  1. It’s a really good question. The morale/momentum system is overpowered in FM20 so when things go bad it snowballs.  One idea is to schedule a friendly or two against cupcake teams to get easy wins and boost morale. It’s not a realistic solution but the “bad morale = disaster” thing isn’t very realistic either.

    Good luck.

No need to be harsh. This whole thing can be fixed trivially. Just change the pop-up text of "Fee" to "The amount of money your team will pay to the opposition for match participation" and the pop-up text of "Income" to "The estimate amount of money your team will make from this match".

Your idea doesn’t address away matches. When you’re the away team, the home team pays you the fee and you don’t pay the opposition anything. Basically for away matches there should just be one amount listed: the fee the home team pays you.

Thanks for clearing this up @Lucas. And its the same for home and away games, correct?
In other words, I should always compute (income - fee) to see the amount of money I would make/lose when scheduling a friendly regardless of whether it's at home or away.

It doesn’t make sense to subtract fee from income for an away match, because the fee is what the home team pays the away team. Logically there shouldn’t be income listed for an away match but the folks at SI aren’t particularly logical and it’s obvious none of them know anything about accounting. But it’s a minor issue so *shrug*.

  4. Enable us to redesign our club kits in any offseason during a save. Kit design is already a feature of “create a club” so making it available throughout all saves (career, create a club, and challenges) probably would be easy.

Designing kits is one of the cool parts of creating a club. If you make it generally available throughout the game, I think it could be a popular new feature for FM21 Touch. We all like to take full control of our club, and designing/redesigning the kits is one of the final frontiers.

  5. Pomorie (Bulgaria) might be the most difficult club in the world to manage. I started unemployed and vacationed to November to find a team in peril of relegation to fix. Pomorie only had 1 point from their first 15 matches and were looking for a new manager.

The problem is finances. You can see that they are way over budget, and basically have no budget anyway. I thought I could fill the team out with loans. Player search turned up many players listed for loan but NONE of them were willing to come to our club even though they came up in the interested in loan search (which SI ought to fix).

Really Pomorie should become an amateur club, but that’s not something I can change in FM Touch. As a professional club any amateur player I approached wanted to be paid to play for us.

So there is no way for us to add players. And we don’t even have enough players to fill the 7 spots on the bench. There’s only 1 goalkeeper at the club; if he’s injured that’s the end.

Are you up for the ultimate Pomorie challenge?!?

  6. FM has always injured players in pairs. If a centerback gets injured I expect another centerback to be injured within a couple of days. It’s not realistic but it’s the way FM is and I accept that.

But this time FM went for the hat trick. My 2 starting fullbacks we’re both injured during a match. And before our next match the backup right fullback was injured too.

So I say foul! Stick to your traditional trick of injuring players in pairs. Wiping out 3 at once is over reaching.

  7. What do “fee” and “income” mean for friendlies?

My understanding is that for a home friendly the fee is what I pay the visiting team. Is the difference between fee and income (if positive) my profit from the match?

So it must be the opposite for away friendlies. The fee is paid to me as the visiting team, right? But what does the “income” figure mean for an away friendly? It seems like it should only be relevant to the home team.

This is a fairly important topic for small clubs but the online manual completely ignores it and the discussions in the forums are full of contradictions. An explanation from someone at SI would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  8. Morön BK is a club in the Swedish Third Division. That’s not a playable league in FM but clearly something needs to be done. Can we start a petition to have Morön promoted for FM21? Or get the Third Division made playable?

It will depend on what you set in your minimum / average and capacity attendances field (which is in the create a club bit before completing your squad). It also will depend on what you set for team’s reputation. If however you haven’t altered these fields, then it will be the same level of support that the team you have replaced them with. So if they averaged 2,875, your team will roughly mirror that.

In FM Touch we don’t have an opportunity to set capacity attendances or team reputation when we create a club. So I guess that means the team won’t benefit from locating in a bigger city. Unfortunate, but thanks for responding.

  10. What is the worst fully professional club in FM? I want to start a save with a club that has very low expectations.

Usually I start saves with bottom tier clubs that are either amateur or semi-pro. But in the current version of the games those clubs are plagued by an excessive player turnover bug.

So what ideas do you have? Basically I want a professional team that is predicted to be near the bottom of a lower tier league. And if the club has a good “story”, all the better. Thanks.

  11. I have a club in the second division of Sweden. Three of our players who were on non-contract deals have been lured away by fourth division amateur clubs. 2 of the players were starters for us and 1 was a frequent sub. I couldn’t offer them part-time contracts because our club’s financial situation is crap (not my fault, I’m within budget).

I guess the chance to play for nothing on teams two tiers lower was just too good of an opportunity to pass up!

    FM logic is baffling.

Update: our star striker just left to go to an amateur club in the league below ours. I guess I’ll have to give up on lower league saves. The transfer programming is too crappy.

Update 2:  our starting defensive midfielder was just stolen away by an amateur club that’s 2 levels below us. It’s absurd. At this rate our entire roster will be gone in about a week.

  12. I’m using this 4-4-2 diamond wide tactic in a Crystal Palace save and we’re in 1st place in December. Like you I struggled in previous tries with Palace, but with this tactic the team plays great. I only added 2 backup players to the real life side. I bet it would work for your club too. (I didn’t create the tactic and this isn’t my video. But it’s how I learned of the tactic and is a good intro.)

  13. I learned something else after several more matches. About 75% of goals are from set pieces (including AI team goals, not just mine).

It’s still fairly easy to create lots of shots from open play, but they rarely score. Corner kicks and indirect free kicks have a healthier conversion rate.

So I guess a good tactic in FM 20.2.4 is to play for set pieces, train set pieces and sign some specialists in corners and free kicks. It may not be a realistic strategy but it’s all we’ve got.
