There you go. I attached at least 15 pkms there, but there are other thread opened on this subject too.

Mattel is still Under Review - a joke imho.

Added to it, thankyou. Don't want to call it a joke, for as many of us saying its a bit ott theres as many saying it isn't. Hopefully as @XaW said when he replied to me the more evidence the better, this is a game people predominantly play alone and a game with infinite possibilities and outcomes. If you and everyone else on here played with my team on those same 7 fixtures we'd have wildly different results, and somewhere they may well all finish 0-0. Hopefully those of us contributing our matches and saves where we think there's an issue can help SI ascertain whether there is one or not; for me personally yes there is but that doesn't mean that Dave down the road and Corrina round the corner thinks so.

Coming from FM22, I think the game on a whole is a significant improvement. The Match Engine is much better. I can manage positional play and see fluid tactics in action much more easily. I enjoy a lot of the new additions like the squad planner, supporter vision etc (albeit I know these were also in FM23). However, I've scrapped the long-term save I started because there's two noticeable bugs that is affecting the game:

    1) Too many goals. Funnily enough, in my own league (the SPFL) this wasn't manifesting so much as ridiculously high-scoring games as it was a lack of clean sheets. Even Rangers and Celtic were conceding a goal a game, even though their XG against were overall low, which suggests other teams were finishing low-XG chances too consistently. However, I think this might also be linked to the 2nd bug...

    2) Inconsistent use of subs. It's not that the AI never makes subs. Sometimes they do - Kilmarnock made 4 against me. But too many times they don't make subs at all, or they only make subs in the last 5 minutes or when someone gets injured. In the Community Shield game, City won 4-3 and Pep made one change, in the 96th minute.

That game I put the screenshots up of, I was 4-0 up at half-time and their team had a rake of 6.1 6.2 all over the pitch - highest was a mid I think on 6.8 - but waited until 70 to make one sub (a defender on 6.1) and then another 2 on 85 (both wingers in a 433 wide). This is Northern Ireland div 2 and I'm not their manager so don't know the quality they had on the bench to be fair, but can see why people get aggrieved about it when sseeing similar in big leagues with known names.

I think this has already been touched upon several times. Yes, you can use sample sizes of the last few weeks or even the whole of this season. Use the last few however? Quite significantly out.

We're not saying there's anything wrong with high scoring games, or freak score lines. But not for each week of the season for a huge chunk of the matches being played. That difference over 38/46 games is huge.

I've had a lot of hours in on this edition so far. I don't think I've seen a game for my team end in a 0-0 and I can count on one hand the amount of 1-0's with 2 different teams over 3 seasons. You browse through teams in leagues being played in full detail and look at how many 0-0's or 1-0's or even 1-1's they have. They've turned into the freak results, not the 5-3's and weekly 4-1's.

I think a lot of the "nowt wrong here" is because everyone loves goals and winning, and every credit to them, but I do think it's out of hand in this version. Certainly in my save it is which is the only one I can speak for.

  4. Late to party. Missed you kids, mostly. Done me normal school team start (Queens Uni in Norn Iron div 2 this time because Swansea U aren't here).

Lots of goals, lots. I won league, had an over xg of 26.3, and 3 clean sheets. Season 2 my fans expect attacking counter attacking football.

Forgot to screenshot but i'll edit it back in for you tactic vampires. (it's a defensive flat 442 that never gets clean sheets and gives me the odd 9-1 or 7-3 win)

Same as everyone else my goalkeepers have arms of glass (do pitches grass/halfhalf/artificial have an effect?), my captains **** and moan about me having no depth here or there (does the game recognise the paler dots or just the full green "natural"  ones) and, dunno if this is a bug or bad wording, my amateur and non-contract players are always whining about being in last year of their deal.

Is rubbish attacking play better rewarded than rubbish defensive play?

That's why lower league management is so appealing to me. I never get upset with the Match Engine, rather my talentless stupid numpties who can't pass or hit a barn door.

I just had my 36 year old striker end his goal drought with a 4 goal haul so the shysters brought on a 46 year old Lee Trundle that got a hat-trick in 6 minutes to make it a draw :)

Same as you, I never know if the ME is OP and all the other crap, I don't get to find out because by the time I get to the big table everybody is a regen Scottish Mexican that started at Dorking or something silly. And thats why we play.

Plus it's better than AFK minig veldspar

  6. Came in to see how the fam are after a week of playing a game and honestly (we all say this every year so meh) this place feels so toxic.

Dagenham_Dave I agree with you, I do actually feel like I'm watching a football match and once a highlight starts I have to watch to see how it pans out which perhaps hasn't always been the case before.

We don't control the footballers in this game, we manage them. Get 11 of your mates and ask them to do everything you want for 90 minutes while another fella is doing the same with their mates to stop that? Reckon every one of them will listen to you? None of them will twist an ankle? The referee might have something in their eye at the worst/best point for your/other team?

This is not sensible soccer, this is football manager

Regarding Erling Haaland and the insane stats people have posted - he's more human in my game :

Was (still am) going to wait til played more games for a better balanced sample size of more general across the board stuff but your post reminded me of something that had stood out when I was last looking at the stats: Strikers seem very very good at the lowest of levels

  8. I like it.

Bit rough round the edges as per for beta, some silly typo's and the forever-old "#managername1" or whatever it is this year in the socials.

Manager accessories are unnecessary and weirdly counterintuitive to use - one click on no ring/watch/ear would suffice, having to individually click no ring/watch/ear on left/right is a ballache for a feature nobody really gave a **** about. All you're going to get is "wHY cANt i SPenD mY eARNinGs oN a LAmbOurGHiNi aNd a HOusE". More fool you.

(although I would love to know how to find the patchwork jacket that suddenly appears and vanishes again on occasion :))

Squad planner seems clumsy but I can imagine one of the great and good on here will figure out a better or simpler way to figure it and offer us a guide or a pretty template. TIA

Recruitment is better, but also a little lacking in utility - I actually prefer it, but it does need explaining a little better, particularly regarding the 'ongoing' instead of the focuses (focusses? focussi?)  -  and the meetings could do with not doubling up on anything you've already put in place just because you've already put them in place.

ME: I think it's great. Only way I can describe it is that everything has mass, the ball and the men, and it works (the woodwork having the same gravitational pull as a supermassive black hole may need a tweak, mind), and players stats seem to have more weight to them too. I only start as a rubbish team and this is the best rubbish football I've seen. The game is played by the 22 on the screen, not me, all I'm supposed to do is tell my 11 what I'd LIKE them to do - it's the attributes shown and hidden that decide whether they're able or willing to - and that seems much more prevalent especially taking over a club in the first few weeks when yours (or @Cleon :) ) tactics don't have the right players to play it. Not everything goes to plan but at the same time not everything is punished.

It seems, early days, that players aren't deemed good for nowt but glue after the age of 31, this is nice.

Not gone long enough into a save to comment on the attribute increases uproar, but the screens I've seen from people on here I trust the opinions of suggest that it is both a real issue and a real issue that is being sorted. The poor kid that had to explain that the hotfix today was Steve Gerrard should be getting an ingame pa -10 and real life free coffee's after that.

My match summary? The engine and the new animations are very good, I feel like I'm watching a game of football - I can see a penalty where it happens instead of noticing that split second pause between no clue nothing and 'the referee looks over to his assistant' commentary. I feel like my players are much more of the difference now rather than my tactics, I shouldn't be able to ask my 1 passing 1 first touch Hong Kong under 20's to play tiki taka because that's what I want them to do, or my pressing forward with 1 stamina and 1 work rate to still be knocking in last minute winners. Systems should either be made to suit the players you have or you find the players needed to fit the system you want. I think, thus far, this iteration does that well.

Bit of spit and polish on the QoL side, particularly with the manager creation and squad planner, and roughing out some edges of the engine and I think we've got a good one here :)

(small gripe - if I've got a Spanish or German kid in my amateur or non-contract or part time team then I'm guessing he isn't a threat to the local footballing population, because chances are he's either a student or a worker or both, so asking him to qualify for 30% of his national teams last years fixtures to get a new paid or unpaid contract when all the poor fella wants to do is gap year work a farm and get drunk seems a bit mean)

A good solid early season effort, I'm impressed

Oh, and the Patchwork Quilt of Tactical Mastery (+3 to att movement, def positioning, set pieces. -2 to charisma. Weakness to Roy Keane)

Surely, the time and effort creating watches, rings and and other knick-knacks for our manager avatars would have been better spent elsewhere. The stadiums corners are crying out for a bit more variety, but instead - we get a scarf that floats above the managers head.

Also, and I could be wrong, in previous games, couldn't we select the managers tie colour based on the club we were managing (e.g red/Liverpool, blue/Chelsea)? This option appears to have disappeared.

I'm all for cosmetic improvement to enhance the match-day experience, but a watch and earring we're never going to really see outside of the manager set-up screen is not what I expected.

I like making me, and I did a great job of it last night, but today I look like an Indiana Jones / Nebula hybrid.

Which is mint, not going to lie.

But I imagine very unsuitable for Queen's University Belfast ")

Where do I find my f12 screenshots?

  10. It's just a question is all; particularly when signing players

Do players religiously check scout reports and data analysts or just (me personally) see 6"7 CD/TM and sign?

I spent my entire FM 22 career as manager of Hong Kong (Irn Bru!) Rangers and I don't think I used any of them once.

Got an agent badger me about some Qatari newgen; that I signed and scored 24 in 16 then sold for 1.8m (more youth facilities)

Thing is. None of it was using the recent tools given in the game, it's just me looking at attributes and saying "him" and, this time, it working out brilliantly.

Just wondered, ahead of 23, what peoples play styles and or recruitment were like re all the data
