  1. I have a training question, if I want to focus on improving a specific attribute is it best to leave (lets say  a centre back)on D(C)-playing position as opposed to a role(ie BPD) within that training program?

If a player is left on D(C)-playing position then no attributes are highlighted on his training page as opposed to BPD where multiple attributes are highlighted. So if I leave training on D(C)-playing position and choose an additional attribute to train on will that attribute get more focus than if he was also traing as a BPD?

  2. Are you guys playing 16 or 17?

I used this tactic in 16 and now using it again in 17 with good results with a slight adjustment in that it's now a 31411 with a DM(D) instead of the CM(DLP), I felt like there was too much space between the defence and midfield.I've also adjusted the wingers to wide midfielders as they can be fine tuned better than the wingers.

I have 3 pacey defenders to cover the fact that we play with a high line(workrate, determination and positioning too).

Like you guys i'm seeing an overload of attackers arriving in the box when the opposition has the ball down the flanks do you guys think this is normal or a little "buggy"? I'm wondering if it's worth bringing up in the bug forum?

  3. I'm seeing majority of my goals coming from my wingers at the back post which I like but my striker is suffering a 6 game goal drought. He has likes to break offside trap as a ppm so I am trying him as a deep lying forward which is actually looking good as he drops deep, lays of a pass and then surges into space. He's getting shots off but the goals have dried up. What sort of target did you expect your striker to achieve through a season?

  4. Yes, admittedly you are being hit on the counter attack there but that looks waaay too open for my liking.

What type of players are you playing in the MR/L and MCR/L roles? Looks like they might be quite attacking players naturally? I normally balance one central midfielder support holds position whilst the other attacks and one winger is more or a wingback whilst the other is - again - more attacking.

Both wingers have been retrained to play as fullbacks as I had them in my 4312 system but yes they are attacking wingers. McL was the issue as in this game I played a adv pm in that position, in my last 2 matches I've used a more defensive midfielder with hold position PI plus he has stays back at all times ppm. We are a lot more solid.

  5. Love this formation having shifted from 4312 to this.

My major issue is how I'm conceding goals.

At the moment we're looking really solid and Olivares has just intercepted a long ball and has headed it towards Schober.

Schober is beaten to the ball by the left back who in turn plays it in to Ontiveros. The alarm bells are starting to ring now as I have too many players ahead of the ball.

My MCR has get further forward PI so I have no issue there and my MCL has hold position but he looks to far forward for my liking(maybe I need to train stays back at all times.

Big trouble now, left wing cuts the ball infield to no.15 who plays a first time ball into the feet of the no.11,the double up down the right is not looking good.

If my MCL had been deeper I think he may have been able to stop this play.

I feel a goal coming...My CD is drawn towards no.11 to make the tackle but he's to late and no.11 slides the ball out wide to no.17 who has run in behind rovik. My no.4 looks like he's in a decent position but is caught between looking out for 14 and 15 or no.7 who is about to run in behind him.

End result, 17 hits a square ball along the six yard line and 7 tucks it away.

Ultimately we won 6-5 in extra time but this type of play is proving costly.i have a couple of midfielders with stays back at all times ppm's.so will play one in my midfield trio for extra cover.

Any ideas on how to combat this?

  6. Just an amazing thread.Love the way you describe the sequences of play leading up to goals, you can almost close your eyes and see the move play out.

I'm playing a 4312 system using your 343 philosophy and it is fantastic, i was worried that i would get found out on the flanks deploying a high aggressive press but i needn't have worried.Teamwork, workrate, determination coupled with the correct combination of midfield roles to compliment attacking fullbacks stops any threat coming from the wide areas.

  7. It is just the standard of the control mentality.

I always thought I was a possession fiend but after applying some of the ideas to my tactic I found it rather frustrating to watch, keeping a hold of the ball for the sake of it, my FB getting into great positions for a cross but not crossing it due to the 'retain possession' shout so I decided to go ahead and remove it, yes I'm not getting high percentage of possession but I am seeing a smoother passing game. Which is something I much prefer.

Now this could be misreading the ME because there are that many different factors which could apply, but I'm going to give myself a pat on the back for applying what I think is a successful change to my tactic.

Hit early crosses can sort that problem out, i have retain possession and often use the early cross shout to get the full backs to deliver a cross before they get stuck on the byline.

  8. If i ask a coach to start a ppm on a certain player and he comes back to me with the answer"I don't see player x capable of doing that, he would be better trying this instead" If i ignore his advice and tell him to go ahead with the ppm that i need for that player will he gain that ppm or will he always fail.

Example,I want my striker to learn "comes deep to get the ball" but my coach doesnt think he is suited to it (what does he know anyway!!)and he thinks he should learn some other ppm that isnt suited to my tactic.

I've told him to go ahead with my request anyway but he doesn't think it will work.

  9. Can anyone then suggest a set of team instructions for possession based arsenal side?

    Control/balanced

    retain poss/short passing/drop deeper/roaming/higher tempo.

The first two to control passing range, second to open up space to work behind the opp defence higher tempo to compensate for the first two.

Maybe wing support to deliver earlier crosses in you play with target man, support duty AML/R may track back a little more.

I would also suggest a midfield trio of DM(d),AP(s) CM(a)

  10. IIama can u pls help me with my tactics for my arsenal save. Cant seen to win a single game at all. Im using a 4231 formation with control and flexible. Using instructions of retain possession, pass to space, shorter passing, work ball into box, close down more and push higher up.

    Here's my player roles.

    Wojeich- GK D

    Debuchy- FB S

    Mertesacker- CB D

    Koscielny- CB D

    Gibbs WB S

    Arteta DLP D

    Ramsey B2B

Sanchez inside forward attack on the left

Mesut ozil advanced playmaker support center

Chamberlain winger attack on the right

    Giroud target man attack

It might not be your roles/duties but more your TI's? You do realize that control already has you playing a high defensive line?Couple that with close down more and push higher up you have maxed out your defensive line and you're pressing all over the place.I would imagine you're getting carved open with ease down the flanks because your AMLR are not interested in defending and through the middle you have one player DLP staying back trying to defend against 2 possibly 3 opposition players

  11. An interesting thing between the two versions is that 11 has you asking the player to learn a new PPM while in 12 you're asking one of your coaches to teach him. This means your players don't have a chance at refusing to learn/unlearn PPMs.

Right click on player > Interaction > Start Preferred Move Training > Pick your coach and then pick your PPM.

    i thank you sir

  12. i have a fm12 question,i'm in september first season(taking a break from my fm11 save)and i cant seem to ask players to train prefered moves?Am i looking in the right place(player chat)?Or has it been moved somewhere else?Or is this function only available at certain times of the season?

In fm11 in the private chat you could always see the prefered move function but it would be greyed out sometimes.
