  1. I'd probably feel just as hot in a tracksuit - he's not exactly wearing shorts and a tee?
  2. She wasn't scared. She was advised not to go. Not really that odd as different people are saying different things. And the listing of scandals was in response to a question asking for sources about things the Queen has done, it's not a personal remark that these are especially the worst things she's ever done. I'm against the monarchy on the basic principle that people should be born equal under the eyes of the law, and that there is no place for a monarchy in a democracy. There's definitely things about the Queen I don't think she's done well for herself out of, but I don't think personal arguments against the monarchy (ie. Liz and Charles are bad people) are all that compelling reasons to get rid of it.
  3. Except they are not. People really were upset. The monarchy in the wake of Diana's death was very much questioned as whether we needed one. It's well known the Queen didn't like Blair and was indebted to him for saving her. Hardly tripe.
  4. You might also want to look at the Queen's response to the Aberfan disaster, the treatment of her disabled first cousins (said to have died many years younger than they actually did due to being in an institution), her lobbying to keep the royal family exempt from tax and discrimination laws. There's more, too.

  6. Would you say the same about a neighbour who you don't know personally, except maybe have seen mostly wave and say one or two "nice things" The revisionism with the Queen is amazing really. She wasn't universally liked throughout her reign. The initial response to Diana and others, put her under real scrutiny.
  7. Probably would have been more fitting had he joined the queue then just as he got to the front, it had closed 6:30 on Monday morning.
  8. Funniest bit of that to me is those people have earned that to a degree, whereas the monarchy is just a case of falling out of the wrong person.
  9. I don't really have the stamina to queue more than a couple minutes. Wouldn't want to for this anyway, but I think it was good on him to queue like everybody else. The celebs, MPs etc being able to jump the queue is a little unfair. But then I think people are mad to queue for hours like this anyway
  10. I can't think of anything at the end of a queue that would make that length of time worth it. Hope it wasn't too bad.
  11. I watched it for a bit and was expecting at some point to hear Chris Cash say "Prince Andrew has entered the diary room", or similar. But yeah, I don't think there is much chance she is really in there at all. At least the Soviets put Stalin on display, that's the sort of thing I would have expected.
  12. It could be a tower fridge with the flag draped over it. Maybe there’s a plug under the coffin. But seriously, no idea.
  13. The saddest part to me I’ve seen, is all the people in the crowds recording with their phones, when there’s already footage being filmed at much better quality than their phones
  14. The BBC streaming it reminds me of the Big Brother 24 hour live streams where you’d just watch them sleeping. But it seems very underwhelming to me. I’d half expect to be able to see her physically. The conspiracist in me reckons she’s might not be in the coffin.
