  1. Nah I never managed to get it fixed, when I re downloaded it it would always get to what was fully downloaded but said download pauses rather than let me open it, then when I clicked resume download it just repeated the process again.
  2. Ever since I've updated my mac to the newest versions then gone back to try and play older FM games, whenever I load into a match it freezes at a random point then just crashes, although there's no error message it just logs me out of my laptop and i have to put the password in again. Anyone ever had this problem before and if so any ideas on how I can fix it? Would love to be able to keep playing my save from FM22 but at the moment that's not possible.
  3. Ever since I updated my mac to the latest version if I try and open FM21 it comes up with this message saying the game is damaged as it was downloaded on an unknown date. Anyone know if there's a way to fix this? I've tried verifying the integrity of the files but that isn't working. If I uninstall then reinstall again would that work? I don't want to lose my save on it though so I'm guessing I'd have to upload that somewhere before uninstalling.
  4. Stenhousemuir 22/23 - August, September & October 9 games played in all competitions so far this season and it all started rather poorly, as Albion Rovers beat us for the second time already this season winning the opening day fixture 2-1 just weeks after beating us in the Premier Sports Cup. It didn't get much better from there either as we picked up just one point in our next two games making it one from nine to start the season off, as we drew 1-1 away to Annan Athletic before losing cruelly to Stirling Albion, who scored goals in the 85th and 89th minute to snatch three points out of our hands. Thankfully we did pick up our first win of our season and indeed my first win of my career against Dumbarton in the next game though, scraping past them 1-0 in front of a home crowd. The celebrations were cut short however, as it was back to losing ways in the next game though at the hands of Stirling Albion again this time in the Challenge Cup, but thankfully the board weren't really bothered about this competition. Since then though, we've played 4 games and not lost any of them which is great to see. We picked up wins against Stranraer and Elgin as well as a pair of 0-0 draws against Forfar and East Fife, the latter of which being a great result as they're currently top of the league. In other news, Ross McCormack hasn't exactly lived up to expectations yet, he's played three games one of which was a start and has averaged a 6.43 rating with no goals or assists. There's still time...We've also lost star midfielder Liam Brown for just over a month so if there was ever a time for Ross to start putting in some performances, it would be now. Speaking of performances, those last four games where we went unbeaten have meant that after 8 games we sit 4th, in the last playoff spot level on points with Dumbarton behind us. If you told me this is where we'd be after 8 games at the start of the season I'd definitely take it, and I'd be delighted if this is where we finish at the end of the season as the board only want us to finish in the top half. If we could continue our mini unbeaten run through next month that would be great, and if we could start scoring a few more goals that would be even better as I feel we're slightly lacking in that department, we're getting shots away, but we just can't get them on target.
  5. Stenhousemuir 22/23 - Summer transfers Well it's been a while since I've updated anything on here, and that's because I've hardly touched this save or FM23 to be honest, clocking up only 26 hours at the time of writing. To tell the truth I wasn't content with ending my FM22 journey abruptly to the new game coming out, so I went back to keep playing that save but unfortunately I encountered a game breaking issue. For some reason almost every match I went into the game would freeze, then crash, without showing me a crash message. I've no idea why, but I've tried everything and nothing will solve the problem so I've decided to give FM23 another shot and make this save as memorable as the last one, hopefully even better! I've played 2 months of league action so far that I'll cover in the next post but this one will be a short one focusing on the one new addition to the squad and surprisingly, I'm sure it's a name I'm sure many of you will recognise. Welcome to Stenhousemuir, ex Scotland international and EFL Championship player Ross McCormack! I was looking for someone who could come in and cover attacking midfield, out wide and potentially up front if the other strikers fail and somehow we've landed McCormack on deadline day. I'll be honest, I thought he retired. Technically and mentally he looks very good still, just don't look at the physicals. The 36 year old has joined on a very cheap contract and only wanted to be an impact sub until the end of the season but, perhaps rather naively, I've got high hopes for him. I'd imagine he'll mainly be coming off the bench as he can't run at all, but surely a player of his quality can do a job in Scottish League 2? I'm sure we'll find out soon!
  6. Still having crashing issues on my 2020 OS Monterey laptop making the game difficult to play as it can freeze then crash in the middle of any match, was going to update to the 13.1 Ventura update, but by reading this last page in this thread should I not bother? To me the black box doesn’t look too bad. There’s already a centimetre of black box around the side of my mac which I’ve hardly ever noticed to be honest as it’s always been like that, but some are saying it’s making the game unplayable. Pretty sure it’s the drivers that need updating to stop the game crashing so was hoping that would be fixed in the new update. my camera doesn’t interfere with screen size on my mac like some I’ve seen in this thread, maybe as it’s an older mac but the camera is in the top black row so maybe it won’t make a difference?
  7. Love the young strikers you’ve brought in. For what Colman lacks in finishing he makes up for in composure, I bet that’s how he scores all his goals as sometimes that can be more important than finishing. Great start to the season as well, especially in the league.
  8. I get the quitting thing as well. Does the match engine lag and freeze a bit for you, even when playing on 2d?
  9. Only 2 points off Bayern! Brilliant start to life in Germany, can’t wait for the Panathinaikos game!
  10. Been a brilliant time in Greece, last night was special following along with. Look forward to seeing who the next team is!
  11. all versions of FM lagging for me, there’s a pending update but hesitant to do it given the size of them. Is doing the mac update the only thing that will stop random crashes in games (even though there’s no crash message after) or is there an alternative fix anyone knows of?
  12. Off the back of this, now FM22 and FM21 are also having problems, now after playing a couple matches one of the games will randomly just turn my game off. I think it’s a crash, but there’s no crash error message always happens that match when I replay it (although I’ve tried this once, playing on only commentary meant the match didn’t crash) at any random point. 22 and 21 worked perfectly before I updated to the macOS 11 thing for FM23, now the old games aren’t working. There is another update now for mac so I’m wondering if I need to do that to be able to play problem free again. Although I’d prefer to see if there’s a solution that means I can play FM again without lagging and crashing without having to update given the large amount of storage they take.
  13. My mac is struggling massively with FM23. Not that old, got it 2019 or 2020 (at the start of the pandemic) and even on 2D the match is freezing for me, except the game is still playing and I have to tab out and back in for it to catch up. Very jittery as well. I’ve gone back to FM21 for now and will try a match again in a few days, if it’s still a problem I may have to refund.
  14. Great start to your career, really turned round Chester’s season given they were struggling when you first arrived!
  15. Great to see Antonis returning, Simon and Soucek look good signings as well - they should still both do a very good job despite their age. Getting those homegrown players in will give you much better flexibility in the Champions League as well which will be useful later on in the season when the games come quick. Good summer overall!
  16. Brilliant result in the Champions League, this could be a bit of a turning point in the save actually getting past Barca and into the knockout rounds!
  17. Stenhousemuir 22/23 - Premier Sports Cup We've had a nightmare start to the season in the League Cup! The only game we played half decent in was the first one against Championship side Ayr, we were unlucky to lose on pens but we do still get a point from it. Next up, Premiership side Livingston and as you'd expect we were absolutely battered, I'm not too bothered about this one though given we're a much smaller club. Then, these next two games were embarrassing. Albion and Annan are both in our league, Albion predicted to finish bottom and we were 2-1 down until the last minute where we rescued a point through the penalty shootout! Then, even worse, we were hammered by Annan away from home. Not good signs at all! As you'd expect given our results we did finish bottom of the group, but thankfully the board aren't too bothered about this competition. New signings We have made two new signings so far though, both of whom are midfielders. Paul Cairney is a new DLP, we only really had one player who could do that role well enough for my liking so considering we had a little bit of money to spend I went and got myself a more experienced player in that role, he'll probably start the season as second choice but could force himself in as first choice depending on his performances. At the other end of the age scale we've brought in 20 year old Lewis Duncan, we only really had one player who could play in attacking midfield so we brought in the youngster who will hopefully do a job when called upon. He's got some nice potential as well so if I like what I see this year then I'm not against extending his deal.
  18. Been a brilliant start to the season, surprised with all those new players coming in it hasn’t taken them longer to gel!
  19. Thanks mate, should hopefully be a good one
  20. Stenhousemuir 22/23 - Pre-season We're just about to start our Premier Sports cup group campaign for this season but before I make my managerial debut, I figured I should show you around the club a bit and let you meet some of our players. The squad This is our initial squad, 20 players plus a load who are currently on trial. I'll sort by current ability and show you our top 3 players. As you can see we're kind of lacking in quality up front and on the wings, Brown is by far and away our best attacker so they are the positions I'm going to try and strengthen either with a free transfer or perhaps a loan. Tactic O Originally I was going to play a wing play system but due to the lack of quality in that department I've opted for my usual 4-2-3-1 control possession. After a quick look at the squad we seem solid defensively so that's something we may have to rely on to grind out results in this first season. Finances Looking healthy for now and we also have a little bit of money to bring some players in which is nice. Season preview The media predict us to finish in 6th this season which is also what the board want, so I'd be happy with that.
  21. Another good season domestically, that’s tough in the Champions League though. Hopefully next year you make the last 16 again, shouldn’t be too long before you start making that consistently I’m sure. Think I underestimated how difficult this challenge would be!
  22. Hello and welcome to my first and hopefully only save of FM23, called League 2 To The Top! A few of you may remember this is actually a save premise I debuted on the forums back in FM21, albeit I only started updating about 12 seasons in, and this year it's back for its second edition. For those of you who've followed my saves before you'll know I'm not one for big long updates, I tend to keep them nice and short but as this is an introductory post I apologise in advance that it could be a bit wordy! This is the third save I've documented on here after the Realistic Journeyman on FM22 (this basically turned into a League 2 To The Top just with an unemployed start) and also the first edition of League 2 To The Top from FM21, so feel free to check them out if you like. Right, now let's get into talking about the save! Aim Most saves have an aim of winning the Champions League, completing a challenge, or perhaps to build a nation up from the bottom of the rankings to the top but with the way I play Football Manager this isn't really the case, there's no set target that ends the save or determines whether I've failed or not, and the reason for that will become apparent when I talk about the rules. I don't like to put too much pressure on myself to achieve something by a certain date, as when I play FM it's all about the manager, myself, and the narrative that comes with it; it's about my journey as a manager going from a local lower league manager to hopefully one of the greatest of all time. So my only aim really is to have as long and successful a career as possible, but if that doesn't happen and my managerial career turns out to be a bit of a failure, then so be it, that's just the way things turn out! Rules Like the aims, when I play Football Manager I don't like having too many rules to follow as I feel it restricts me a little bit, I just like to play it as a normal Football Manager save. There is one rule though, and it's very important. As hinted at previously, realism is the name of the game. I have to play the game as if I am the actual manager, all decisions have to be made based on what I think I'd do in real life. The main thing this effects is job offers, this is not a one club save because in real life it's rare to have one job your whole career, you go where the money is and if you're offered a job on more money, you consider it so this thought process will be implemented to my save. Say I'm starting at a semi pro club on £500 a week, and I'm offered a job at a professional club who will pay me £1,000 a week then I take that job because it's what I'd do in real life. The club are bottom of the league? Doesn't matter, it's a step up in pay and a step up in division often as well so it's my job to turn it around. The one caveat to this is that later on in my career if I've earned millions of pounds over the last couple of decades and I'm approaching the twilight years of my managerial journey, money is less of a motive and I may take a job on a slight pay cut if it's an interesting project as I've made enough money to last the rest of my life and probably set my family up financially as well. But certainly in those early days, I'll be taking those pay rises as and when they become available because a couple extra hundred pounds a week could make a huge difference. Something to consider with job offers though is the location, if it's only a slight pay rise and I have to relocate to the other side of the world then it's unlikely I'll take it, a huge contract would have to be on the table for me to go there. As I'm starting in the UK though it shouldn't be too much an issue as for the right wages I'd be willing to relocate anywhere in the country to pursue my career as a football manager. It's not often I'll be actively looking for a job though as you don't usually change job in real life unless it's going horribly wrong and you can financially afford to resign, or if you're really not enjoying it then you may quit but for the large part I won't be applying for jobs that often or going near the job centre particularly at the start of my career, new jobs will depend on how well I'm doing at my current club. Just like real life! Starting club Not much else to cover now, you probably get the idea the save is all about realism and my career as a manager but I have to get my foot through the door somehow and there's a method to how I pick my starting club. Just like Lollujo in his Non-League to Legend series, I'll be starting at the club closest to my house in the lowest playable division and as I live in Scotland, this is Scottish League 2 (hence the title!). The club closest to my house in this league is Stenhousemuir, beating second closest by a total of 3 minutes so that's who I'll be managing first! Since I'm likely to be part time in these first few seasons it would be unrealistic to manage a club 3 hours away as I'm not going to move house for a part time job there or am I willing to commute there and back every day, hence why I start at the club closest to where I live. Hopefully over time my career takes me across the UK and beyond, I'd love to manage in the Premier League one day, lift the Champions League trophy at one of Europe's elite clubs, maybe even manage the club I support Manchester United, but that's all a dream at the moment! In terms of leagues and database size to start with I'll have all leagues from the UK as playable with a small database size to enable a quick pace (something I couldn't do last year as I had too many players and leagues for what my laptop can handle) but overtime as I climb the managerial ladder I'll remove some of those lesser British nations and replace them with the top leagues in Europe such as the Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1, you get the idea. One other thing to consider, and this is something I've always wanted to happen but understandably never actually played enough seasons for. As it's all about realism and role play as the actual manager, once I get to retirement age (late 60's, early 70's) then guess what, I retire. I can't see myself managing my 4000th game aged 90, so when it's time to hang up the suit and call it a day then I will. But, if I'm enjoying the save enough and there's time, the save will continue with another manager as my fictional son or maybe an influential player from the save. I've seen a few people on the forums do this, but I'd say it's highly unlikely I ever get this far as my manager will be starting in his mid 30's I think, although I thought I'd include it anyway as it's something I love hearing about in other people's saves. So I think that's it then, thankfully this is the longest post you'll ever read from me as the updates in this thread will be short monthly reports covering the basics you need to know like transfers, results and league tables as well as any other important news such as job offers and new contracts. If you've made it all the way to the end then thank you very much for reading, I can't wait to get started with this save tomorrow when the full game comes out and hopefully you'll enjoy it as well, there was loads of people following along with last year's save which was great to see! 'Mon the Stenny!
  23. That’s pretty good then, still lots of potential for him as well given he’s still at a young age. Thanks for the reply!
