became genuine first team players. First XI GK - Joe Gauci - 25 apps, 8 clean sheets, 3 assists, 6.85 avg - The A-League's best young keeper, Gauci was named the league's best goalkeeper and has been called up for Australia. He's requested a move to a stronger club, with an asking price of $2,200,000. RB - Panashe Madanha - 28 apps, 4 goals, 3 assists, 6.98 avg - The club already had a lot of talent on the wings so I gave 19yo Madanha a shot at right back and he performed really well. Still has a lot of developing to do but should be a long term option. CB - Ryan McGowan - 28 apps, 4 goals, 6.92 avg - Was brought in to provide some experience and stability to our defenders. I was happy with his performances but I am mindful of his age and how he could drop off pretty quickly. CB - Panagiotis Kikianis - 22 apps, 1 assist, 6.72 avg - Kikianis and Alexander Popovic both vied for this position and while neither of them excelled, they're both still very young and have a long way to go. Kikianis also provided some versatility at left back on occasion and will remain a first-team squad member. LB - Ryan Kitto - 23 apps, 3 goals, 4 assists, 6.92 avg - The club captain and longest-serving player started the season brilliantly but dropped off slightly as it went on. Still finished with a good average rating and could continue to feature heavily for a while yet. Struggled a little with injury. DM - Jay Barnett - 22 apps, 3 goals, 4 assists, 6.92 avg - We had to wait a while for Barnett to get up to speed due to an injury at the start of the season but he slotted in beautifully to replace the departed club icon Isaias. DM - Ethan Alagich - 23 apps, 5 goals, 4 assists, 7.00 avg - Arguably the biggest success story of the season in terms of development, the son of foundation Red Richie Alagich adapted brilliantly to a new defensive midfield role and became a first team regular. He's now progressed to being one of the best midfielders in the A-League and is on the radar of Socceroos boss Graham Arnold. RW - Elvis Kamsoba - 18 apps, 3 goals, 2 assists, 6.96 avg - We added Kamsoba to our winger stables for depth and he performed well, covering in for some key injuries as well. It's cool to have an African international in the squad as well. LW - Nestory Irankunda - 21 apps, 3 goals, 9 assists, 7.25 avg - The genuine wonderkid at AUFC had an unsurprisingly fantastic season, although injury caused him to miss our Grand Final triumph. Was a creative force on the left wing and committed to Tanzania with 7 caps already. Sadly, it does not look like he will be receptive to renewing his contract so it's likely he'll be testing himself against the free agent market. ST - Luka Jovanovic - 27 apps, 15 goals, 5 assists, 7.08 avg - Was thrust into an important role at a young age and stepped up magnificently, bagging 15 goals and providing a wonderful strike partner for Musa Toure. We are in the hunt for a new striker but Jovanovic will still be a regular feature regardless. ST - Musa Toure - 26 apps, 16 goals, 8 assists, 7.37 avg - Musa is the third Toure brother to come through the academy, with Al Hassan and Mohamed both now playing in Europe. Musa could follow shortly after a tremendous season that has seen him named the A-League Player of the Year, A-League Young Player of the Year and AUFC Player of the Year. 11. ADELAIDE UNITED HOMEGROWN CHALLENGE Way back in FM15, I had a very long save with my local A-League side, Adelaide United. In this save, which I played for several years, I only signed players born in South Australia, of which Adelaide is the capital, and managed to dominate the domestic scene as well as build AUFC into one of the biggest clubs in the world, including winning the Club World Championship final. It was a very fun, fulfilling save and it scratched the itch of civic pride for me. I want to replicate that success with Adelaide United in FM24, and the timing is perfect because in real life the Reds have found a sustainable model in developing local talent, then selling for a profit. The club has really positioned itself as 'South Australia's Team' due to the large amount of local first team players, including Ryan Kitto, Alexandar Popovic, Joe Gauci and the recently departed Craig Goodwin. They've also developed a large group of promising homegrown talent, led by the mercurial Nestory Irankunda, who's on the radar of Bayern Munich, and even father-son prospects like Ethan Alagich and Bernardo. Generally, Adelaide United have also featured young African refugee footballers developed through the youth system. With very little upheaval, I should be able to not only build a squad of solely South Australian players, but also include some really talented prospects that I can develop into great players. I could capitalise on a genuine golden generation at Adelaide United and maybe build up the national team as well. 12. LB - Ryan Kitto - 23 apps, 3 goals, 4 assists, 6.92 avg - The club captain and longest-serving player started the season brilliantly but dropped off slightly as it went on. 14. It's very difficult in Japan to get a team that's actually eligible for J3-League promotion. Considering the developers have chosen not to give academy teams to a lot of clubs so it's more realistic to Japanese football, I'm hoping that they also match the fact that corporate owned clubs like Honda FC, Tokyo Musashino United and Marayasu Okazaki cannot get promoted.
  15. @darren1983 I have raised the Japan issue as a bug. Every club not within the top 3 divisions at the start of the game has Academy Coaching and Youth Recruitment set to 'None' so they will not produce any regens in their current state.
  16. Currently, all clubs not in the J League, J2 League or J3 League have Youth Recruitment and Academy Coaching set to 'none' and subsequently produce no regens.
  17. SV Austria Salzburg Season 7 | 2029/30 Competitions 2. Liga FIXTURES Our best ever season in terms of finishing position, points and proximity to promotion. In the back stretch of the season we sadly weren't able to string enough results together and SV Lafnitz made very few mistakes on their way to the title. A great scoring season for us spearheaded by league golden boot Yannic Foschtl, and we had a pretty stable back four albeit with a poor keeper behind them. Hopefully we can get the jump on Grazer AK and whoever comes down from the Bundesliga next season. OFB Cup Bucked the trend of our usual second round exits in the Cup after we pulled off an amazing upset victory over Bundesliga side SKN St Polten, in their stadium no less. Unfortunately we couldn't replicate the giant-killing at home to SV Ried in the third round. Personnel Transfers I said I wanted to avoid selling key players but I couldn't help trying to strike good deals for players I thought I could replace. After putting a lot of time into him I decided to let Enrico Muller (25A) leave on a free to Floridsdorfer. Then our first foreign suitors came in for a player, with Schalke 04 taking an interest in Ben Weiss (27B). I decided to let him go due to some good depth behind him. Then in January, it was a familiar face knocking on the door with Austria Wien, who seem to be keeping tabs on how our players develop. They paid 1.4m for Ljubo Jonjic (28E), which was honestly a bit surprising considering he hadn't even broken into my first team yet. Squad Stats Best Eleven GK: Manuel Kalman: Definitely benefitting from an improved back four, he's starting to decline at a rapid rate as a goalkeeper, but still no viable heir has emerged. RB: Benedikt Erhard: Started the season really well with 8 assists before the winter break, but he became a defensive liability at times in the second half of the season. I still have a lot of trust in his ability though. Been captain for 6 seasons now. CB: Simon Bier (24C): Made some strides in his mental and physical development, he's really turned out well as an intercepting defender, and at 22 is now a fully matured senior member of this squad. CB: Mathias Theiner: Starting to decline a little physically, but still puts in strong performances next to Bier. LB: Marcel Wagner (26C): Not a great wing back option but Erhard creates enough on the right hand side, Wagner is just a super reliable full back. Relies on the strong mental and physical aspects of his game. DM: Rene Balitsch (28A): Unsurprisingly, Balitsch had a fantastic season as a defensive midfielder, and managed to curb his aggression a lot better as well. Easily the best player at the club and is wanted by several elite clubs including Bayern Munich, PSG and AC Milan. DM: Grgica Kartelo (27D): Stepped up his performances this year, still a super reliable contributor but had more outstanding games scattered through there as well. RW: Strahinja Babic (24D): Had his best season in terms of average ratings, he's matured as a footballer and developed some consistency in his performance. Still waiting for him to make some big contributions in terms of goals and assists. LW: Michael Mayer (28D): Stepped up into the first team slot after the sale of Weiss, his performances weren't amazing but I do think he still easily has the potential to turn into a great player for us. ST: Yannic Foschtl: Career-best season for Foschtl, cracking 20 goals for the first time and winning the league Golden Boot. ST: Alexander Bracher (27A): With Din Rahmanovic well down on form, I turned to our other striker options and Bracher got a much better run at it compared to the last few years. Finished with a respectable 8 goals, and also had some decent performances at DM when needed. Accolades Youth Development Youth Intake Another disappointing intake, and there was only one player I felt like signing, although he could be the answer to my prayers when it comes to strikers. Philipp Wenzel (30A): He has no idea how to play up front but I will be dedicating my time to teaching him how, because Wenzel has the attributes to play there. Looks to have a good personality for development, bit of pace, strong technically, really excited about him as a prospect. Academy Players in the First Team Squad Notable Academy players not included in Best Eleven Nedzad Alihodzic (28C): Got elevated to the senior squad after the sale of Weiss, and played plenty of football with 4 goals and 3 assists as a decent contribution. His unambitious personality is probably going to hold him back. Michael Bonig (27F): Has been simmering in the senior squad for a while now as a longshot striker prospect but he impressed me this season, with 7 goals. Developing pretty well as a player, he's never going to be our main guy up there but can hopefully continue to contribute as a squad player. Josef Riedel (28B): Didn't develop as well this season but Babic's form on the right wing was significantly improved which left Riedel mainly coming off the bench. Wolfgang Beckers (29A): Despite not getting a heap of minutes, Beckers developed super well thanks to that Resolute personality. He's got Erhard ahead of him at right back but I might try and give him some more minutes on the left hand side especially. He could easily become one of my best players in the next couple of seasons. Academy Players Around The World Finances & Facilities We're starting to struggle to stay afloat now, mainly due to a major development that I'll talk about below. Our wage spending is as tight as it's ever been but I am disappointed in the return on investment in our youth facilities considering what a massive chunk of our budget it represents. However, the biggest news of the season was we finally announced, built and moved into our new 11,500 capacity stadium after taking out a fifteen million euro loan to build it. The loan repayments are an added financial hassle now but I'll reserve my criticisms until I see how profitable a bigger stadium is. Our facilities are looking good now but the board is really paranoid about us going bankrupt. Progression
  18. I've already been looking at the JFL (fourth tier) for which club I want to take over.
  19. SV Austria Salzburg Season 6 | 2028/29 Competitions 2. Liga JULY TO NOVEMBER | FEBRUARY TO MAY Death, taxes and Austria Salzburg finishing seventh. It was an odd season for us, with some really poor runs of form where we kept losing by a goal or two accompanied by dealing out some absolute drubbings, include smacking around eventual champions SV Ried 5-1 in our last home game of the season. We finished with the second most goals scored and the third highest goal difference in the league, which I think gives a good account of our level, once we can build some more consistency. We're starting to see a bit of stability now with our some of our earliest academy players hitting 19/20, so hopefully we can make good on our promise and have a proper tilt at promotion next season. OFB Cup We reached the secound round of the cup again and got our second Salzburg Derby of the save, going down 3-1 to a side that has won the Austrian Bundesliga 15 times in a row. I guess when you put it in that perspective it doesn't sound too bad. Personnel Transfers With our squad boasting a lot of young talent on the wings and in defensive midfield, and with our finances looking a bit shaky due to increased spending on the youth set-up, I made the decision to let a couple of first team youngsters leave the club on large outlays, and with significant sell-on clauses attached as well. Both Soren Schutz (26A) and Christoph Deinhofer (26D) had pushed to leave the club and I decided against potentially unsettling the squad by keeping them around, with both players leaving for heavyweights Austria Wien. I was happy with the fees we got for them, and it opened up increased opportunities for some of last intake's most promising players. Squad Stats Best Eleven GK: Manuel Kalman: Had a much better season than last year, and kept a career-high 12 clean sheets in our campaign. Turning 34 in June, by no means past it as a keeper but I'm still desperate for his successor to emerge. RB: Benedikt Erhard: Enjoying the prime of his career now, had another season with plenty of assist contributions and his best average rating yet. He's still got a lot of football left to give to this club which is fantastic because he'll be crucial to any promotion tilt. CB: Simon Bier (24C): He's quietly become one of my favourite and most reliable players; didn't start off as an instant first team player but has developed into a good honest centre back and has cemented himself into my starting line-up, fantastic season for him. CB: Mathias Theiner: Probably past his peak now, but still a serviceable centre back alongside Bier. We'll hope to get a couple more solid seasons out of him before he really starts to decline. LB: Marcel Wagner (26C): After mainly picking up minutes off the bench for the last couple of seasons, I gave Wagner a lot more gametime to see if he could replace Florian Wiedl and although he could be average at times, he did still outperform his much older teammate. May have to fight to keep his spot with a couple of young left backs looking for minutes as well. DM: Rene Balitsch (28A): Balitsch's season was summed up in his opening two games; in his club debut he scored a wonderful free kick to become the club and the OFB Cup's youngest ever goalscorer, and then in his league debut he got sent off within half an hour. Finished with 3 red cards for a season so he definitely has a mean streak but he is an outstanding prospect that is developing into a physical beast, I expect the mental and technical side of his game to come along very strongly as well. DM: Grgica Kartelo (27D): Compared to Balitsch or the outgoing Soren Schutz, Kartelo is a much more understated midfielder but his strong mentality and his decision-making allows him to play a pretty important role in my setup. Rarely outstanding, but rarely poor, I enjoy his consistency. RW: Strahinja Babic (24D): With Deinhofer out of the picture, Babic enjoyed long spells as the undisputed starter out there on the right wing and started the season superbly. But towards the end of the campaign, he dropped off a lot and Joseph Riedel from last year's intake performed really well when he got the call-up, so Babic will need to up his game. LW: Ben Weiss (27B): Massive improvement on performance from Ben, he's become a real headache for opposition fullbacks as expected, and he's developing nicely as a prospect as well. ST: Yannic Foschtl: After a really slow start where he couldn't buy a goal, Foschtl was lethal after the winter break and finished with 15 league goals to continue a remarkable run of consistency - he's scored 15, 15, 14 and 15 in the last four league campaigns. Also became the club's all-time leading scorer which is a well-deserved accolade. ST: Din Rahmanovic: Din was well down on his return last season where he bagged 18 in 22, so 12 goals in 30 appearances was a bit disappointing for him. He's never going to be a particularly well-rounded striker, I did try Alexander Brascher in his spot a couple of times to varying degrees of success, but I'd like a decent striker to come through my youth intake soon. Accolades Youth Development Youth Intake Frankly a pretty poor youth intake, with no 'ready-to-go' prospects, so I mainly focused on trying to pick up players I thought had the mental capacity to improve without having to pump games into them. Wolfgang Beckers (29A): A resolute right back, I'd like him to work on his quickness before I think he'll be ready to challenge for a spot but his professionalism should see him develop quickly. Benjamin Kaminski (29B): A dimunitive but technically sound midfielder, I've given him a chance due to the prior success of the even shorter Soren Schutz but I do fear Kaminski's physicality or lack thereof is going to hold him back considerably. Mathis Hartmann (29C): Not a massive fan of his workrate, and he's going to be relentlessly trained on his quickness, but he might become a goalscoring option for us. Marc Salz (29D): Saw enough in his attributes to give him a speculative longshot. Timo Brand (29E): Signed as goalkeeping depth. Academy Players in the FIrst Team Squad Some notable players not included in best eleven listed earlier in the post: Josef Riedel (28B): Largely had a developmental role trying to learn how to play as a wing back, but he did get a shot in the first team late in the season at right wing after Babic dropped off and he did really well, so is definitely gunning for a bigger role in 2029/30. Alexander Bracher (27A): Had a big improvement in average ratings from his debut season, I'm not sure if he'll ever truly be good enough to start at either defensive midfielder or striker consistently, but he has shown he can play reasonably well in either role. Ljubo Jonjic (28E): Pretty frail for a defensive midfielder who can play centre back, but he is a fantastic passer and played a lot of minutes off the bench. Still very early days in his Austria Salzburg career, and I do enjoy having a couple of Croats in my midfield. Michael Mayer (28D): As far as debut seasons for a winger go in this save, Mayer's was pretty respectable. Weiss is definitely the main guy on the left hand side but whenever he wasn't available, Mayer could step up with a few great performances scattered in there. Ex-Academy Players Around The World Finances & Facilities As you can see, without those two transfers at the start of the season we'd be in the red by now. Our spending has tapered off for the time being, with no upgrades to our facilities, and our board is still looking for that new stadium site. I'm going to try and not have to sell anybody this off-season though, I think given the chance to gel and develop again next season we can make some serious inroads with this squad. Progression
  20. SV Austria Salzburg Season 5 | 2027/28 Competitions 2. Liga SEASON PREVIEW | FIXTURES | PAST POSITIONS A bit of a season that got away for us, we were genuinely fighting for promotion for two -thirds of the season and even led the league for a couple of weeks in November. However, we are still heavy reliant on the availability and/or form of a few key legacy players, especially our strikers, and when we copped some injuries and poor form from key guys in the second half of the season we really fell away. I am generally feeling a lot more optimistic about our promotion chances now, our young stars are still all on the up. OFB Cup A pretty standard cup run for us - smack a Regionalliga team around in the first round, then get smacked around by a Bundesliga team in the second round. Personnel Transfers We released a couple of long serving legacy players in Marco Hodl and Raffael Kogler as well as failed prospect Aleksandar Zivkovic, but no major transfers to speak of this season. Will probably need to look to sell players soon to keep funding our youth development. Squad Stats Best Eleven GK: Manuel Kalman: Had probably his worst season yet unfortunately, in the second half of the season in particular he had a torrid run of form and probably single-handedly cost us a lot of points. I'm kind of desperate for a good goalkeeping prospect to show up in the intake as Kalman isn't getting any younger. RB: Benedikt Erhard: Another consistently good season from Erhard, his production was down a bit on last season but once again having players like him holding down a defensive post is super helpful while my regen attackers come through. CB: Matthias Theiner: Remarkably was his first season averaging less than 7 match rating in this save, as he approaches 30 his attributes are starting to decline which is why I'm giving more opportunities to my younger defenders. I still expect him to be a strong contributor for a few more seasons yet. CB: Simon Bier (24C): Bier had been more of a backup prospect for a few seasons but I gave him more first team opportunity this season and he developed reasonably well, and didn't lower his colours in terms of performance. Definitely outperformed Hausberger and Sandmayr and has caused the former to be let go. LB: Florian Wiedl: Wiedl is another player starting to approach the backend of his career but is still a consistent performer at left back, and provides some versatility as well. DM: Soren Schutz (26A): The dimunitive playmaker is beginning to attract the attention of the likes of Austria Wien and Rapid Wien, he's developed beautifully in his second senior season and is genuinely one of the best playmakers in the country. His size means he usually plays more of a backseat role without imposing himself on the game. DM: Grgica Kartelo (27D): Kartelo got an opportunity to play first team football and took it with both hands; his resolute personality has seen him improve in leaps and bounds as a footballer. One of the best debut seasons in this save yet, I rarely felt like playing a more experienced option like Schiedermeier would be beneficial. RW: Christoph Deinhofer (26D): Another player who at times was being touted by Bundesliga clubs, Deinhofer and Strahinja Babic both trained really well and constantly pushed eachother for a starting spot. I'm hoping his on-field performances can start to catch up with his development, Deinhofer has basically been improving non-stop for 2 years in that regard. LW: Ben Weiss (27B): I was in desperate need of some new blood on the left wing, so Ben got his opportunity early and I generally stuck with him over the course of the season instead of playing the departing Schwaighofer. He didn't have a great season in terms of rating, but I got glimpses of how damaging his speed and agility can be. ST: Yannic Foschtl: Yannic's now on the precipice of becoming the club's all-time leading league goalscorer, and he deserves it. Incredibly valuable for this team, when he's not playing we really don't have any other good options. ST: Din Rahmanovic: 18 goals in 22 games for Rahmanovic showed how lethal a goalscorer he can be on his day, and he was on-track to finish as the league's top scorer until he suffered a stress facture in April. Was no coincidence that our form completely well away after he went down. Accolades Youth Development Youth Intake Our best intake yet! We picked up 5 top prospects including probably the best player we've ever produced. Rene Balitsch (28A): This guy is the club's meal ticket, either he's going to drag us to promotion or his outgoing transfer is going to fund our youth development for the next 10 years. An aggressive beast even at his young age, I'm so excited to have a midfield partnership including the powerful Balitsch and the small but creative Schutz. Josef Riedel (28B): Another great winger prospect, with a good personality as well. Due to his height and the fact we already have a number of options at right wing, I'm going to try developing him into a wing back option, I think he has the ability to play there. Nedzad Alihodzic (28C): The unambitious personality will hinder his development but we needed left wing options and Alihodzic is one of two players in this intake I'll be trying as an inside forward alongside Ben Weiss. Has the speed and the flair required to do cool ****. Michael Mayer (28D): Mayer is the inferior player to Alihodzic right now but I think he can develop far more, so over the off-season I'll be tossing up who I keep in the first team and who I send to the reserves. Ljubo Jonjic (28E): Jonjic is more similar to Schutz in the first team than his compatriot Kartelo, a good playmaker without having much physicality. Might not be too involved in the first team early on but if I do sell Schutz or another centre mid it's good to know there's depth there. Academy Players with First Team Minutes Goalkeepers: nil Defenders: Simon Bier (24C). Marcel Wagner (26C), Matej Lovric (26E), Benedict Bierlein (27C) Midfielders: Enrico Muller (25A), Soren Schutz (26A), Ben Weiss (27B), Grgica Kartelo (27D) Forwards: Strahinja Babic (24D), Christoph Deinhofer (26D), Alexander Bracher (27A), Michael Bonig (27I) Academy Players Around The World Goalkeepers: nil Defenders: Adem Oguz (23A), Aleksandar Zivkovic (23B) Midfielders: nil Forwards: Bjorn Braun (23E), Moritz Dopatka (24B) Finances & Facilities The cost of our youth setup has outpaced the Austrian FA funding at this point, we will be cutting the wage budget slightly with the departure of some legacy players but what we probably need is to sell one of our young prospects, preferably a central midfielder or winger where we have a lot of depth. No improvements to the facilities as a result of this financial squeeze, but to be fair they really are incredibly good for a club in the Austrian second division. The board is still looking for a new stadium but not sure we're going to have the funds to pull it off. Progression
  21. My first year crop is looking pretty poor in comparison to my 2nd, 3rd and 4th year crops but we've only got 7-8 legacy players left at this point, plenty of guys who are 2.5-3* current ability. I think I might drop a little bit over the next couple of years but then should start really picking up momentum once the best guys now hit 20-21yo. Unfortunately after the sale of Oguz some more big Austrian clubs have started sniffing around my players, seems like we have a bit of a reputation now.
  22. SV Austria Salzburg Season 4 | 2026/27 Competitions 2. Liga FIXTURES We settle back into our 'natural position' of 7th, we might've been able to capitalise more on a late run of form but I decided to start playing more youngsters as soon as survival was secured, with 7-8 games to go. Conceded 33 goals which is 10 less than last season and also finished with by far our best goal difference at +16. We're really starting to build this team into something special, I don't think it should take too much longer for us to get up into the Bundesliga. OFB Cup We had another golden opportunity to make a quarter final, coming up against 2. Liga rivals SV Horn, but we bottled a penalty shootout to get bundled out in the Third Round. We're making a habit of playing a 3rd or even 4th tier side in a cup tie for our season opener and smacking them around, I quite enjoy it. Personnel Transfers 'Twas the transfer I was dreading but one I knew was inevitable. Adem Oguz (23A)'s rapid development from raw centre back to star defensive midfielder meant the bigger clubs in Austria and even some in Germany were circling, and he refused to sign a new contract, so with a year level on his deal I pulled the trigger and sold him to FC Admira Wacker Modling for €1.8 million. Now we watch his career from afar with interest! Squad Stats Best Eleven GK: Manuel Kalman: Had his best season at the club in this save, with a save high 8 clean sheets and a save low 35 goals conceded in 31 appearances. Still has a fair few years left in him. RB: Benedikt Erhard: Erhard finished up as the second most prolific assist-maker in the league this season and finished with 13 in total, breaking his personal record, another great season for our skipper. CB: Matthias Theiner: Speaking of great seasons, the usual from Theiner. CB: Mathias Hausberger: Hausberger managed to claw back his starting spot this season, wasn't too disappointed with his average ratings and was still able to rotate him where necessary. LB: Florian Wiedl: Another above average season from a player that looked like they were going to bounce out of the side a couple of years ago. DM: Nico Schiedermeier: Nico finally pulled out a decent season but ironically it's going to be his last season starting as we now have a full roster of exciting young defensive mids. His versatility will still be invaluable. DM: Soren Schutz (26A): Schutz has developed into a 3.5* prospect and he's so far ahead of everyone else in terms of passing it's not funny. For a first year player he didn't lower his colours and he has a chance to really breakout into a superstar this season. RW: Christoph Deinhofer (26D): He's on the radar of heavyweights Austria Wien after a great first season, chipping with 11 goal contributions off a right wing at just 16. Still has a ways to go with some of the technical aspects of his game but has earned his spot in my first team setup for sure. LW: Alexander Schwaighofer: A less impressive season for Schwaighofer this time around, but he did pop up with some important goals. Probably coming up to his last season at the club, we'll extend him for one year and wait for a new left wing prospect to pop up. ST: Yannic Foschtl: Yannic refuses to take a step backwards, and improves on his goal tally for the third consecutive year with 18, including 15 in the league. Him and Rahmanovic have created a great partnership up front. ST: Din Rahmanovic: He might never get that consistency to elevate his game to the next level, but Rahmanovic was still superb in patches this season and finished with a career high 16 goals. His four goal effort against FC Dornbirn was a career highlight. Accolades Youth Development Youth Intake Another fantastic intake, with plenty of options to add to the first team setup next season. I'm going to have start being more selective in who I pick up again now. Alexander Bracher (27A): The best prospect in the intake, his work rate is a worry but he'll be able to get developmental minutes at defensive midfielder and striker which will be helpful to me and to him. I love good decision makers. Ben Weiss (27B): A tricky, agile winger who'll play first team next season, he's the first player we've produced with serious pace to burn, should be a handful for 2. Liga defenders from the getgo. Benedict Bierlein (27C): His determination and ability to push forward hampers him, but Bierlein should be a decent option at left back in the future. Grgica Kartelo (27D): Kartelo has already started developing well and he adds to our strong midfield stock, I'll be fast tracking him into the first team, he could even be starting alongside Schutz (26A) next year. Doesn't really have a glaring weakness for his age. Felix Ziegler (27E): A winger-striker with the ability to do the unexpected, he's another player with low determination that will probably hold them back but I'm willing to roll the dice and see if he can still develop. Quirin Haas (27F): We seem to have no problem producing players who have good first touch, passing and decision making. Haas will be given more time to develop, there's plenty of options ahead of him in the pecking order currently. Kai Bolter (27G): A big, team-first centre half, he'll need to put a bit more meat on his bones before he's ready to get more first team action, Manfred Conradi (27H): A pretty one dimensional winger, he's quick and agile and can use the ball reasonably well but his mentals need a lot of work. Michael Bonig (27I): Although far from the best player in the intake, he's the first striker we've produced over 6 feet which means he's gonna get fast tracked as a target man prospect. David Huber (27J): Signed him as a developmental right back. Youth Players in the First Team Squad Youth Players in the Big Wide World Finances and Facilities Mainly thanks to the Oguz transfer, we're sitting in a relatively strong position financially now, although the increasing costs of our youth setup might begin to become a burden. I'll probably need to keep selling top prospects to stay afloat on top of those Austrian FA payments. We made major in-roads with our youth setup, bumping both Youth Recruitment and Junior Coaching to Excellent, which no doubt contributed to our great intake this season. The board has been unwilling to approve any upgrades elsewhere since about October so I think they're still planning to build a new stadium. Our facilities are already pretty amazing as you can see below, so I don't really mind if we focus on getting out of our tiny current ground. Progression
  23. SV Austria Salzburg Season 3 | 2025/26 Competitions 2. Liga FIXTURES Another season of progression, this time we finish a save-high 5th although we weren't ever in the conversation for promotion as St Polten pretty much ran their own race. Our goal difference went backwards as well, but considering we have been increasing the number of academy players each season I'm honestly pretty happy with the fact we're still slowly going up the league standings. OFB Cup Another relatively tough draw in the cup, although a 6-0 win in the season opener was pretty fun to watch. Gave a few young guys a starting berth against Bundesliga side WSG Tirol, wasn't too concerned about losing that one. Personnel Transfers I grew tired pretty quickly of Moritz Dopatka (24B)'s whinging and he becomes the first academy player to leave the club, joining our 2. Liga rivals FC Marchfeld Donauauen. There was a bit of a mid-season transfer saga though, as Adem Oguz (23A)'s rapid development has him on the radar of several Austrian Bundesliga and German 2. Bundesliga teams. None were willing to meet my asking price in January though, so I'll probably try and move him over the summer - there's no chance he signs a new contract here. Squad Stats Best Eleven GK: Manuel Kalman: Had an improved season on last year, but I'm still waiting for a 2 star goalkeeper prospect to show up so I can start trying to blood Kalman's replacement, he's not getting any younger. RB: Benedikt Erhard: The club captain had his best season to date, averaging 6.95 in match rating and looking a lot more solid defensively than in previous seasons. Just a super reliable guy. CB: Matthias Theiner: Once again, Theiner just shows up every week. Another season averaging 7.0 or above match ratings. CB: Luka-Nils Sandmayr: The left centre back (and left back) spot is a bit less certain than Theiner and Erhard and this season I got the best out of Sandmayr in the middle after he performed so well at left back last season. LB: Florian Wiedl: After falling out of favour in 2024/25, he started this season in fantastic form but tapered off big time in the back half of the season, and was lucky we seemed to have a perpetual string of small injuries to our other defenders that kind of kept chugging his season along. DM: Adem Oguz (23A): Another season of great development from Oguz, and he's now the best player in the squad. Had an impressive season as a defensive midfielder and really grew into that role after starting as a centre back, but he's also grown out of this club and will likely be leaving over the off-season. DM: Nico Schiedermeier: Nico's still yet to really break out and start performing really well in his role but at the same time he also rarely lowers his colours. Will continue to be a good placeholder but there's a number of good midfield options coming through now. RW: Raffael Kogler: Kogler's been developing for a couple of years now but his performances had been pretty ordinary. He got more of a chance to shine this season when Marinko Sorda copped a long-term injury and finally delivered on some of his promise. LW: Alexander Schwaighofer: I've been pretty impressed with how Schwaighofer has stepped up as other wingers fell away in the last couple of seasons. Sorda's ACL meant he was our main man this year and while he wasn't incredible, I feel we got enough out of him. ST: Yannick Foschtl: Another great season from Foschtl who has established himself as our number 1 forward pretty comprehensively now. His goal tally is steadily rising, from 9 goals in the first season to 13 and now 17, and he's developing as a footballer plenty also. ST: Marco Hodl: His best football is probably behind him now, and he is incredibly hot-and-cold, going on good scoring runs before just as easily going 10 games without a goal. He's going to get phased out of the team over the next couple of seasons. Accolades Youth Development Youth Intake What a blessing! Our first intake where I've had more than four or five genuine prospects join the club, as well as a couple of good midfielders which will immediately soften the blow of Oguz's imminent departure. Fantastic output, got a good option at nearly every position in the squad and pretty much all of these guys could pinch-hit in the senior team next year. Soren Schutz (26A): Our best regen yet, Schutz is an absolutely fantastic user of the ball and will be starting in the first XI next season. He's absolutely tiny but still has a bit of growing to do, the blueprints are all there for an excellent defensive midfielder in the future. Roland Stollinger (26B): Something of a physical force for a winger his age, he's raw in a few areas but I expect him to challenge for minutes from the get go. Needs more of a cutting edge when it comes to his dribbling but he's very sound on the ball. Marcel Wagner (26C): Either footed defender who can play anywhere in the backline will be super valuable, and he's the answer to my Zivkovic problem. Going to be our backup right back next season. Christoph Deinhofer (26D): Honestly can't remember why I had him as D and Stollinger as B because Deinhofer is probably the second best player in this intake. Very quick, already developing well, passable mentals this early on, just needs to work on some of the technical abilities required of a wing but he's going to play a lot on the right wing. Matej Lovric (26E): Lovric looks like the type of player I love, similar to Benedikt Erhard. No frills, never complains, just puts in a shift. His speed isn't the greatest but he could very easily become my starting left back in a couple of seasons. Moritz Wieland (26F): Our midfield academy players have all technically proficient guys that perhaps don't value the grunt work too much which is why I was very happy to pick up Wieland as a genuine defensive midfielder. I'm not sure how well he'll develop with that determination but we'll see how he goes. Sander Hullegie (26G): Another wing prospect, not really as great as the other two in this intake but could still be a useful member of the squad, it's probably the area where we need the most depth. Roman Friebe (26H): We're a bit light on for strikers so I've brought in Friebe as a raw prospect. His off the ball, composure and strength need a LOT of work but I've got a bit of optimism about this guy. Samid Pasic (26I): My coaches put Pasic in a rung below the rest of these guys in terms of potential, but his versatility alone will be super helpful and I saw enough from his attributes. Youth Players in the First Team Squad Adem Oguz (23A): I've spent plenty of time talking about him over the last couple of updates, he's simply the best we've got at Austria Salzburg and I'm hoping I can cash in on him for a decent sum before his contract runs out. I'll be keeping tabs on his progress away from the club, keen to see how far he can go (I reckon he'll represent Turkey at senior level in the next couple of years). Luckily we have some good midfield prospects to take his place. Aleksandar Zivkovic (23B): Another less than stellar season of development for Zivkovic, he's going to sit in the reserves next season while I give Marcel Wagner (26C) a go. Bjorn Braun (23E): Brought him into the first team setup as injury cover for Marinko Sorda. He'll be leaving the team on a free this off-season. Marcel Heider (24A): Another season riding the bench for Heider. I'm going to try and give him some games once survival is secured next season. Simon Bier (24C): Played a few games off the bench, his average rating was pretty terrible but I was happy with how he developed over the course of the season, can definitely now see him carving out a career here as a third/fourth-string centre back. Strahinja Babic (24D): Sorda's injury meant a lot of gametime for Babic and I even started him in 20 games. Developed a little as a footballer but there's now a couple of options in the intake for his position and so he'll need to keep getting better or he might get overtaken. Enrico Muller (25A): Has successfully retrained as a defensive midfielder, now needs to kick on and start living up to his potential. Didn't completely disgrace himself when he got on the pitch but he'll be vying with Schutz (26A) for midfield minutes next season. Raoul Simmo (25B): I had high hopes for Simmo this season but his low determination has held him back unfortunately and there's more midfielders coming behind him to overtake him. He'll probably drop back into the reserve squad next season. Tobias Hagemann (25C): Non-descript season for Tobias, he got limited opportunity, managed to get even slower as the season went on. Gonna give his spot to Lovric and hope we can actually stick a backup left back, already tried a fair few options. Finances and Facilities There was a lot going on in this space this season! We finish up with a balance of just £312k but we certainly had something to show for it. First, our training facilities were downgraded in July but after a couple of FA payments we were able to upgrade them again and get them back to 'Good.' We also got our junior coaching bumped up to 'Good.' Then, in March, we received notice that a tycoon was eyeing off the club. And about a week or so later, it became a reality with 2m being pumped into the club coffers. And while the new chairman might have had vague ideas about improving the squad or something daft like that, I took no time to pump those funds directly into our youth facilities. We're going to hopefully continue to produce some top regens in the next couple of seasons.
