  1. After the new patch and playing for a while, i've decided to quit fm, probably not forever, but for a long time and a couple of versions for sure. I'm tired of this circle of being perfectly happy with match engine, and then all of a sudden nothing is working, if not fully, not working as before, and no matter what i do, i can't get that enjoyment as I did pre-patch. Feels like falling in love and then getting dumped one day without a clue what even happened. I can revert to the older patch, but then there's no youth intake fix, so it's a lose-lose for me.

After reading some of the feedback posts, i am really happy for some of you that find the game more challenging now and most importantly, enjoyful, as that is the main goal here, and i also feel for those of you that feel similar to me regarding the fm now.

I wish SI gave us the option for everyone to enjoy their game the way they like, but i don't blame them, i've had a lot of fun hours on this fm pre patch and in betw and it was value for the money, but it's not something that i can enjoy anymore, and when i can't, it's best to say it's not for me and move on instead of getting frustrated that my strikers can't do what they did before for example.

Hope you all have fun, and good luck

It isn't speculation. SI have said that they believe that the amount of free agents retiring at the end of the first season due to covid is part of the issue.

You surely understand that the information they give out re. The inner workings of their game is highly business sensitive and why they are not going into detail on forums?

Feel like I have to put on each post now, as a disclaimer, that I also want them to resolve the issue as quickly as possible

They believe, i believe so too. They believed they fixed it last time with the patch, but they didn't.

I understand that they can't release sensitive information. But some accurate information would be nice.

Btw, i really respect your opinion and I know everyone does want this to get fixed, i just THINK that the problem could be communicated better, the eager community could have been used better for testing, or reporting what they need to know, so this vital function of the game that worked before and didn't change much could be fixed faster.

It's pretty insane to finish 5th after promotion...

I didn't get that far to see the bug yet, I delete my saves soon when I don't see any challenge continuing.

Wolves were pretty insane and unrealistic when they managed to finish 7th after being promoted. Not to talk about that unrealistic RB Leipzig challenging Bayern in a season after they got promoted.

I mean, if it's unrealistic to win the title with Chelsea, i don't know what the people actually want, results to be generated in line with real life results regardless of tactics? I really have no clue

@vukigepard what version is that in?

Thanks @Junkhead. I know some people have said when they want to be sure of success they just use Gegenpress. They basically feel it is pointless to think up a formation and style to play, when you can just choose Gegenpress and be sure to get wins. I certainly remembered this being complained about in FM20, but wondered if it was the case in other versions.

I was talking about my experience throughout fm19 to fm21

I know a lot of people said the Gegenpress tactic was overpowered in FM20, but some have even said it was overpowered in both FM19 and FM20 and is still overpowered in FM21.

I admit that I tried the Gegenpress tactic in FM19 (I don't own FM20) with a few teams and it doesn't seem to be guaranteeing me good results. Was it therefore only FM20 where it was overpowered?

When it comes to great teams (not just starting database great, but stronger than those later in the game when newgens emerge and wondedkids develop) it's not overpowered. When it comes to average teams (attribute wise), it's op. That's my experience, attributes don't have enough of the impact, but it's rather subtle, tactics on the other hand have direct impact, when in reality, it's a  subtle, indirect impact. That's my viewpoint.

And as has been repeated a few times - constructive feedback around these things is important.

Maybe i'm dumb and it's just me, but i had no idea until it was pointed out that the new team talk design had to do anything with players being around you. So constructive feedback, if that's the experience with other players, would be that it doesn't serve it's point

Weird how different people's saves can be - one of the great things about FM.

Under Mourinho, they went on to years of dominance in my saves.  The Liverpool resurgence has taken some of the silverware away in recent versions of FM, but ManU always seem to get back to the top within a couple of seasons (if I'm not managing in the EPL) and then be dominant. I think it's also partly because Pep's City seem to underperform as much as Man Utd overperform.  I guess it's a combination of money and reputation that stops any real slide.

In my fm20 save, the year is 2043. First few years was a battle between City and Liverpool with both winning everything unil somewhere around 2025, where Arsenal managed to get dominant and win most of the titles until 2035, with maybe 1 city, 1 liverpool and 1 united title. Then, funny things have been happening in the next 8 years, as there were lots of tycoon takeovers, so Arsenal, City (with a new tycoon), Chelsea, United, Liverpool, Swansea, West Ham and Wolves all won a single title and i loved that in contrast to 1 team dominating all the time (mostly United)

Ole was United manager until the 2040's

    this... isn't the same thing

How do you feel about some new dribbling animation before that? I mean, when it comes to fm, i couldn't care if they did full thriller choreography before the every match, although it'd be impressive.

I mean, players dribble during the football games sometimes, and some games are thrillers.

We see on the forum that there are more who find the game easy. These are people who have been playing for over 15 years who know what they're talking about and who are always there. They are loyal players and need a little listen.

This situation, in which it is easy to win, suits youtubers who use their videos to attract young audiences and a large mass of other players. What finally brings you money and what's right. But we should because of this majority that says the game is easy, it still improves. They probably spent hours playing too to know it was easy. They know best what needs to be changed so don't do the jokes and what you would change.

If you want an easy game, play fifa or peso. Fm has always been a tactical and analytic game in which no matter how good you are, it's not easy to win. Let's keep it that way. We want a challenge.

    1. I'm a loyal player that has played fm over 10 years. No need to explain to me what is fm exactly and how i've been in denial for a decade

    2. Look at all the people playing fm21 on steam right now that don't come to this specific forum and moan about the game being easy. Far from majority.

    3. I don't care about the youtubers playing their own game and sharing it.

    4. I don't have a problem with this game, you do, and about 250 players out of many thousands that don't. You don't tell me what to play and how to play, i won't tell you what to play and how to play, fair and easy.

    5. I have a feeling that you haven't played beta before, beta is always somehow easier than the actual release game, at least my experience.

Maybe they don’t do it because they release the best possible AI they can each year and any difficulty modes would result in easier modes being available and this being the hardest one (without being overly unrealistic) so they offer attribute hiding, fake player names, no first window and an in game editor as way to create your own levels of difficulty. If you still smash every save congratulations you’re amazing at the game and if you can’t find a new way to enjoy it that’s tough but it happens.

I just find it weird that people think that they don’t do the best job possible with all the resources they have available.

Agreed. I know they can't create the perfect simulation, and have to balance a lot of things, not to make possibilities too narrow, to make sure not every approach works great, but to be able to overachieve, underachieve, to appeal to the casual gamers, to the hyper realism players, to the middle ground, to worry about numbers of goals, from which position, stats to be in the line of expected, to make representation of it on the pitch, and much more. Very hard to do, especially because everything is connected to everything else.

Regardless, i'll find a way to enjoy this fanastic work any way i can.

I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be a take the knee animation at the start of games where it happens in real life (well at least in the 1 or 2 leagues I've played in thus far where it happens in real life. Especially with the links with anti racism organisations and the makers of the game.

Oh, come on now. Next thing people will he asking for managers to be able to do fortnite dances before the start of the match

The point is you don’t need world class AI for a game to be challenging smh.

In a game where AI and player are in the same world, with same resources, without any AI "cheating" as they are treated equally, you do need world class AI for it to compete. Do you know a single game where a player that has played 15 years of particular game isn't better than the AI on "normal" difficulty?  No matter the programing, the AI can't learn to analyse and combine the information in a way the players do. Not even the state of the art modern AI's.

So maybe difficulty levels are solution to this too easy/too hard problem, but i somehow doubt that SI will do it
