  1. Last year I ran this challenge for a little while, what does everyone think about a similar type of thread for FM12? I was thinking I could compile a few challenges, and then anyone else could give me suggestions, or could send me save games with possible challenges in them? I would think no longer than a single season, though half seasons would be slightly more preferable. Thoughts?

    Ideas

    • Save from Relegation
    • Surprise Promotion fight
    • Get through group stage of Champs League/Europa
    • Win a Cup
    • World Cup
    • European Championships

Just a few simple ideas, anything else that may come up as well.

I like this idea because as well as keeping people fresh in their long term games, it gives people the chance to experience some leagues that they might not normally.

  2. So time for a new idea from the head of LLR.

    Desafio Dez Partidas

Basically I was looking around for something I could get interested in, and I thought some short challenges that I could run over an afternoon or so, and I thought I could come up with a series of short challenges. Only problem is there are a lot of these out there, but I also notice that they seem to have a few people commenting that when it gets up to 1 season or more they don't have time alongside their other challenges, so I am looking at a series of short challenges that would be no more than half a season long. Usually the challenge will start in the middle of the season and finish by you aiming to get to a certain position, but sometimes they will involve cup competitions or European Forays as well. I have a few ideas for challenges that I will start with, but I wanted to check that there was interest in these challenges if I started to post them.

  3. I believe we added the "Top Clubs from Europe" in the 2010 addition as well, and it seems to provide a bit more competition for our teams once they make it to Champions League Football, not sure about other continents, but I could see it making it a bit more competitive later on as well.

Also while I am here, I am looking into my latest sign-up idea...Soviet Disunion - Basically I am working on creating all the ex-Soviet Nations leagues in the game, and I will add 1 or 2 players from each nation to a club in the bottom league, undecided exactly on the points system for this, thinking something along the lines of Fantasy Football, just wondering what the level of interest is out there, remembering it may be a while before the idea becomes reality as I need to create all the leagues.

  4. I don't know how popular it would be, but I have an idea for a challenge that could be completed alongside any of the Small to Big Club Challenges, but also on its own.

    International Diversity Challenge

The first and probably easiest form of this challenge is as simple as winning your FA Cup (or Equivalent) & Champions League Finals with Starting XI compiled of players from eleven different nations. The other challenges within it each being a step up from the below would be:

    A) A Starting XI with one player from each of the top 11 nations in the world rankings at the time of the Champions League Final.

    B) A Starting XI with players from eleven different nations all outside the top 20.

    C) An entire squad Starting XI + 7 Reserves, with one player from each of the top 18 nations.

    D) An entire squad Starting XI + 7 Reserves, with players from eighteen different nations all outside the top 20.

This could be an entertaining side piece to a game you are already playing, or it could even be a new game starting with a club that already has lots of money.

  5. Thanks Joe, just looking at that for England (Of Course we would need more data) it appears to bust out all the main ideas I was looking at especially as the number of games seems pretty static, its going to be quite a large project, so it might be something I look at investigating over a period of time and once I have the data together then getting into an experiment, even if I look at this as a plan for FM11 (I could always run the experiment on FM07,08,09,10 - all installed on this comp and compare all of the results) to run the experiment out.

  6. Hey All there is a discussion going on over in the GD Forum that has taken my interest, I was wondering if anyone here could help me out with some of the data below, and what everyone's thoughts would be on an experiment that extends our data out further into the future, this would then make a great example for the argument one way or the other.

    intgoals.jpg

Well my list of those with over 50 international goals (currently in the game) is about the same in length to the others that have been posted. As for the Top European/South American Nations, the Goalscoring records are as follows:

    England: Wayne Rooney - 75

    Italy: Mario Balotelli - 62

    Argentina: Sergio Aguero - 78

Holland: Peter Kila (Regen) - 63

    Spain: Fernando Torres - 63

    France: Ishak Belfodil - 90

    Brazil: Pele - 77

    Portugal: Cristano Ronaldo - 83

Now again all of these have been broken except for Pele's.

Here is where my argument goes to having no facts to back it up, but I would like to see if anyone can provide it, or if someone can provide evidence that points a different way that would be cool too. So several points that I would like confirmed one way or the other.

    1) More Internationals are played than in the past.

    2) There are on average more goals per game than in the past.

    3) Players are debuting younger, and retiring later than in the past.

Ok so three factors that I believe could contribute towards this, yes I agree it is probably blown out a lot more in FM10 than it should been, but if it turns out the way I believe with a bit of research maybe it is not as far off target as we may be thinking. Of course to prove any of this one way or the other you would need several data points say 1980, 1990, 2000, 2010 and data on the above, as well as possibly looking at the total number of "current players with over 50 Int Goals" as another point to look at and see if these relate to each other.

Now I am really tempted to run an experiment and research the data and see what we come out with.

  7. ARGH! Got no idea what to do, bored of the team I support through overplaying (Spurs), have done Dafuge's challenge too last game and it doesn't hold the same appeal this time and find the unusual leagues (i.e. Asian ones) too odd and unknown for my liking. Any ideas what I can do as a challenge?

Come and have a go at the Big Euro Challenge, the leagues aren't that weird, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Scotland etc and its a great bunch of guys in the thread providing support and entertainment :)
