  1. I made a post a few days ago saying the fact two of the main headline features are essentially bug fixes (squad building and interactions) it's hardly a surprise they are still broken they haven't ever worked properly. Even then they are annoyances the fact they don't work perfectly doesn't break the game, it's the same with too many goals, it's an annoyance forsome people it's not in anyway game breaking. Leagues not working is game breaking and there's no excuse for those making it into the game, yet it does every year. Scroll through this thread though and 99% of the complaints flagged as game breaking are at best mild annoyances is my point. It's the same every year.
  2. This thread is the same every year. A small minority of the millions of people playing the game claiming the game is unplayable for "insert reason that is a minor annoyance at best" endlessly. The fact there are too many goals is a mild annoyance not game breaking. The Argentinian league not working or being unable to register players for the champs league in Sweden are in fact 100% game breaking and it baffles me things like this make it into the game every single year! Is this the best most enjoyable version of FM? Nope not by a long shot but it's absolutely not "unplayable".
  3. Direct from kick offs of either half I've seen quite a few goals. Enough to be noticeable not enough to be excessive.
  4. I saw a chart on Reddit earlier today for League One teams to highlight each team's style of play and the gap between highest number of passes and lowest was weirdly about 1.8. That being said I thought the number of passes was crazy low with the lowest being about 1.7 and the highest about 3.5!
  5. Aren't we at record levels of users according to Miles tweet right after his apology? All the suits at Sega and SI care about is number goes up and the numbers they care about are all going up so as far as they are concerned everything is going brilliantly.
  6. I think the thing that made it easier was getting rid of the abstraction that the sliders provided for tactics. These forums were full of people pulling their hair out that they couldn't set their tactics up just right back in those days. Now it's way, way too easy to set a tactic up if you know even the basics of football. Even if you don't just use the in-game plug and play setups and you'll do just fine if you choose geggenpress or vertical tiki-taka. The abstraction IMO was really frustrating at times but more realistic as it often ended up with you having tactics that should work in theory but for whatever reason didn't (which happens a lot IRL). Now my tactics work first time every time because I know exactly what I'm doing and exactly what tactical setup I want my team's to play and the more options I get the bigger my advantage over the AI. Hence the game is now very easy, I haven't been fired from a job in a long, long time.
  7. I think a big cause of poor squad building is the fact players demands are outrageous for contract renewals. A player whose a bit part player will go from a 200 pounds a week contract and demand 1.5k for his renewal. Actual starters and stars will ask for even more outrageous sums of money going from 800 pounds to wanting 3-4k which in a low-tier league could be 30% of your wage budget. So they end up leaving the club and the squads all slowly get eroded away via players being released and the clubs make zero in transfers. Noticed this was as a huge problem in Japan and South Africa.
  8. So the highest team has hit the woodwork 8 times in 12 games. I had that in one match.
  9. I hit the woodwork a minimum of 3 times per game I once hit it 8. Hitting it 5 times isn't unusual. And that's just my team not even counting the AI. How many times do teams hit the woodwork IRL? I genuinely don't know but I'd be amazed if it's above 1 on average per game in fact I'd be astounded to find it's higher than 0.5 per game in fact. It's rare to the point of being memorable to see a side hit it more than twice in one match.
  10. Into my 4th save on FM24 and second season syndrome has once again hit and I'm just not feeling it as a long term save. This time I got the Matsumoto job in the J3 league having hit random until I got a Japanese job. Tipped to come 5th in the league, board wanted us to finish in the top 5. We won the league pretty easily in the end but it was a pretty fun season with some ups and down. Second season the board want us to struggle bravely against relegation. Initially we are tipped to finish mid-table and I actually have an interview at another J2 team who are tipped for promotion. Having made 12 signings in the summer all but 2 on free transfers. I am tipped to come 3rd in the league. I managed to get my entire front 4 have a J1 current ability for the vast cost of 150k pounds! The team I had interview for went from tipped to finish top 5 to 14th during pre-season. So much for the AI squad building! I've now played 8 of a season I'm expected to struggle in...I've won all 8 at a canter. Usually I'd be loving building such a side that plays my tactics with such aplomb but it just feels so cheap and easy somehow and that's how all 4 of my saves have gone so far, with the only challenge really being dealing with some illogical interaction shenanigans.
  11. Is anyone else hitting the woodwork a minimum of 5 times a game or is it just me?
  12. The more tactical options the human player has at its disposal it just increases the advantage we have over the AI. I for example know I want to play a mid-block counter attacking system that transforms into a 2-3-5 system in attack. Previously this wasn't always possible but this year with the new roles and movement I can create this system from basically any starting shape. This is a huge advantage over the AI who essentially seems to just be locked into 1 or 2 basic tactical shapes and instructions. I can further increase my advantage by using individual role instructions for example asking my Inverted wingers to sit narrower to create space for a complete wingback. I don't think the AI can do this and if they can I can't say I've ever noticed it doing it. I can also use custom tactical instructions. Again I don't know if the AI can play a mid-block with a standard line of defence that presses aggressively but doesn't counter press like I like my team's to do. Because I want to create space to counter into and don't want to counter press as I don't want to leave myself vulnerable in the transition. Throw in the fact in the game I'm just playing now the AI started with its entire midfield with half full hearts for condition plus one of its strikers and it's wingback with the lightest shade of orange and a centre-back with not quite full green. That's 6 players who aren't fit starting a game. Whereas I a person with a modicum of intelligence used my squad and rotated so everyone is fit and yes we are absolutely murdering them as a result. That and in the olden days the tactical instructions were incredibly abstract notches on a sliding scale. 1 notch to the left or right could and would destroy a tactic and no the game wasn't about to explain whym These days if you have even a rudimentary grasp of football tactics you can setup a half decent tactic without too much effort and if you don't it has plug and play presets that work just fine with the right plays in them. Throw in the fact the AI is incredibly passive and defensive in its tactical setups in a game that has always favoured attacking ones. TLDR the more options we as humans have the easier the game gets IMO.
  13. Pretty much agree with everything you've said I think players at lower levels do make mistakes but nowhere near enough when passing about. But if they did you'd probably end up with basketball scores.
  14. He's now happy after we won our first 3 games of the season...I didn't sign another defensive mid because I already have too many! Another 20 days for him to change his mind back to being unhappy I guess. He hasn't particularly kicked off or played badly he's also club captain.
  15. After the update my player who was pleased with my progress in solving the defensive midfield squad depth has now gone back to feeling like I could be doing more...I've signed 6 extra defensive mids you absolute melt!
  16. The problem is SI and Sega have no motivation to make any changes to the way they operate because an hour after releasing an apology Miles was bragging on twitter about the record number of players this version has had. Also the games at 85% positive reviews on steam which for an annually released game with nearly 3k reviews on it's about 30th edition is basically unheard of. Had the communication around the J-League license been better and they'd been up front that certain players weren't available to them and some assets would be late to the party you could probably eliminate 50% of the negative reviews. This thread is a very, very small cross section of players who are largely motivated to complain in the wider pool of players largely enjoying the game. Until sales go down and wider reviews hit negative territory SI won't change because the signals the suits care about are all positive.
  17. Pretty much every negative review is either there's nothing new but the gameplay is the same old great fun loop as it always been I'm just giving a negative review as he games a cash grab these days because... Of the J-League fiasco, player interactions and or keeper injuries. Or mentions all of the above. The only person to mention too many goals I saw had played for 350 hours! So they can't be hating it that much. My favourite though has to be the guy with 250 hours who just wrote "unplayable"!
  18. As I said yesterday some of the bugs are noticeable after a single match, like the fact team talks have no effect.
  19. One off strange results happen all the time IRL. My team beat a side 7-0 first game we had 8 shots on goal! If that happened in FM people would post it as a bug.
  20. If you go through this thread it really is about 6 of you consistently complaining about it. And yes I am terrified they'll ruin the ME as it's the only enjoyable bit of the game so far 😂
  21. I guess you found the Chelsea v Man City game last night pretty much unwatchable then 😂 I'd love to see how you worked out the 15% conversion rates because in my current save J3 League the top two teams have conversion rates of 6.5% and 6.7%. The top 3 teams however have scored over 100 goals (101, 103 and 107). I'm one of those teams and honestly we should have scored about 70 more goals the amount of times we miss sitters and hit the post. The teams in relegation have barely managed 1 goal per game and were at one point averaging 0.6 and 0.8 goals per game. The teams in-between have all gotten between 40-60 goals which is entirely normal for a 38 game season. It seems a very complicated issue does the goal scoring in the ME so I'm please they aren't rushing it.
  22. The squad depth problems really do make no sense. I've had it crop up 3 out of my 4 saves and the one time it didn't was the one time I genuinely was panicking over my squad depth in not one, not two but three positions! But that one time my squad were apparently fine we only had two fullbacks and 3 defensive mids to fill 4 positions! Right now though when I had 8 defensive mids and signed a 9th to fill two slots we lack depth! It just lacks logic and is totally immersion breaking.
  23. In short no you can't. Longer version when this change happened absolutely nobody liked it except Miles as he thinks it's more immersive this way so we are now stuck with it. Same with the function of having a match timeline and that being removed in the name of "immersion" which literally makes no sense seeing as I have a match timeline on ifollow when I watch every weekend and go back to rewatch passages of play regularly!
  24. A bit of weird AI squad building. Sold a player to a team in the division above for a club record fee of 250k. He starts in 23 of the 33 games his new club play in the league as they put together a strong title challenge. Imagine my surprise when that exact same player is offered back to me by his agent for 63k. Even funnier I signed him back on a free as his contract was expiring. I would not be surprised to find this was a result of the utterly broken interaction system where he has refused to sign a new deal due to not starting enough games even though he's played a fair chunk of them.
  25. I think you'll find a very small group of people just constantly complaining about this and twice as many people saying they have no or have noticed specific issues with it.
